Chapter 51: The Kitchen Explodes.

Chapter 51

The next day, Gu Zhi woke up very early.

When he got up, everyone else was still asleep.

He felt that he couldn't just eat and live here for free at his sister's place, he still needed to do something.

So he went to the kitchen, intending to make breakfast for them.

He looked around the kitchen and found the rice bucket.

He saw that people usually eat steamed buns or porridge for breakfast.

He didn't know how to make steamed buns, but he roughly knew how to cook porridge.

He washed the pot, added a full pot of water, then added half a bucket of rice.

Then after covering it with a lid, he went to make a fire, stuffing a lot of firewood into the stove.

But he didn't know why, the fire just wouldn't light up.

It went out after a while, then went out again!

He had been messing around in the kitchen for nearly half a hour, the entire kitchen was filled with thick smoke, choking him and making him cough incessantly, his whole face was blackened.

Yu Yifan's room was the closest to the kitchen, he was practically choked awake.

"Cough cough cough...is there a fire?" Yu Yifan thought there was a fire outside, he hurriedly got up, got dressed and ran out.

"Cough cough cough..." He covered his nose, realizing the thick smoke was coming from the kitchen, he thought the kitchen was on fire, and hurriedly ran over.

As soon as he entered the kitchen he was nearly suffocated by the thick smoke.

He saw Gu Zhi standing in the thick smoke, coughing violently.

He hurriedly ran over and pulled Gu Zhi.

"Gu Zhi, what are you doing?! Why is there so much smoke?!"

"Yu Yifan?" Gu Zhi squinted at him, "I'm trying to start a fire, but I don't know why it just won't light!"

Yu Yifan took a look, the stove was stuffed full of firewood, packed in very tightly.

"......"

Yu Yifan was speechless, "If you stuff in so much firewood, of course it won't light easily!"

He pulled Gu Zhi aside, sat down, and took out a lot of the firewood, leaving only a little bit, and it lit up immediately.

Gu Zhi watched in a daze, "How...how did you do that?"

"You can't add in so much firewood all at once, you have to add it slowly bit by bit, you packed it in too tightly, that's why it wouldn't light." Yu Yifan said.

Gu Zhi nodded thoughtfully, "I see, so that's how it works. I'll remember that."

With Yu Yifan's guidance, the fire finally started, and the smoke in the kitchen gradually dissipated.

"What are you cooking?" Yu Yifan asked casually.

"Porridge."

"Then keep cooking it, I'll go to the bathroom first."

"Okay, go ahead."

After Yu Yifan left the kitchen, Gu Zhi sat back down quietly by the stove to tend the fire.

But after adding the rice, he hadn't stirred it at all, he was completely focused on maintaining the fire in the stove, and didn't pay any attention to the pot.

The water in the pot slowly started boiling, and he had filled it too high with water.

Without a doubt, the water bubbled over violently, spilling all over the floor.

Gu Zhi was stunned, he immediately stood up and took the lid off the pot.

Seeing the violent churning, he thought it was because his fire was too strong, so he immediately crouched down and took all the firewood out, throwing it to the side.

He stood back up to take a look, seeing that the churning had calmed down a bit, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Looks like cooking is not easy at all." Gu Zhi muttered to himself.

He really needed to learn properly!

After just a short while, he seemed to smell something burning.

He knitted his brows in confusion, looking left and right. In the end he discovered that his clothes behind him and the firewood had caught fire!

"Ah!" Gu Zhi was so frightened he jumped up, out of the stove, "How did it catch fire?!"

Seeing the fire about the spread, he hurriedly ran to the other side, scooped up a bucket of water from the water vat, and poured it directly over himself to put out the fire on his clothes, then grabbed another bucket of water to run over and pour on the burning firewood pile!

The fire was extinguished, but the firewood was all soaked, and water was all over the floor.

Gu Zhi was drenched from head to toe, looking extremely miserable.

The entire kitchen was also a complete mess.

Yu Yifan didn't expect that in the short time he went to the bathroom, the kitchen had nearly caught fire or was flooded.

"What's going on?" Yu Yifan looked at the completely drenched Gu Zhi, staring wide-eyed in shock.

"What have you been doing? Waging war in the kitchen?"

"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to..." Gu Zhi said guiltily.

Just then, Sang Li happened to walk over to the kitchen, and saw Yu Yifan standing at the door.

"Yu Yifan? I smelled smoke just now, was it coming from the kitchen?" Sang Li asked.

When Gu Zhi heard Sang Li's voice, he became extremely nervous and didn't know what to do with his hands and feet.

"Sister Li, come take a look yourself!" Yu Yifan said helplessly.

Sang Li walked into the kitchen and saw the mess, she was also rather surprised.

"What happened here? Gu Zhi? What are you doing in the kitchen? And why are you all wet?" Sang Li asked several questions in a row.

"I...sis, I'm sorry, I originally wanted to make breakfast for you all, I didn't expect this would happen..." Gu Zhi said guiltily as he lowered his head slightly.

"Make breakfast?"

"Yeah, he doesn't even know how to start a fire, yet he wants to make breakfast." Yu Yifan shook his head as he walked over and lifted the pot lid.

"Oh my word!" Yu Yifan exclaimed, "How much rice did you add?!"

"I...added half a pot..."

"Half a pot??? Don't you know rice expands when cooked?"

Yu Yifan hurriedly scooped some of the rice out with a ladle.

Gu Zhi was stunned, it seemed like he had caused trouble for his sister and the others.

He had just promised his sister yesterday that he wouldn't cause any trouble.

Yet today he nearly burned down the kitchen, and made a huge mess of the place.

Would sister think he was useless and drive him away?

Thinking that Sang Li would drive him away, Gu Zhi became rather anxious.

He immediately ran in front of Sang Li, "Sis, I'm really sorry, I didn't do it on purpose! I only wanted to do something for you, I didn't think I would mess up so badly, I'm sorry...don't drive me away okay?"

Seeing his flustered state, Sang Li's heart inexplicably softened.

She glanced down at his hand and knitted her brows, "Didn't I tell you not to get your hand wet for now?"

Gu Zhi looked down at his hand, the white bandage wrap was all wet.

Gu Zhi unconsciously bent his fingers, not saying anything.

"Come with me." Sang Li turned and left the kitchen.

Gu Zhi obediently followed behind her.

Sang Li went to Gu Zhi's room, took the medicine she had bought yesterday from the table.

"Come over here and sit." Sang Li said gently.

Gu Zhi walked over somewhat uneasily and sat down next to Sang Li.

"Sis, I'm really sorry..."

Sang Li didn't say anything more, she grabbed his hand, undid the white cloth wrap, and applied medicine on it again.

As their fingers made contact, Gu Zhi's gaze flickered involuntarily.

"Since you don't know how to cook, don't try to do it." Sang Li suddenly said.

"I can learn, really, sis what do you like to eat? I will be sure to earnestly learn how to make it!" Gu Zhi quickly said.

Sang Li glanced at him, "You don't need to treat yourself like a slave, even though I bought you, you only need to treat me like a friend."

"Sis, do you look down on me?" Gu Zhi asked somewhat aggrievedly.

"Is telling you to treat me as a friend looking down on you?" Sang Li asked back.

Gu Zhi lowered his head a little, "Then why won't you let me repay you?"

"Is nearly burning down the kitchen your way of repaying me?"

"......"

He knew it, sister must look down on him now.

He really was so useless, he hated himself so much.

Could it be that he was this useless before he lost his memories too?
