Athena in Tower Defense Game! [LitRPG]

0049 – Athena In Goblin City

Since this work recently reached third place in the series ranking, I've decided to publish three chapters today.

He looked at the goblin hairs in his hand and laughed for a long time, saying, "It's been a long time since I've seen those little guys, the third world..."

His voice was so low that Athena couldn't hear him clearly.

Athena stood calmly on the side, listening to him muttering to himself. The other slowly raised his head, his wrinkled face full of seriousness, his eyes sharp as he looked at Athena.

"But you want to go?"

"Yes, please show me the way." While speaking, Athena handed the white wine in her hand to the other person. Without a word, the other person took the white wine, held it under his nose, took a deep sniff, and showed a look of intoxication.

Then he aimed the bottle at his mouth and gulped down half of it.

There was a crackling sound of bones, and the hunched old man in front of her started to straighten up, his appearance reverting to that of middle age.

"Ha, good wine, hahaha!" The other person's voice was hearty and full of vitality, completely different from the crazy old man with white hair before. The guide glanced at Athena with a sideways glance.

"The round-trip expenses have been paid. Follow me closely."

With these words to himself, he walked ahead, leading the way. Athena followed closely behind him. Wherever the middle-aged man passed, the dense fog dissipated layer by layer with the tapping of his cane, revealing a hidden path.

Neither of them knew how long they had walked or where they had arrived. It wasn't until the fog dissipated and Athena followed the guide to a corner that they reached a teleportation gate.

The guide's hair began to turn slightly gray. He placed the white wine under his nose again and took another sip, and his hair returned to its jet-black color.

He tilted his head and pointed at the teleportation gate with his cane. Looking at Athena, he said, "Here we are. I'll come to pick you up within three days. Don't miss the time."

"I won't need three days."

Discover goblin instance teleport entrance, want to enter, Yes / No ?

"Yes"

The dormant teleport entrance began its slow operation. Athena stepped into it, swallowed by the teleportation array, disappearing from the guide's sight.

The guide paid no attention, retracing his steps back the way he came. He placed the white wine under his nose again, sniffing its aroma delicately, occasionally exclaiming, "Good wine, good wine!"

Entering the teleportation array, unlike the dizzying teleportations she had experienced before, this time it was a narrow, dark passage that she had to traverse herself.

Detecting possession of the World Stone, yes/no for disguise.
Goblin instance consists of friendly units, no disguise required.

"No"

Stepping into the narrow, dark space, when she emerged, it was bright outside. This was an underground world, with countless glowing stones embedded in the ceiling, illuminating the entire underground world like daylight.

A goblin city...

In this underground world, goblins each had their own duties, maintaining the operation of the city as proper civilization.

For the sudden appearance of Athena, only a few goblins glanced curiously at her before shifting their gaze away. Athena surveyed the underground market, with its intricate stone streets and various open-air markets scattered throughout.

There was no sense of technology here, only a few wooden houses and a few stone buildings making up this underground market.

She roughly scanned the various shops; all kinds of goods were included, but there were no food or clothing stalls. A small goblin squatting beside the stone street, upon seeing Athena's appearance, burst into excitement in his green eyes.

He hurriedly approached, speaking in words Athena couldn't understand. After attempting two languages, he finally spoke words she could understand.

"Dear visitor from the third world, is this your first time in Goblin City? I can give you an introduction for just five silver coins!" Seeing Athena's cold face, he felt a bit frightened, trembling his ears and quickly making amends.

"But the goblins in our city are hospitable. Let's just take 3 silver coins."

She was unfamiliar with the place and didn't know the direction. Having a guide would be nice. She materialized the system's silver coins and handed them to the little goblin. The little goblin looked happily at the silver coins in his hand, instantly perking up.

"Alright, let me take you to see the chieftain first. Guests who come here always need to see the chieftain first."

"Mm."

The surrounding goblins and little goblins were very familiar, almost all the goblins would greet him upon seeing him, and it was common for them to see a human like Athena following behind him.

After only a few minutes of walking, the little goblin led Athena to the center of Goblin City. There stood a huge stone house, adorned with intricate patterns on the outside.

The little goblin waved to the two guards at the door, and the goblin guards let the two pass.

"Yako go, yako go." Sitting on the main seat, the old goblin with a crown on his head opened his eyes, his eyebrows, teeth and beard were both white and perfect.

Even though he was very old, there was not a trace of confusion in his eyes.

"Visitors from the third world?"

"You all arrived earlier than usual. You are the sixth to come here." The old goblin sat upright on the seat, his expression calm, yet his words were astonishing.

Sixth?

"Come here, put this on."

The old goblin beckoned to Athena, indicating her to come forward, and took out a grass-made bracelet.

[ Goblin Bracelet ]
 Type: Identification
Effect: Language Translation
Introduction: Symbol of the Goblin City for guests. With it, you have the qualification to trade in the Goblin City.

Seeing Athena put it on, the old goblin nodded slightly.

"As you can see, we live underground. If possible, I would prefer you to exchange clothing and food supplies with us."

Aathena didn't reply because she knew it was just the old goblin's statement and he didn't expect her to respond.

The little goblin beside her tugged at her sleeve, indicating that they should leave.

It wasn't until they left the stone house that the little goblin looked at her in confusion and couldn't help but ask, "How did you manage to remain calm under the pressure of the chieftain?"

Pressure? The old goblin just now emitted pressure towards her...

Athena didn't answer, and the little goblin wisely kept quiet.

"Where is the workshop here? Take me there."

Different from her previous thoughts, Athena had thought this place was a city without order, like a world of mindless green flesh-eaters, doing unspeakable things especially towards women.

Don't judge the book by its cover huh

After coming here, Athena realized that there was a complete system, a complete civilization. For many goblins, this place was their home.

She couldn't just directly take away the goblins, and the possibility of persuading the goblins to leave with her was slim. She didn't know where [ Big Bear ] had obtained the goblins from the silver package, not to mention wood goblins.

Goblins that specializes in woodcutting and woodcraft, I suppose?

This greatly exceeded her expectations, disrupted her plans, and made her very distressed. Now she could only take it step by step. If things didn't work out, she could still make some trades, at least she had to bring something back.
