America 1881: Legend of the West

Chapter 2 1 Fire

Chen Jianqiu is a time traveler.

When he woke up, he was lying on an old train from San Francisco (now San Francisco) to Salt Lake City. Then he was thrown into a coal wagon in Salt Lake City and traveled over the mountains to Stone Spring.

The Chinese workers built the Pacific Railroad with their flesh and blood, and coal was eligible to sit on it, but they themselves were thrown together with coal.

In the month since he traveled back in time, Chen Jianqiu could only think about things that were close to him. As for why he came to the United States, he had no idea where his body and all his abilities came from.

He found a job as a miner in a coal mine in Shiquan Town. The owner of the mine was a kind-looking old man who offered him $20 a month and worked 12 hours a day.

This $10 is two weeks’ wages!

Chen Jianqiu threw the flour to the Chinese uncle who had just walked out of the tavern and was about to go home: "Uncle, please trouble me again." He rushed towards the black man.

When the black man saw him chasing after him, he stopped pretending to be drunk and ran away.

After running around a corner, Chen Jianqiu realized that he seemed to have made a mistake. Letting a black man run into the dark night is like letting a chameleon into the forest. Even if he is squatting in a corner, he is not easily discovered.

The smog has not dissipated, there are no street lights on the streets of the town, and the black people retreat into the shadows.

"Damn it!" Chen Jianqiu was a little annoyed. He looked down and saw a horse-tethering post on the side of the road. Then he thought about it and kicked the horse-hitching post.

There was a muffled "dong" sound, and Zhuangzi obviously didn't buy it. Chen Jianqiu picked up his feet and jumped while cursing: "Damn it, fuck you!"

The moonlight shines onto the street, and the lights from the windows of the houses along the street disperse into the haze, forming hazy patches of light and shadow.

At a street corner, a crescent-shaped white arc of light suddenly appeared.

The black man laughed.

"stop!"

Chen Jianqiu roared angrily and rushed over with a single lunge. There were no signs of injury on his feet.

The black man realized that he had been trapped, so he quickly shut his mouth, turned around and ran away. But this time the pursuers locked onto his trail and began to pursue him.

Seeing the distance between the two getting closer, the black man ran around a corner, climbed over the fence, and jumped into the backyard of a big house.

Chen Jianqiu followed closely and followed in. He recognized this big house. The owner was the coal mine owner who looked very kind. Except for the place where they came in, the entire yard was a low fence with walls on both sides. The black man panicked and broke into a dead place.

At this time, the black man had been forced to a corner near the window of the house. He turned around and shrugged.

"Hey, brother, what are you chasing me for?" the black man said.

"Then why are you running after me?" Chen Jianqiu's smile appeared on his face again. His right hand began to press the knuckles of his left hand, and the knuckles made a clicking sound.

Seeing this, the black man changed his face again. He stepped back and put on a boxing frame, punching twice with a "swish" gesture: "Brother, I advise you not to mess with me. I have practiced boxing. I..."

Before he could finish speaking, he had already received a solid punch in the face. The black man staggered back a few steps and sat down on the ground.

Chen Jianqiu took a wrong step forward and grabbed his collar: "Money?"

The black man shook his head and was completely discouraged. He took out the banknote from his arms and handed it to Chen Jianqiu.

Chen Jianqiu just put the money in his arms.

There was a loud bang.

The back door of the house was opened with a bang, and a man fell out and fell to the ground. Another figure carrying a bow and arrows and an ax followed and walked out of the door.

"Your accomplice?" Chen Jianqiu pressed the black man under him with his backhand and asked in a low voice.

The black man shook his head hastily, indicating that he knew nothing.

"Colonel Robert! Do you still recognize this ax?" The black shadow raised the ax in his hand and said to the old man lying on the ground, "You think you can escape the punishment of blood and fire by the gods by hiding in this town. What?"

With the help of the lights in the house, Chen Jianqiu saw clearly the face of the old man on the ground, who was the boss of the coal mine.

He sat up unhurriedly and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. The former kindness on his face was completely gone and replaced with a sarcastic expression: "I have killed too many Indian bastards. It makes me think Think about it, who are you? Ah? Crazy Horse's bastard?"

The dark figure holding the ax walked into the light. It was a young Indian man. His trembling hands raised the ax high.

"You can also choose to put down the ax and run for your life." The coal mine owner smiled sinisterly, teasing the young Indian's fragile nerves. "The sheriff will be here soon, and then you will be like your idiot father. He died miserably.”

There was a "pop" gunshot.

A bullet hole appeared on the coal mine owner's forehead, and blood began to flow from the bullet hole. The old man's eyes widened and he fell backwards with an expression of disbelief.

Another figure came out of the back door of the house, holding a six-shooter revolver with smoke still coming from the muzzle.

Chen Jianqiu knew this man, he was the town's police chief - Sheriff Morris. He was also carrying a box in his hand, and he didn't know what was in it.

Before the Indian boy could react, his head was suddenly hit and he fell forward like a wooden stake.

The Sheriff skillfully took out a rope from his waist and tied the Indian tightly. Then he checked the revolver in his hand. After ejecting all the bullets from the roller magazine, he stuffed the gun into the In the hands of Indians.

Then, he took out the gun in his waist.

Only then did Chen Jianqiu hear the sound of "crackling" burning coming from the house. After a while, the flames and thick smoke had climbed out of the second-floor window.

"What happened!" Chen Jianqiu and the black man seemed to understand what was happening at the same time, and they were ready to find an opportunity to escape.

But a familiar voice rang.

"There are two people inside, raise your hands and come out."

Johnny, who was still in the tavern just now, had already led four men with rifles to block the backyard door. Three black muzzles were pointed at the corner where Chen Jianqiu and the black man were.

The two of them were helpless, raised their hands, and slowly walked out of the corner.

"Boss, what do you say?" Johnny looked at Morris.

"The Indian got into the old mine manager's house, stole his gun, killed the poor old man with it, and set fire to his house." Morris came down the steps carrying the box. ,"I'm late."

Johnny was stunned for a moment, but quickly acted and asked one of his men to carry the Indian out.

"What about these two people?" Johnny pursed his lips in the direction of Chen Jianqiu and the black man.

"Take them away together, the gangsters." Morris said simply.

The black man's eyes widened, and Chen Jianqiu was also a little unbelievable.

A black man and a Chinese man, guarding an Indian in the backyard of an old white mine owner? What about the liar?

But Chen Jianqiu did not resist. A rifle was pressed against his waist and his hands were tightly tied.

Johnny pushed him behind him and said sullenly: "Boy, do you know how our people here treat criminals? I will treat you well."

He put his hand into Chen Jianqiu's clothes, took out the ten-dollar bill, patted his face with the bill, and smiled unbridled.

Two men woke up the nearby residents and put out the fire, and the remaining people locked Chen Jianqiu and the others into the carriage. Heading towards the police station on the other side of town.
