Chapter 12 Hallucination

The birds rushed into the water like crazy, trying to drag the bodies in the water to the shore.

Chen Jianqiu and Sean also ran over to help. Among the corpses were men and women, old people, and even children.

The current became more and more turbulent, and the birds were washed down and were about to be swept away by the current.

Chen Jianqiu grabbed his arm, and Xiao En grabbed his other hand. The two of them dragged the bird to the shore in a hurry.

Feiniao lay on his back on the shore, then struggled to get up, looking at the corpses one by one in despair.

"My mother isn't in there, no, I have to go find her." He ran to Huey's side, got on his horse, and headed upstream to Pegasus.

"Let's go, follow him, something will definitely happen to him in his current state." Chen Jianqiu motioned to Sean to get on his horse, and the two of them followed Feiniao closely.

The sights along the way made them more and more frightened. There were many corpses of Indians lying dead by the stream. Chen Jianqiu observed that many of the corpses were face down and had gunshot wounds on their backs. It was estimated that they were chased and shot from behind.

Asuka and his horse stopped as the horse broke out of the mountain road and stepped onto a higher level land.

There was a piece of scorched earth in front of him, the ground was burned to black, and the remains of items were scattered everywhere. A few remaining unburned wooden poles could still vaguely distinguish the conical structure of the original tent, and there were several burnt bodies inside. The corpses, from their posture, one can imagine the pain of being roasted alive.

Feiniao rolled off the horse and fell to his knees with a bang, and a mournful howl resounded throughout the valley.

However, not far away, there was a gunshot, and a blood flower bloomed on Asuka's shoulder, and he fell backwards.

Chen Jianqiu, who was already on full alert, raised his shotgun and fired two shots in the direction of the gunfire, but the range was limited and it didn't seem to cause much damage.

Gunfire rang out all around.

Chen Jianqiu didn't hesitate. He held the black carrot between his legs, leaned down, picked up the flying bird on the ground, and placed it on Sean's horse.

"Hold his wound." He shouted at Sean, turning the horse's head at the same time, "There is an ambush, retreat!"

Black Carrot didn't wait for his master's orders and rushed out first. Sean lay on the horse's back, tightly protecting Asuka, and following behind them was Asuka's horse, Huey.

The gunshots were still ringing out intermittently, but except for the first shot, which was particularly accurate, the other shots were all normal.

"Chase!"

Two horses galloped out of the woods beside the ruins and chased in the direction of Chen Jianqiu and the others.

It began to rain heavily in the sky, and the raindrops connected into a line, forming a rain curtain, soaking everyone who passed through the rain curtain.

"Sean, can Feiniao still hold on?" The rain hit Chen Jianqiu's head, leaving it along his forehead, and then poured into his mouth.

"What? I can't hear you!" Sean couldn't hear clearly from behind. He glanced at the flying bird under him and his face turned pale.

Chen Jianqiu turned around and glanced at them. Knowing that Feiniao was in bad condition, he stood up and observed it before driving his horse into a forest on the side of the mountain.

"You keep moving forward. The woods ahead are dense and the rain will be lighter. Find a cave to raise a bonfire." He turned over and dismounted and shouted to Sean on the horse.

"how about you?"

"I'll stay and deal with the two pursuers." Chen Jianqiu took out the Indian tomahawk from Huey's saddle bag.

Sean nodded and continued along the mountain road.

……

"Second Lieutenant, it is too difficult to track them in such heavy rain. The visibility is low, and the rain will dilute their horse hoof prints." A soldier on the horse said to the officer in front.

"Shut up, there is only one road down the mountain from here. As long as we can still see the marks of horse hoofs, we can continue chasing." The second lieutenant cursed, "The Indian is injured and can't go far. The leader said we should try our best. If it's alive, it's best to leave it in a cage and put it on display."

The two also arrived at the place where Chen Jianqiu and the others separated.

"Second Lieutenant, look what that is?" The soldier suddenly pointed to the forest on the roadside.

The lieutenant wiped the rain off his face and looked around to see a black horse wandering alone beside a tree.

"Isn't that the horse of the Chinese person among the three people just now? Why is the horse left here but the person is missing?"

