Yuki’s POV

Author : Skip this if you have watched the movie Wolf children. it is a rough summary of the movie :

Plot :-

College student Hana falls in love with a werewolf and has two half-wolf children with him: a daughter, Yuki, and a year later a son, Ame. Soon after, their father is killed while hunting food for the children.

Hana's life as a single mother is difficult; Yuki and Ame constantly switch between their human and wolf forms, and Hana has to hide them from the world. When she is visited by social workers concerned that the children have not had vaccinations, Hana moves the family to the countryside away from prying neighbors. She works hard to repair a dilapidated house and sustain the family on their own crops.

One winter day, Ame almost drowns in a river after trying to hunt a kingfisher, Yuki saves him and Ame becomes more confident. Yuki begs her mother to let her go to school like other children. Hana accepts on the condition that Yuki keeps her wolf nature secret. Though Yuki's classmates find her strange at first, she soon makes friends. However, Ame is more interested in the forest, and takes lessons from an old fox about survival in the wild. In 4th grade, Yuki's class receives a new transfer student, Souhei, who realizes something is strange about her. When he pursues her, Yuki transforms into a wolf and inadvertently injures him, leading to a meeting with his mother and teacher. Souhei tells them a wolf attacked him, absolving Yuki of blame, and the two become friends.

Yuki and Ame fight over whether they are human or wolf. Two years later, while Yuki is at school, a storm gathers and Ame disappears into the forest to help his dying fox teacher; Hana goes after him. The other children are picked up from school by their parents, leaving Yuki and Souhei alone. Yuki reveals her secret to him by transforming into a wolf. Souhei tells her he already knows, and promises to keep her secret.

As Hana searches the forest for Ame, she slips and falls unconscious. Ame finds her and carries her to safety. She awakens to see Ame transform into an adult wolf and run into the mountains. She realizes he has found his own path and accepts his goodbye.

In the following year, Yuki leaves home to move into a dorm in junior high school. Ame's wolf howls can be heard far and wide in the forest. Hana, living alone in the house, reflects that raising her wolf children was like a fairy tale, and feels proud to have raised them well.

-------------

This movie is basically about parenting and how your children choose different paths as they grow. Yuki chose to be human while Ame choose to be a wolf.

It is a movie about self discovery and how we are able to choose who we are.

A very good movie. It is one of the very first movies that got me into anime.

_______

Chapter Begins :-

[Yuki]

She was running, running, running.

Yuki loved running.

But not this one.

Because her heart was also racing, racing, racing.

Her mother was at death's door.

She should have never left her.

She had come to the city with her mother because her mother was very, very sick.

As she was from the countryside, she couldn't help her curiosity and had left her mother in the hospital to explore to the city for a bit.

Just now the doctors had called her and said her mother was in critical condition.

Her mother was the only person she had left.

Her father died when she was a baby and her brother, Ame had abandoned them to live the life of a wolf.

Her mother was the only thing she had left.

She didn't have friends nor anyone close. At one point in her life she thought she had friends.

But they all leave when they saw her true self.

Because when they really see her.

They judge.

'People hate wolves.'

She was different. She could try all she wanted and put on different masks to fit in but at the end of the day, she was different. They wouldn't accept her.

Her mother was the only thing she had left.

Love too. She had loved a boy once. But that didn't end well.

The boy betrayed her after his initial interest of her disappeared.

So yes, in her short life Yuki had tried to connect with others many times but she always failed.

She couldn't even connect with her own brother

Truly, her mother was all she had left.

Yet she was also dying. The worst part is she wasn't there for her. Like she had always been there for Yuki.

'Stupid, stupid, stupid.'

She shouldn`t have left her mother. She should've stayed by her side even when she was laying unconscious on the hospital bed.

She ran through the city in her wolf form. Her worry and fear fuel her legs to move at a speed faster than she had ever experienced.

Running in the city was a lot different from running in the countryside.

There were buildings, roads and cars. But Yuki did not care.

She smelled her mother's scent and she blindly followed it. Uncaring of the correct way or the cars.

She needed to hurry.

That's all she knew.

She ran and ran and ran, until she heard a strange sound. It was so loud, her sensitive ears were hurting and that made her freeze. She looked towards it.

*HONK!!!!*

It was a speeding truck.

She was not moving. She thought she was going to die.

Her life flashed in white light. Death creeped on her.

The only thing in her mind was the fact that no one would miss her if she died. Except for her mother who was probably facing the same fate at her.

In that short instance, she felt like she despaired for eternity.

But then she felt powerful and warm arms embrace her. The most remarkable scent filled her nose before the truck hit.

*BAAAM!!!*

She felt no pain.

Something was protecting her.

What was protecting her?

She didn't know.

The only thing she knew was that she was safe.

She passed out for a moment due to shock.

And when she opened her eyes again, she saw the most stunning eyes she had ever seen.

A feeling akin to an electrical shook run down her spine because of those mystic purple eyes.

They stare.

At her.

They don't judge.

Like them.

They looked kind.

Unlike other eyes.

She stayed like that for a while, the eyes stole her breath.

'Give it back.'

Her heart fluttering yet she did not notice it. She was too lost.

Finally she escaped from the trance and she regained her sense again.

Her mind could finally think again.

'My mother!!' she widen her eyes and escaped from that person`s embrace.

She ran again but when she was on the other side of the road, she stopped.

She looked back and inhale his remarkable scent again. It smelled very good and she memorized it.

Then she was on her way to the hospital again. Her head was clearer this time and she was more careful.

She still felt the shadow of his embrace around her and that seemed to give her strength and confidence.

She soon reached the hospital and immediately turned into a human in the public toilet before she ran up to her mother.

---__---__---__---__

Luckily, her mother was okay.

She had been extremely worried but the doctor said that her mother's condition had stabilized.

She still had the only thing left.

Now she was looking out the hospital window. The hospital had a wide garden for patients and she was looking down on the garden.

Two things were on her mind.

Her mother and that remarkable scent of the person who was protecting her.

Now that her head was clear and she was calm, she realised that she did not even remember the face of her saviour.

She wished she had the chance to meet him again.

The sun was high in the sky and the wind blows gently, carring different scent for Yuki to smell and examine.

And amongst those scents she smelled a very distinct sent.

!!!

The smell immediately attracted her. The scent penetrated her nose and slithered down her nerves, warming her insides.

She recognized that smell.

She followed the scent with her eyes and noticed someone walking in the garden.

It was him. She was sure.

The one who saved her.

That smell. Those eyes.

She observed him carefully for a long time. She did not know why she never got tired of staring at him.

He greeted the other patients in the garden and Yuki thinks that he was a good person.

Then she looked at her mother who was sleeping peacefully on the hospital bed.

She paused, thinking for a moment.

.

.

"I`ll be right back mom. I need to thank him." She told her unconscious mother.

Then she go to him.

She did not know why but she found the thought of being in his company very pleasant.
