Chapter 57 - Treasure Chest!

"For the main god, space and time are meaningless. It doesn't care how long you spend on a mission or how long it takes for you to successfully level up."

"But for us, the agents specifically selected by the main god, very few engage in underhanded tactics."

"The vast majority, or I should say most agents who die, perish due to their own choices and inadequate abilities."

Yas's tone was a bit heavy, completely different from Luke's impression of him.

"I don't intend to stop you from leveling up because I don't have the authority to make choices on your behalf."

"But I hope you remember that failure is not frightening. There's no need to sacrifice your life for a momentary competition."

Yas looks at Luke with sincerity, hoping his message gets across.

However, he doesn't wait for Luke's response. As he mentioned, he doesn't intend to make choices for Luke. If Luke can take his words to heart, that's enough.

"But honestly, becoming a B rank directly after the first official mission is quite terrifying. Hey, Kleya, who was the last person to do this?"

Referred to as Kleya, she is a woman with long, black, flowing hair. She pushes up the glasses on her face and responds in a calm tone, "Anyone who has reached B rank in the first mission and successfully completed the upgrade mission in the second, as long as they haven't died, without exception, all become S rank."

As she spoke, she flipped through the thick book she had been holding in her hands, and a soft glow flashed and disappeared.

"The most recent one should be the 'Zoo' currently challenging the 'Ladder.'"

The Ladder is a significant facility accessible to agents once they reach B rank.

Strong individuals who ascend the Ladder can receive corresponding rewards based on their rankings after each mission.

Due to the main god space's mechanism for selecting agents, where factors such as thoughts, character, and inner qualities play a major role, many agents don't possess exceptionally outstanding talents.

In the main god space, reaching B rank is already considered powerful, and a considerable number of agents get stuck on their first upgrade mission, unable to advance for a long time.

Even so, B rank individuals can rely on the accumulation of time to achieve a qualitative change, completing their upgrade.

Some exceptional cases exist for A rank individuals succeeding through this method, emphasizing the idea that time holds little meaning in the main god space.

The only difference is the S rank.

Once you advance to S rank, you will receive a summon from the main god space. This summon is voluntary, and you can choose whether or not to accept it.

If you choose not to accept, the main god space won't restrict your strength growth. However, your authority won't be promoted to S rank, and your agent level will forever remain at A+, until you finally accept the summon.

If you accept the summon, your authority will be elevated to S rank, and the mission duration will be entirely different from agents of other levels.

This is also why the "Magic Tower" was excluded from the top-tier team forces due to its leader's promotion.

Their leader is no longer able to continue leading them in missions.

However, for a team that has produced an S rank agent, the main god space will not allow it to naturally decline due to the loss of its captain.

If a team can nurture one S rank agent, it's possible to nurture a second, third, or even more.

So, facing such a team, the main god space provides additional privileges, including an increase in mission rewards, +1 level in team permissions, optimization of the probability in random rewards, and more.

To a large extent, this kind of treatment is somewhat similar to the "Authority Holder/User" title that Luke holds, although without the same degree of enhancement as Luke's title.

In other words, the main god space has already assumed that Luke will definitely become an S rank powerhouse, so it provided these privileges in advance to allow him to grow quickly and safely.

As for what needs to be done after becoming an S rank and accepting the summons, no one knows for sure.

Currently, it is only known that after becoming S rank, the frequency of appearances in the main god space will significantly decrease. For most agents, trying to climb the Ladder ranking might be the only option if they want to see an S rank.

After a bit of "playfulness" with Yas and the others, Luke left.

Having acquired so much information about the main god space, he needed to organize and digest the content.

Regarding the upgrade mission that Yas mentioned seriously earlier, Luke didn't pay too much attention to it.

There is a reason why upgrade missions are divided into two types, long-term tasks and high-difficulty tasks.

They are not randomly assigned but specially arranged based on the current situation of the agent.

Some agents undergo long-term accumulation, wanting to achieve a qualitative change through quantitative growth. These agents will be assigned a high-difficulty upgrade mission.

On the other hand, agents like Luke, who have reached the upgrade requirements after only a few missions, will be assigned a long-term task. This allows these agents planning to "skip levels" to have more time for settlement and accumulation.

Whether the steps are too large or too small, problems can arise. The existence of upgrade missions is meant to better aid the growth of agents.

This information is part of the privileges that Luke, as an "Authority Holder," possesses. It was provided as an additional comment on the panel during the settlement.

Without going anywhere else, Luke went straight back to his own home.

He lay on his bed, recalling the information he had obtained today, trying to see if there was anything he might have overlooked.

As he pondered, he seemed to remember that he still had two treasure chests left unopened.

Two chests, one C rank, and one B rank.

Luke looked at the two chests, feeling a bit troubled.

Because he felt that, at this stage, he didn't seem to need anything in particular.

Would it be better to take the chests to the trading area tomorrow, sell them, and exchange them for points?

Items like settlement chests are quite popular in the trading area, especially B rank chests; there's no worry about not getting a good price.

But Luke was a bit reluctant. After all, with the blessing of the "Authority Holder" title, the items obtained from the chests are likely to be something he can use.

After much contemplation, Luke ultimately decided to open the treasure chests.

After all, the joy brought by the "lucky draw/lottery" is something that cannot be replaced by anything else.