The two of them also stopped and turned into the woods.

"The horse must have been injured by a stray bullet. They abandoned the horse. We should continue to chase forward." The soldier began to analyze.

"It's also possible that they are hiding in the woods." The second lieutenant pulled out the pistol from his waist. "They hid the other two horses to ambush us."

There were three bandits on the other side, and one was wounded by a gunshot. Judging from the return fire, there was only one shotgun. This thing was useless in the woods; the two experienced soldiers on my side, even if they were on the opposite side, Hiding has no chance of winning.

The rain fell from the gaps in the coniferous forest. The visibility in the forest was not high, but it was no problem to see clearly ten meters away.

Where is it hiding on the other side? Behind the tree?

The two walked towards the black horse cautiously. The black horse didn't seem to have any intention of running away. Could it be that he was really injured as his subordinate said? These three people wouldn't really abandon their horses and run away.

They went back to back, searching behind every tree.

Just when they were approaching the dark horse.

Suddenly, a black shadow fell from the sky like a big bird, and the next second, a sharp Indian tomahawk struck the soldier's head from top to bottom.

The lieutenant turned around suddenly and pulled the trigger.

However, it was too late. The black figure in front of him dropped the ax embedded in the soldier's head, hugged his waist and threw him to the ground.

The second lieutenant lost his balance and shot Lonely with his gun in the air. Before he could get up, a feeling of suffocation came from his neck. The black figure had already grabbed his back, and a strong arm locked him firmly. neck.

His body was clasped by the black shadow's legs like a python, and he could not escape no matter how hard he struggled.

The rain hit his face, and his eyes radiated fear and despair.

The person in his arms quickly fell into a coma, and Chen Jianqiu stood up covered in mud. He drew out the Indian tomahawk and rubbed it on the corpse's clothes.

Just when he was about to end the life of the man in front of him with an axe, a piece of paper slipped from the second lieutenant's pocket.

After wiping away the blood and rain mixed with his face, he bent down, picked up the piece of paper, and read it.

This is a letter from home, written to my mother in New York, complaining that as both a chief and my father's father, I am not given any chance to make contributions to my career.

This thing turned out to be a big fish.

……

Sean held the flint in his trembling hand. He tried many times but could not light the bonfire.

He looked at Asuka lying on the side. Although he was not unconscious yet, he was in a bad state due to blood loss.

"This is too wet to light. You have to scrape some dry rosin and use a knife to peel off the bark. There might be some dry stuff inside." Feiniao gasped.

"Just use the gunpowder in the bullet." A horse neighed from outside the cave, and Chen Jianqiu walked in. There was also a strong man tied with a rope on his shoulders, and a rag found from nowhere was stuffed in his mouth.

The two of them looked at the two extra revolvers on his waist and the blood stains on his jacket that had not been washed away by the rain, and knew that a bloody battle had just occurred.

Chen Jianqiu threw the second lieutenant beside the fire. He took out a few bullets from his pocket and handed them to Sean.

Sean carefully unscrewed the bullet head and poured out some gunpowder. Chen Jianqiu cut the wet bark of the branch to reveal the dry part inside.

The bonfire was finally lit, bringing a touch of light and warmth to the cave.

Chen Jianqiu glanced at the half-lying bird in the firelight. His silhouette appeared on the cave wall, swaying with the firelight.

Suddenly, he had a hallucination.

Asuka's face gradually turned into a strange middle-aged man he didn't recognize, with yellow skin and Chinese origin.

He covered the wound on his shoulder with his hand, gritted his teeth and said to Chen Jianqiu: "Chang Luo, please leave quickly. Beyond this mountain is the border of Guangdong. There will be people in the villages at the foot of the mountain to pick you up. I will drag them here." For a while! Let’s go quickly...ah!”

The pain made the middle-aged face distort and gradually blur.

When he came to his senses, the middle-aged man's body turned into that of Asuka again, and Asuka's gunshot wound occurred.

"What's wrong with you?" Sean turned to Chen Jianqiu as he went to help Feiniao.

"It's nothing." Chen Jianqiu took out the dagger, "I have to take out the bullet for him first."
