Blue Silver Grass Strategy (Douluo Dalu Fiction)

Chapter 89: The Second Soul Skill

In his own tent within the military medical camp, Ling Yi had freshened up and meticulously groomed himself. He gazed at the little white rabbit he had just borrowed from Old Man Yao with a 'kind' smile dancing on his lips.

The next moment, the scene took a rather unsettling turn.

Ling Yi, now resembling a villainous antagonist, tossed aside the bloodstained dagger he held and turned his attention to the red-and-white rabbit before him, its limbs tightly bound, yet still struggling desperately. Wasting no time, he summoned his martial soul, the "Blue Silver Grass."

As soul power surged into it, and his thoughts guided the process, the vibrant blue vine-like martial soul began to radiate with an aura filled with vitality.

“Second Soul Skill—Limb Regeneration!” he intoned softly.

As the words left his mouth, a pale yellow-green light emanated from his palm, where the "Blue Silver Grass" resided, and enveloped the rabbit on the ground.

Astonishingly, the wounds that had just pierced the rabbit, leaving it riddled with gruesome cuts and gashes, began to heal at a rate visible to the naked eye.

One breath, two breaths, three breaths…

In just over three breaths, the three gaping wounds—one situated across its chest, another on its abdomen, and the last on its right forelimb—had ceased their geysers of blood. Ignoring the white fur that had been stained red, it seemed as though the rabbit had never been injured at all!

Ling Yi, with his heightened mental focus, could sense that the three wounds caused by the sharp dagger had completely healed. Skin, muscles, blood vessels, even internal organs and bones that were once severed, reconnected seamlessly.

Time seemed to flow backwards; the dagger’s icy blade, gleaming with cold light, never seemed to pierce through the rabbit’s body.

That is, if one ignored the blood staining the rabbit’s fur and the ground.

Different from the 'First Soul Skill: Vigorous Life' and other healing soul techniques of recovery-type soul masters, Ling Yi's second soul skill ensured the blood spilled by the rabbit wasn’t in vain. However, the rabbit remained somewhat weak, lacking the vitality one would gain from energies related to water, wood, light, or similar life-boosting attributes.

No, there was a trace of wood element life energy nourishing the rabbit's wounds, but it was faint and obscured by the soft yellow-green light enveloping the rabbit, radiating a certain wondrous aura.

With his full mental faculties engaged, Ling Yi arrived at these conclusions.

As he ceased the supply of soul power, the luminous light faded, yet that wondrous aura persisted over the rabbit’s original wound sites, lingering there for a while.

Watching the rabbit's movements slow significantly due to blood loss and its violent struggles, Ling Yi adopted a contemplative expression.

Had he used the 'First Soul Skill: Vigorous Life', not only would the rabbit's wounds have healed, but saturated with vital energies, it would still be energetically writhing, rather than appearing like a lethargic, frostbitten eggplant now.

"So, in terms of effectiveness, this soul skill from the eight-hundred-year-old 'Lady Luo's Blue Silver Grass' is not as good as the previous three-hundred-year-old 'Blue Silver Grass' soul skill?" Ling Yi pondered.

"Has the directional induced mutation experiment on 'Blue Silver Grass' failed?"

Ling Yi's gaze was fixed on the three wounds still enveloped by a mysterious aura. With a steely look in his eyes, he picked up the blood-stained dagger he had just discarded. In one swift motion, he sliced off a piece of flesh about the size of a pinky finger.

It was a tiny segment of a rabbit's ear.

This time, a miraculous scene unfolded.

If it were the 'First Soul Skill: Abundant Vitality' or any other healing soul skill, the missing section of the rabbit's ear would undergo rapid hemostasis, scabbing, and healing. However, at this very moment, what appeared in Ling Yi's view was a layer of fleshy, rosy muscular tissue, accumulating and surging at the wound.

Within just a few breaths, a perfectly intact rabbit's ear, only missing a small tuft of white fur at the tip roughly the size of a pinky, appeared before Ling Yi.

Stopping the soul skill, Ling Yi examined the flawless rabbit ear, now with a small patch of missing fur, then glanced at the discarded, bloody segment of rabbit's ear on the ground beside him, plunging once more into deep thought.

Of course, while reflecting on his thoughts, Ling Yi casually used his 'First Soul Skill: Vibrant Life' on the little rabbit the old pharmacist used for testing, restoring the energy lost due to blood loss.

……

With a sense of unrest as time trickled away, Ling Yi returned the 'unharmed' but somewhat dejected test rabbits and mice to the old pharmacist. He then neatly prepared the chickens, ducks, geese, cows, pigs, and sheep as ingredients and handed them over to Chef Li Zhishu before retreating to his own tent with two roasted lamb legs.

Taking out a brand new dagger, Ling Yi began slicing the juicy, crispy exterior of the roasted lamb leg while reflecting on the half-day of experiments that had just transpired.

The good news was that his second soul skill turned out to be the 'divine skill' he initially envisioned!

When a part of an injured person's body is missing, this soul skill can regenerate the missing part using the mysterious energy transformed by the soul skill.

This includes, but is not limited to, skin, muscle, blood vessels, fascia, and even bones and internal organs!

Just imagine, during a battle, if your heart is pierced, this soul skill can instantly regenerate it. What kind of concept is this?

This signifies that from now on, as long as Ling Yi's soul power isn't exhausted, he possesses a pseudo-immortal body!

As a healer in the world of Soul Masters, one could truly achieve the legendary feat of 'bringing the dead back to life, and making flesh and bones grow anew.'

Upon learning this information, Ling Yi couldn't help but feel like he was the protagonist of some fantasy novel, experiencing a rare sense of wishes being fulfilled—as though he were a child of destiny, where rare occurrences always swing in his favor.

However, nothing comes without a 'but.'

Good news naturally comes paired with bad news.

The bad news is that the "Lady Luo's Blue Silver Grass," which has a mere 800-year lifespan, cannot match the domineering effects of the "Blue Silver Emperor's Right Leg Bone" soul skill, 'Wildfire Ends, Spring Blooms Again,' which spans over a hundred thousand years.

In the original story, Tang Hao severed his right arm and left leg but managed to reattach the severed "Haotian Sect" inheritance soul bones using Tang San's 'Sea God's Light' in conjunction with the "Blue Silver Emperor's Right Leg Bone" soul skill, achieving limb regeneration.

Likewise, earlier, when Tang San faced mortal danger in the 'Star Dou Forest,' he was saved by the sacrificial energies of the two mighty beast emperors, "Sky Blue Bull Python" and "Titan Ape," both also of a hundred thousand years. His severed right arm was restored with new flesh and bones thanks to the "Sky Blue Bull Python's Right Arm Bone," reborn as if never injured.

In contrast, Ling Yi's second soul skill, spanning merely 800 years, can regenerate body tissue to just the size of a common human finger.

Rather than calling this soul skill 'limb regeneration,' it would be more aptly named 'finger regeneration.'

"So, is this soul skill worthless now?"
