Ant King In MHA

Chapter 105: Scout and Recon

__________ POV Beru__________

In the end, not much else happened before the raid.

I only went away momentarily to make some small preparations to my arsenal. I don't really want to be caught in too troublesome a situation.

Other than that, a bit of talking, a bit of briefing from Mirko. Even with all her disdain for teamwork and teams in general, she gives a pretty swell pep talk.

Well, I guess that's a hero for you, they are kinda trained to be versatile. Although not all have a knack for leadership.

Currently, roughly 300 heroes are all preparing to be transported somewhere near Deika City, the headquarters of the Meta Liberation Army.

That transportation would normally take around 2 hours from our current location... But we do have me. Who in the name of god tries to ride a helicopter when they can just teleport?

"All right everyone~! Buckle up and stand straight, prepare your stomach and your brains for disorientations!~ You're about to experience the Beru express teleportations service~ Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride~Thank you~"

I teleported on the stage next to Mirko and said my piece with great energy. I was expecting at least a few laughs, but I guess they are all a bit tense.

Can't blame them, the heroes are vastly outnumbered in this raid. But they don't have much to fear. Our enemies are nowhere near as skilled as us.

I'm not even putting myself in that equation(that would be unfair). A group of 300 heroes won't get easily overwhelmed.

Well, the mission of the assault team turned from, being loud and gaining the attention of the army, to somehow breaking through the defences of the army and allowing the rest of the teams to do their jobs.

The sabotage teams are the only ones that still have some work. They need to cut the power to the entire city from the nearby power plants. Not only electricity, gas, water, just about every facility possible.

That would likely be more efficient if we just asked the government to do it. But there's no time for stupid paperwork and meeting arrangements.

We need to take things into our own hands, and Kenji has the jurisdiction to make such choices in dire times.

After looking at the silent and wary crowd for a moment I just breathed a frustrated sigh. If only Mic was here... Then I'd at least be vibing with him. "You guys are no fun~ Oh well, whatever~"

As I breathed out another sigh a purple mist seeped out of my mouth and expanded into the crowd. Some were taken by surprise, jumping backwards or trying to avoid it.

But it covered the entire room in seconds. The heroes were left baffled at the speed of the mist.

Truth be told, Kurogiri could never make it this fast. But I can combine a few more quirks with his. In the first place, Warp Gate is an artificial quirk, a combination of multiple quirks that somehow gave All for One this result.

And it only worked on Kurogiri for some reason. All for One himself didn't have this quirk in his arsenal. Killing the old fuck would've been impossible otherwise.

Well, not really. I could cut his head off before he even got to blink once. But that's just details.

"A warning would've been appreciated..." Said Mirko from my side. She was one of the people that jumped back when I started spitting out the mist.

"Did I do that whole speech for nothing?~ What were you expecting?~" What the hell? Does she want me to give her written instructions on how to react to my teleportation quirk or something?

"Tsk... Just do it already." I just rolled my eyes and snapped my finger once. The sound of which echoed in the large room quite easily.

Then, everybody started sinking into the purple mist. Most of the heroes looked uncomfortable, so I took the executive decision to make them even more uncomfortable.

"Uhhh~ It's so nice to have this many people enter my body at once~" I could hear Mirko's teeth cracking.

What can I say, this would've worked better if I was like Kurogiri, made out of the purple smoke. But I'm not, so it doesn't hit the same.

"CAN YOU BE SERIOUS FOR ONC-" Mirko was starting to shout so I warped her away quickly to let her cold down for a few seconds.

Jeez, people need to remember how to take a joke.

The heroes looked at me strangely. Not even Nemuri, who I expected to be fully on board with that joke, was smiling.

Oh well, you can never please everyone(or anyone at all).

__________ POV Midnight__________

Since when is Beru so close with that Rabbit Hero?

I mean, it's been a few days since I've last spoke to him after that home visit that I still look back on and cringe.

But when did he get the time to get this close with someone?? I know Mirko a bit, she's not the type to fall in love and all that.

But she never, and I mean never, tolerates that much nonsense from anyone. Yet, she seems to be ignoring Beru mostly.

She only got mad at that last part, but usually, someone joking with her and annoying her like that would be kicked at least a few times.

Not only that, when she was mad she said 'For Once'. That implies that she has already spent some time with Beru before because he's never serious. (mental gymnastics and overthinking all in one paragraph)

I find this rather suspicious... But it's probably just my imagination... Right?

__________ POV Narration__________

It was indeed her imagination. But that misunderstanding was to be cleared much later.  For now, these thoughts will weigh on Nemuri's mind

But enough of drama! We have a war to wage!

Beru teleported all of the groups to their assigned dropoff spots and then rejoined with his team. There, the insectoid could instantly tell that Mirko was a bit less aggressive towards him and that something seemed up with Nemuri.

All Might was the last to show up, Beru received a ring on his watch to warp him after he reached his team.

__________ POV Beru__________

"Ooh~ The all star's coming in~" I opened up a portal and out came a serious-looking All Might wearing his hero costume.

"Beru... It's been a while." Toshi turned to me with his usual smile.

Even though he's serious, he's still pretty relaxed compared to the others. I guess being strong can do that to someone.

Still, I can tell that the very appearance of All Might has boosted the morale of this small army to the roof.

And yes, 300 is a small army. I think it would actually be decent-sized in the middle ages. But, enough about that, there are plenty of things to do right now. And none of them involves me thinking about stupid things.

First off, usually, they'd have a small scouting team to gouge their defences. But they have me, so I'm the scouting team here.

I don't really mind, it's about as easy as anything these days. Being stuffed with powers like a turkey on independence day still has its advantages.

"I'll go check them out~ Be right back~ Hope you don't miss me too much~" I warped away as the last words escaped my mouth.

I arrived above the site of Deika City, I was so high in the sky that it's really improbable for anyone to see me or hear the flapping of my wings.

After activating High Spec and looking down, I can see that they are indeed quite prepared for a raid to happen.

Their numbers were given to us wrongly, or maybe they managed to recruit more people in that short time?

That's unlikely, not with the number present here. Maybe our source of information was never right, to begin with.

There are at least 30000 people that I can see with my eyes currently, and that's without counting the thousands of clones that litter the streets of that blasted city.

All of the fighters seem to be pretty well equipped with gadgets and I can also see traces of traps here and there.

The traps were probably set up long before they knew a raid was going to happen though, preemptively.

Other than that, there doesn't seem to be anything special around these parts. Overall, these fighters shouldn't be too much of an issue.

The problem will likely arrive when the leaders of the army intervene. I doubt any of them are weak, but it's going to be successful either way.

Our numbers are not much in comparison, but quality does have value in these situations.

Without much further ado, I warped back to the team and looked at them with a bit of pity.

"Ok~ First off~ Their numbers are jacked~ It's more around 30000 than 15000~ That's without the clones~ And there are plenty of those around~" I spoke in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear me.

I could hear quite a few gasps and a lot of whispering. Mirko looked at the team with a critical eye, it seems that many are intimidated by the doubling of the number of villains.

But there were still a few that kept their composure.

And, thankfully, they still have All Might to rely on.

"I understand young Beru... Their numbers matter little, we are all professional heroes. Being outnumbered is part of our job." His ever-present smile and serious words seemed to calm down most of the people in the team.

"Yea~ Well~ I can take care of all the clones if you want me to~," I said while looking at Mirko.

"How are you going to tell if they're real or not?" She said sceptically. She clearly doesn't want any unneeded casualties.

"Yep~ I can use a quirk to determine that now~ Don't worry too much~," I said while waving her concerns off.

It didn't really work. But the effort's there. So I can't really complain.
