Ant King In MHA

Chapter 190: New Symbol

_________ POV Narration_________

Although the main crisis in everyone's mind had been averted, the situation below Beru was anything but peaceful.

Down on the ground, they didn't really know that there were more meteors coming towards them.

Everyone covered their ears when the Ant King's fist came in contact with the meteor, and many heroes hurried their rescue efforts as the shockwave from the impact created a raging storm throughout the city.

Many buildings collapsed due to that storm, including the centre of it all, the hospital. But that was to be expected, after all, the hospital itself was already in ruins.

Izuku was at the forefront of the heroes at the scene, rescuing all the civilians he could and using his superior speed to the maximum.

Bakugo and Todoroki weren't quite as suited for rescue operations, but they still assisted greatly in blowing away debris and other obstacles.

Ochako managed to find shelter for herself and her child as she also rescued whoever she came across. Her quirk made helping out trapped people quite easily.

Nezu had also noticed the giant meteor and had mobilized every single pro hero at UA to help with the rescue operations.

The heroes on the ground didn't need to struggle against the harsh winds for long though, as the storm had died down in just a few seconds.

And the instant that the storm died down everyone could once again look up at the sky.

And the scene they saw was flabbergasting, to say the least.

Their eyes were glued to the sky, this time it wasn't in fear or desperation...

They could barely see Beru, merely a dot in the sky at that point. But the meteor above him was clearly visible, still burning with fury, but it was completely stopped.

People could clearly see it, the thing that had just threatened to end the lives of countless people, harmlessly suspended in midair, still shadowing over the entire city.

It made everyone heave a sigh of relief as civilians started taking refuge from the small pieces of falling debris.

But as the dust settled, people could finally notice the actual scale of Beru's attack. The large hole that Beru managed to punch right through the meteor.

To say that the people below were in awe was a large understatement. Cheers erupted in that very instant, either from the heroes or from the civilians.

Everyone that had witnessed that scene felt a certain kind of jubilation that could be hardly described.

They had survived, even better, they got to witness the real strength of the one that they considered the 'Strongest Hero'.

Sure, the crisis wasn't completely averted as the meteor was still up in the sky, but it was no longer barreling towards them at breakneck speeds.

The mere presence of Beru made everyone feel like the situation was already resolved. There was no longer any need to cry and scream in panic.

Up in the sky, Beru remained unaffected by the situation below. Instead, he stared at the other three meteors with a thoughtful look. He could now clearly size them up.

They were nowhere near the size of the one he had just stopped, but they were still large enough to cause a lot of damage to Japan, should they make direct contact.

Beru spent a second strategizing how exactly to stop all three of them at once. They were still rather far off from entering the earth's atmosphere.

A few minutes off to be exact, it was a rather good time frame, it gave Beru some time to think about his actions...

But not a lot of it, the large meteor that he had just punched a hole through was still a threat to the people below. Although a much smaller one compared to what it was previously.

Still, he couldn't quite let it fall, so he was stuck holding it up with his shoulder for a bit of time. To make things a bit easier for himself, he also grew in size.

He expanded his body to the point where it was visible even to the people below.

People instantly started cheering, fists raised to the sky with renewed energy as Beru's expanding back became an image etched into the minds of everyone at the scene.

Even prideful people like Bakugo had to do a double-take, stopping to wonder how a person so unreliable in his day to day life could become a pillar of support at the flip of a switch during such a harsh time.

Nezu had very similar thoughts, although he already knew perfectly what Beru was capable of. The principal couldn't help but sweat as he realised something...

Beru had just cemented himself as the new Symbol. The new pillar that society could rely on. One so powerful that there was no such thing as a villain or a disaster that he couldn't stop.

But Beru didn't really think about the implication of his actions.

He had rushed the meteor knowing that he was the only one that could help in this situation, he did so without hesitation and without holding back.

Maybe he had finally gained a sense of obligation due to his title? Maybe he just didn't like the thought of everyone he cared about dying a quick yet horrible death.

Regardless, becoming a symbol was so far out of his mind that the thought didn't even occur to him.

He ignored the deafening cheers from below as he calculated the best course of action to stop the next three meteors.

Then a great idea came to his mind, with great vigour, his wings expanded once more, this time becoming hundreds of meters in length, with a heave, he started flying upwards with the destroyed meteor on his shoulder.

Out of his upper and lower back, large tails sprouted out with great speed. Expanding and getting a much better grip on the large and still burning space rock.

Beru's plan was rather simple, use the big rock to crush the smaller ones(the most obvious solution). The problem was going to come with how well Beru could lift up the first meteor.

He didn't have enough confidence to push it back into space, to break through the atmosphere one needed to reach an adequate speed, one that Beru didn't find quite possible in his current situation.

The weight of the large meteor wasn't exactly small, so that certainly didn't help Beru's situation a lot.

Instead, Beru was going to rely on the mass of the first meteor to soften up the landing for the other three. After the first meteor shattered to pieces, stopping the three smaller ones was going to be much easier.

At least that was what he was planning to do. The theory was sound, at least at face value. The only thing left to see was if it was actually feasible in practice.

The people below also noticed Beru's movement, as he pushed the meteor upwards at a decent speed.

Some were confused, some thought he was just carrying it away from civilisation, to avoid causing any more damage to the city.

Then, some members of the audience finally noticed the reason why Beru was going upwards, not sideways.

"T-THERE'S MORE!?!" A civilian with good eyesight pointed at the sky in a panic.

Everything was blocked by the first meteor, the only way people caught sight of the other meteors was through the hole Beru made.

The realisation once more send ripples through the crowd. But this time they were no longer panicking like before...

No, this time the sentiment was much more different.

"YOU CAN DO IT!!" "C'MON BERU! YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!" "WE BELIEVE IN YOU!!"

Cheers erupted once more. The panic they felt from the threat approaching them was vastly overshadowed by the feeling of safety that the giant back of the Ant King gave them.
