A random pokemon journey

Tournament

"Rayquaza's side of the conversation was done via aura speech and as you are not an aura user you were unable to follow it. Anyway the reason for my meeting with Groudon was merely a whim of the legendary so there is nothing to worry about." I said and they all looked like they believed me to varying degrees. "If it's not a problem can you at least tell us what boon she gave you?" Birch asked curiously. The others were also interested in learning this information as well and were looking at me with the same curiosity.-

"It's not a huge deal really as she just empowered Gaia a good bit is all. After that I was dismissed and left." I said technically without lying. "Oh? How strong is the lass now you reckon?" Watson asked intrigued. "She's easily the most powerful member on my team with no competition at all. I can't say for sure where she stands against the elite four or even a champion level pokemon but she is definitely pretty high up there in sheer power." I said seriously. "At the rate your team is improving you might soon be able to give me a run for my money Alex." Steven said with a smile.-

That was true too as my metaknowledge from the games meant that I was uniquely aware of all the little details that trainers in this world took for granted but could raise a pokemon to extreme heights in a very short period of time. For example move mastery in most cases was trained by practicing a move over and over again until the pokemon got better with it. In my case though I had my pokemon focus on mastering their type energy instead so that they picked up a move of that type way faster and mastered it in a flash.-

In addition most trainers try to have their pokemon exercise to improve stats which did work but not as well as full contact mock fights between them where their bodies adapt faster and grow at the same rate. Pokemon were simply biologically designed to rapidly improve from outside pressure and damage so all I did was replicate those conditions in moderation so they grew but weren't suffering unnecessarily. Add on the regular battles I have them do with the local wild pokemon all my pokemon rapidly improved.-

I had only been in this world for about nine months and yet was firmly in the elite category of trainers thanks to this methodology. After Steven and Watson left Birch tried to study my spear while I effectively focused on raising my last few members to level one hundred. Yani needed to evolve to hit that point so she was basically excluded from this training but Rune, Tank and Hades needed that last little push to get over the triple digit hurdle. Tank was the easiest to get there as some intense sparring with Vulcan brought him up and over that point in two weeks time.-

Hades was a bit harder to elevate due to not really having any type weaknesses due to it's innate ghost and dark typing. Not to say that some moves didn't hurt more but none were super effective as both those typings had a strength to the others weaknesses. Instead it was the nature of the move it got hit with that decided if it hurt more than usual. For example ground and rock type moves were pretty much ignorable for the ghost but a fire or electric type move made it hiss and cringe in pain.-

As a result Hades and Rune were paired up as sparring partners since they were both keyed into the others weaknesses. Rune was faster and had elemental attacks that Hades needed to figure out how to deal with and Hades was all about tricks and low blows that Rune struggled to deal with. Still by the time the tournament I was hosting rolled around the only member of my team not at level one hundred was the little one that couldn't train like that yet as it was still maturing.-

It was a cloudless and clear day when the date of the tournament hit and you would have thought it christmas with how excited Birch was. The large man was in a hurry to get to the colosseum since he was one of the guests of honor and wanted to show his good side. Not that I could blame him as he likely hoped that he could try and convince some younger generation folks to take up the path of research. We both rode Rune to the area that the colosseum had been set up in where Slateport once was.

The whole area was covered in tents of every color as people had camped out to get good seats when the gates officially opened. Vendors were taking the oppurtunity to sell stuff at marked up prices and there were even a few people that you could tell were here to compete as they had pokemon out getting last minute warm ups down and tactic set up. The colosseum itself was not some grand or gaudy thing but a simple massive stone structure much like a football stadium with many seats for spectators and even a small enclosed area for league officials like the champion and gym leaders to sit away from the common rabble.-

Birch got dropped off there where a few people had already arrived since this was not an event to miss. Steven, Roxanne, Norman, Brawly, the twins and Elite four Sidney and Elite four Glacia were already there chatting amongst themselves. I assured them I would be up myself eventually before I made my way to the presentation area in the center of the massive arena. There four pokeballs and a large egg sat on a pedestal with digital projections of the pokemon within them being shown floating above them.-

I walked over to the foreman in charge of setting up this whole event "Open the gates, it's time to fill these empty seats." I said and the dude nodded before running off after handing me a ear piece with a mic on the end. I stood patiently in the center of the arena as people began to pour into the colosseum and take their seats. Unsurprisingly the first few rows of seats were taken immediately as those were the closest to the action and thus the most desirable. While this was happening the rest of the gym leaders and elite four showed up with Wallace himself arriving fashionably late after them.-

Once it was clear that everyone that was coming was here I put on the headset and looked at the sound people at the side of the arena who nodded and gave me the thumbs up. "Welcome one and all to the first ever New leaf tournament! I am the host and sponsor of this whole event , Alexander Drake! As you can see before me these are the prizes for this tournament with the ultimate victor walking away with my dearest Gaia here's egg!" I said using my roar ability to really project my voice from the speakers as I released Gaia in all her glory onto the arena.
