“Well, if you were to look very pretty around Mr. Takumi, then it might improve your relationship. That would be very encouraging for all of us who guard and watch over you!”
“What!?”
“Huh!?”
Ms. Johanna had suddenly looked at me before saying something very absurd.
Ms. Claire was also stunned.
I just hoped that Sebastian was not listening in.
“Wha…”
“What is it, Lady Claire?”
“You say such ridiculous things! Why are you talking about Mr. Takumi all of a sudden!?”“The master is quite fond of him. And since he has Leo, he is strong enough to…”
“That’s true! But Mr. Takumi and I do not have that kind of relationship yet!”
“…Yet?”
“Nevermind that! In any case, whether or not I want to wear this hat…it has nothing to do with Mr. Takumi!”
“But…you seemed to care last night?”

A few days ago, I had had a talk with Mr. Ekenhart and Sebastian. I suppose it was on a lot of people’s minds these days.
Regardless, I could do nothing but smile awkwardly.

Ms. Johanna finally realized it, and seemed quite troubled.
As for Ms. Claire, she was still glaring at her.

“The carriage has stopped…”
“Did something happen?”
“…Lady Claire. Mr. Takumi. Please be careful.”
After stopping once for a lunch break, we continued on our way towards Range village for some time. And just as the sun was starting to set, I heard Leo barking outside of the carriage.
It was not her usual barking. She sounded like this when she detected danger. And so we all looked outside in alarm.
But I could not see anything, and eventually, the carriage slowed down and stopped.
We had not planned to stop here, so something must have happened after all.
Ms. Johanna’s hand went to her sword as she jumped out of the carriage.
“Johanna! It’s monsters! They are not coming towards us yet, but stay on your guard!”
“Understood, Phillip!”
“Let us go and see as well.”
“Yes. Ah, I will get down first. You can be last, Ms. Claire…”
“Thank you, Mr. Takumi.”
Monsters…huh? Apparently, they were not coming towards us, but I still wanted to be sure.
While I was still not good enough, I had trained a lot.
“Sebastian, what happened?”
“Lady Claire, Mr. Takumi…”
Sebastian had also gotten down from the driver’s seat.
Johanna and Phillip had unsheathed their swords and were scanning the area. But the other guards and carriage were up ahead, and acting as a defensive wall.
After all, this was the carriage that Mr. Ekenhart was supposed to ride in. And so protecting Ms. Claire would be their top priority…
But for some reason, I could not see Leo anywhere. Perhaps she had gone ahead with Mr. Ekenhart and Liza?
