Chapter 5: Good Grass

What?

Feng Jun was taken aback.

He sniffed and raised his arm to smell it. He then replied blankly, “I smell nothing.”

“It’s an unpleasant smell!” The owner raised his hand decisively and waved it in front of his nose. “You’re stinky, but you don’t smell it yourself. I’m just reminding you out of kindness. Other people might not do that.”

He was unwilling to annoy his regular customer.

To his surprise, Feng Jun laughed out loud after being momentarily taken aback. “Thank you for your friendly reminder, or it’ll be super embarrassing.”

Seeing him walking away with a broad smile, the owner also shook his head with a smile. “This darn kid is a good lad, but he’s really quite stinky.”

Feng Jun was happy for a reason. If his body was smelly, it meant that he was going through the process of cleansing his marrow and changing his tendons.

It indeed was a great adventure with all the necessary experience. It wasn’t an unreal adventure.

It was very easy to take a bath in Hongjie Fitness Club because there were shower facilities.

Considering that his clothes might also smell bad, Feng Jun returned to the dormitory to take a change of clothes, but he accidentally saw Zhao Hongqi’s desk with a mobile phone charger on it.

Why don’t I use his charger? Feng Jun thought to himself.

He didn’t want his new charger to be ruined right after he bought it.

This time, he used his right hand and successfully completed the charging process.

His old phone started to get charged slowly and firmly.

Feng Jun looked around. He then plugged the charger into the socket under the bed. He turned off his phone and hid it under the bed too before he picked up his clean clothes and walked out quickly.

When he stood under the showerhead, he found that his body was really dirty. The color of the layer of dirt on his skin was very close to that of his skin, and its permeability was also good, so he failed to notice it.

It probably was stinky, but not unacceptable, or the owner of the small restaurant wouldn’t have allowed him to dine there.

Obviously, the description of purifying marrow and changing tendons in web novels wasn’t correct, because the dirt wasn’t black nor very smelly.

Feng Jun used soap to clean his body three full times, which strengthened his determination to continue staying at Hongjie Fitness Club. It cost money to take a bath outside, and the club provided free soap.

After the shower, it was almost 1 pm, and the club wasn’t busy at this time.

Feng Jun walked out of the club and rode a public bicycle to a mobile phone store five miles away to buy a cheap charger that only cost him 15 yuan. In fact, he really had the desire to buy the newly-launched smartphone under the glass at the counter.

He didn’t want to save money after he experienced the adventure.

But, in the end, he restrained his impulse, not only because he didn’t find a way to make money with the adventure yet, but also because the dorm was too unsafe. He was worried about being robbed when he used the old phone, let alone these new phones.

After returning to the dorm, he replaced Zhao Hongqi’s charger with his. He then put the phone under the bed before he fell asleep. Sadly, he forgot to turn on the phone.

When he woke up from a nap and turned on his phone, he was surprised to find that it was already 4 pm.

The battery level of his old phone had reached 83%.

It was enough for today, so he unplugged the charger. When he was about to do something, Zhao Hongqi ran inside.

He was sweating, gasping for breath as he shouted at Feng Jun, “What’s wrong with you? Why do you turn your phone off? Manager Guo wants to see you right now.”

Feng Jun frowned and asked with confusion, “Is it an emergency?”

“It’s what happened yesterday,” Zhao Hongqi replied with a gloating smile on his face. “The club has been out of power, and Manager Guo doesn’t have time to see you until now. The transformer is repaired, and you were absent from work yesterday afternoon.”

Feng Jun gave him a glance. “Are you happy that I have bad luck?”

“Of course not!” Zhao Hongqi denied it at once and pretended to be serious. “You didn’t obey the rules, and the company should deal with it.”

Feng Jun wore a resigned look as he stepped outside.

The fitness club at this time was already a bit busy, but most of the people who came here were members and they were all public servants. They had done their job this morning, and could have a paid rest in the afternoon.

Because they were regular customers, they didn’t need much service.

Manager Guo had some free time, so she gathered all the free coaches and attendants together in the hall to train them. “Feng Jun, don’t you know you’re very late?” She gave Feng Jun a glare the second she saw him walk in.

Feng Jun was annoyed by her tone, but he forced himself to calm down. “I’m sorry, I overslept today. You can punish me for being late.”

