Athena in Tower Defense Game! [LitRPG]

Chapter 79: Dark Fruit Descent

Infiltration was the best approach. Once the plan was set, Mikmik didn't even rest, immediately darting back out.

Smooth sailing brought it swiftly to the transparent boundary, slipping inside.

It crept forward cautiously, afraid to make a sound. Suddenly, it heard a faint noise and froze, flattening itself on the ground, observing the surroundings.

The yellow giant bee nest appeared again, hundreds of bees swarming. Despite its enormous size, Mikmik doubted it could accommodate so many giant bees.

As it approached closer, Mikmik finally saw the inside of the nest: vast yet hideous, emitting a foul stench.

Worker bees were bringing batches of eggs from the queen bee, arranging them meticulously. Rotting bodies on the ground served as nutrients, nurturing these yellow giant bees.

Both sides of giant bees thrived on corpses as nourishment. Mikmik removed three explosive balls from Athena's back and buried one beneath.

Heading towards the main nest, the four queen bees remained inside guarding, not moving their steps, but they would soon depart.

Mikmik circled the nest, strategically placing the explosive balls in corners, boldly positioning one right next to the queen bee.

On the other side, Athena cautiously exited the cave, vigilant of her surroundings, never halting, heading towards the central area of the Black Forest.

Her sole purpose here was to lure more giant bees, ensuring the chaos escalated.

Though the players who came here valued their lives, they were also a group of madmen who, when necessary, wouldn't hesitate to risk their lives.

Along the way, they encountered giant bees, but these bees now only followed orders, ignoring Athena. They bypassed her directly, heading to the battlefield where the fight was much more critical than Athena's. This surprised her, who was prepared for battle.

However, no fight was a smoother path to the scene.

She moved like a hunting cheetah, agilely maneuvering and leaping between tree trunks, simultaneously sprinting.

Meanwhile, some large bees accompanied her, but they bore no hostility towards her, perhaps incapable of independent thought, merely obeying commands.

Finally, she reached the central area of the Black Forest. As she attempted another step forward, she realized she couldn't proceed any further, a strong sense of danger enveloping her.

Looking up, she saw the sky above dominated by countless giant bees. They circled and battled, forming an overwhelming scene that blocked out the sky, with corpses occasionally falling like scattered meteors from above.

Faced with such a spectacle, her heart raced uncontrollably. These giant bees were fighting fiercely over treasures, and the victorious side would gain the right to harvest the fruits.

Stepping in further, she was certain a giant bee would swoop down and strike her first.

Even from a distance, Athena noticed the distinctly unique tree. It stood amidst a dense forest, particularly eye-catching.

The branches of this tree were unusually lush and towering, casting a dense shade that seemed to blot out the sky. If not for the complex and massive root system below, Athena wouldn't have recognized it as the small sapling it once was.

What was even more peculiar was the faint glow emanating from the entire tree, giving it an aura of mystery and awe.

However, the most eye-catching feature of the tree was the withered flowers on its crown, from which sprouted a single emerald green fruit. The fruit was plump, brilliantly colored, translucent, and exuded a tempting luster.

Two enormous giant bees hovered around it, seeming like guardians of the fruit. Whenever treasures appeared, they would inevitably incite a bloody struggle.

Cold sweat trickled down Athena's forehead. She involuntarily swallowed, her gaze fixed firmly on the verdant fruit ahead, unable to look away, so enticing it was.

Above her head were countless monsters. The tree, which bore fruit, was originally a bizarre creature. Beside it stood two immensely powerful creatures on guard. Just thinking about breaking in made Athena's adrenaline surge.

She must have been crazy to do something like this...

Arrived at the central area, unlocking event 'Dark Fruit Descent'!
[ Dark Fruit Descent ]

At specific times each year, boundless darkness would bring mysterious gifts, granting exclusive favor to the Black Forest. Any young sapling had the potential to become the chosen one by destiny, transforming into a fearsome tree creature!

These tree creatures possessed unimaginable abilities, rapidly growing and blooming with brilliant flowers and bearing dark fruits through blood and nourishment. When they reached a critical point of growth, they became the coveted treasure of all monsters.

Their growth requirements demanded an astonishing amount of blood as food, leaving behind only rotten fruits amid the corpses.

[ Regional Chat Channel ]

"Help! I dare not venture out, I don't want to die as soon as I step outside!"

"Do we really have to hide in here for the remaining two days? This is so frustrating!"

"In fact, it's not all bad..."

- "Sharing data on Tree Monster Leaves."

- "Sharing data on Tree Monster Skin."

- "Sharing data on Dark Fruit."

"Come out quickly! As long as you don't enter the central area, those giant bees won't attack you."

"Are you guys not tempted at all?"

There was a brief silence in the chat channel, followed by a frenzy of messages. Even amid the flood of messages, Athena's data sharing was preserved due to its uniqueness.

"Haha, no one would really go, right?"

"Are they insane? Where did this data come from? Is it real? Leaves and skin of just one tree?"

"We definitely can't beat them. Everyone, stay put and don't rush out. Don't be swayed! Don't go, every life saved of region 4 counts!"

"Would you go? I certainly won't. This guy don't know the danger! Is he suicidal? So many giant bees!"