Guo Yueling, however, wouldn’t let him go easily. “You’re late today, but how about yesterday? You failed to protect the image of our club, and you were even absent from work in the afternoon. I’m curious to know your secret to being so confident.

“The company feeds and accommodates you, but you’ve disappointed us. Do you think you can do whatever you want with your double degree? To be honest with you, there are countless graduates nowadays, and you’re not as valuable as you think!”

Hearing that, Feng Jun was full of anger. As a graduate, he could mock himself by saying that. Other graduates could do the same thing, but Manager Guo merely went to a special secondary school. It was swearing if she said something like that.

“I work to get paid. Why do you think that I get the food and accommodation for free? What happened yesterday was Liu Shuming’s fault, and you can’t blame me for that!”

He was in a terrible mood now, and he thought about quitting this job again. What a shame that he couldn’t have free baths and free soaps anymore.

“Why?” Guo Yueling laughed anxiously, and her voice got sharper and sharper. “Liu Shuming is the coach, so you can only be the one who’s wrong here. What? Do you disagree on that?

Although it was the truth, it still hurt. However, it was real life and a coach was always more important than a lackey. After all, only a few people had a certificate while there were countless young strong labour forces.

Feng Jun wasn’t mad, so he did tit for tat. “So what? What’s wrong is wrong, and what’s right is right. A coach certificate is merely a piece of waste paper in my eyes!”

Hearing that, all the coaches in the hall were displeased. They thought that Feng Jun was causing trouble here.

Actually, the second Feng Jun blurted it out, he regretted saying that, but he couldn’t take his words back.

Hearing that, Manager Guo smiled with disdain. “Let me tell you what, a coach certificate is indeed more important than your sh*t double degree in this industry.”

Feng Jun’s hands hanging around his waist slowly clenched. His eyes narrowed, and he gritted his teeth to ask, “Are you humiliating me?”

“Don’t flatter yourself.” Guo Yueling smiled coldly. “What? Do you want to beat me?”

Feng Jun didn’t have the idea to beat her. He was reluctant to beat a woman unless he was left with no choice.

He simply wanted to quit. The adventure had nothing to do with the dormitory. Even if he left now, only the expense would increase.

Nevertheless, right when he was about to say that aloud, a sweet cold female voice sounded behind them.

“What’s going on here?”

Everyone turned around and was surprised to see their general manager’s arrival.

Zhang Weihong was wearing a white short-sleeved shirt with a small collar and a light gray pencil skirt today.

Other women might look gentle with that look, but Zhang Weihong was different and looked bossy.

Women who didn’t wear stockings seemed to have less cover and disguise, and Zhang Weihong didn’t bother to hide her air of a boss.

Manager Guo didn’t find that their leader came until now, and she apologized right away. “Sister Hong, I’m criticizing him for his unacceptable faults. He’s late again today.”

“Really?” said Zhang Weihong.

Guo Yueling pointed at Feng Jun. “He must learn a lesson today and change his attitude at work from now on.”

After a second, she remembered something else. “Some members like his service, but he isn’t grateful.”

“Oh?” Zhang Weihong sized Feng Jun up. She clearly knew what it meant when members liked an attendant’s service. “Isn’t he the postgraduate?”

Feng Jun frowned. He disliked it when other people called him postgraduate.

“Right.” Guo Yueling nodded. “His name is Feng Jun, and he never gets along well with other people in our club.”

“I know.” Zhang Weihong nodded again. Her eyes lit up all of a sudden. “Feng Jun, you’re ‘Falling Flowers’ in the game, right?”

“Um.” Feng Jun felt a little embarrassed to talk about games at work time.

“Right, his name in QQ is ‘Falling Flowers’!” Zhao Hongqi said.

Zhang Weihong gave him a glance and dropped this topic.

Actually, she came here today for a reason.

“Liu Shuming, don’t sexually harass our customers again, or you’ll lose your job. Do you understand?” Zhang Weihong’s eyes fell on Liu Shuming.

Liu Shuming felt scared and answered at once, “S-Sure.”

No one dared to ignore Hong Jie’s warning.

Zhang Weihong was their boss, and they must listen to her.

Liu Shuming felt that he was heavily sweating now.

After that, Zhang Weihong glanced at Feng Jun and nodded slightly. “You have good grass.”
