He asks dangerously. Meanwhile, a group of armored invisible soldiers carrying advanced weaponry immediately surround me and aim their weapons at me.

I see so that's what this is about, he thinks I killed them. I mean if you think about it's pretty logical given my past grievances with them and my skillset but something's wrong here.

Knowing Cecil, he won't just do something like this. Something doesn't add up.

In that second, I infiltrate his mind and read all his thoughts. Haha, I see now, okay Cecil, I'll play along.

"Why do you think I'm the one who did it?"

I question calmly while folding my arms, looking straight into his serious eyes.

"There are a lot of reasons but I'll give you just three. To start, you gave a death threat to the Guardians Of The Globe. Secon——"

"Wait, wait, you're twisting facts here Cecil. I threatened to kill Immortal, not the whole Guardians. I'm not a monster."

I correct him in a serious tone that makes his almost nonexistent eyebrows narrow at me.

"Right,...as I was saying, secondly you are one the few people with the necessary skillset and expertise to be able to finish them off with no virtually no resistance at all.

With [Psychokinesis], [Portal Creation], and your [Super Human Physiology], it wouldn't be an issue to annihilate the strongest superhero team in the world."

He pauses suddenly, turning his head to the left, and taps his earpiece.

"What is the third reason?"

I ask him—bringing his focus back—as his face becomes stern.

"I don't trust you..."

He ends and the place becomes silent.

I raise my eyebrow at this as a harmless smile blooms on my face and ask.

"So...assuming I'm the one who did it, what are you doing to do about it?"

Immediately, the air changes as he stares into my eyes fiercely—his eyebrows narrow even further—and around me, I can sense the muscles of the soldiers tensing as they increase the force on their triggers—ready for a confrontation.

It stays like this for a while then Cecil sighs—his stony face softening.

"On the lights! You guys are dismissed."

He orders and in just a second, the whiteness disappears—revealing a humongous and advanced facility—as the soldiers wordlessly leave.

We are standing on a long and smooth cream-colored walkway enclosed by short walls.

All around me, scientists and researchers donning lab coats are either walking around or attending to advanced pieces of equipment and various kinds of machinery.

"Did you actually think, this was going to work?"

I ask with a smile as he comes closer.

"Well, I had to at least try something. I've been under a lot of pressure lately so yeah."

He shrugs with a small smile.

Hehe, as if something like this can intimidate me. But this was fun, so it's right.

"Now that the act is dropped, why am I here Cecil?"

I ask as my smile disappears, and his face becomes serious.

"Walk with me Prime."

He says softly, gesturing forwards with his left hand.

I nod then we both walk quietly—at the same pace—eastwards.

As we walk, some of the scientists glance at us as my eyes observe the place.

This is the main laboratory of the Global Defense Agency and also the most advanced government facility in the world.

Almost every piece of alien technology is gathered here and this is also the place where they conduct some dubious and extremely shady experiments like cloning.....all in the name of protecting humanity and this planet.

After a few minutes of passing through different corridors, we arrive at the end of a corridor, and in front of it is a green hovering square-shaped machine.

Lying on top of it, are the body parts of Immortal and by his side is a bald, middle-aged caucasian scientist using extensions of the machine and some devices to attach the body parts.

Immortal's scruffy face is as serene as a virgin lake, if it isn't for the separated body parts no one would believe that he just got murdered.

...Even in death, his face is still annoying.

"It's nice to see that you guys enjoy desecrating corpses."

I comment sarcastically with a smile as the man continues to do his best to attach the steel-like limbs.

The man turns to me with a frown but he goes back to work when Cecil shakes his head.

"I'd appreciate it if you don't say these kinds of things here."

He gives me a look but I shrug nonchalantly.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it. So what's this about?"

"As you can see, we are trying to bring Immortal back to life.

We planned on doing this when everything has cooled down but we've hit a dead end with the investigation and as I said, the top brass—the president— has been pressuring us lately.

The public is also scared of the fact that there's someone or something out there that can kill the Guardians this fast. The killer needs to be found and hopefully, he'll give us some answers."

He explains slowly, his eyes fixed on the Immortal.

"I see, but why do you think it's a 'killer' not 'killers'? Also, why does it sound like you know who did it?"

I turn my head and ask. Still looking at Immortal, his expression changes and becomes as cold and hard as a rock.

"That's because, from the way they were killed, there's only one person who could've done this..."

I smile.

"...and who is that?"

He turns to me and whispers.

"Omni-man."

Looking at his face, I can't help but chuckle lightly and this makes him frown.

"You know don't you?"

"Maybe, but how are you that sure it's him? Surely, there might be someone out there who might be capable of doing this, even me."

I shrug with a smile and ask quietly, my tone laced with curiosity.

He turns back to face Immortal and replies,

"The moment he came to this planet, we observed him for a while and brought him in for questioning.

He told us his story, you know, about his race being this kind of messiah-like people who just spend their life moving around planet-to-planet to help and protect them and so we let him go peacefully with smiles but he was lying.

Everything that came out of his mouth was a lie and when we figured that out, we've been observing him and all those around him till now.

When I interviewed you two years ago, you didn't lie and this is why even though you're still technically a suspect, I'm more inclined to believe you're unguilty.

Plus, the wounds on their bodies indicate extremely high blunt force trauma, and the only one in the entire world who can make the Guardians meet at one place and kill them that easily is him."

He explains confidently, his tone dark and somber.

"I see, so what do you plan on doing?"

I inquire softly.

"Wait,...I plan on waiting till Immortal wakes up. I need him to testify and give us the proof we need to take Omni-man down, that's why you're here today. I want to ask you a favor."

"You want me to take him down."

I comment darkly.

"Yes, as it stands now, you're the only one who can possibly be his match. I want to know if I can count on you to help us take him down when the time comes?"

He looks at my face deeply and asks dangerously, his face brimming with determination.

"I was going to do it anyways. You can count on me Cecil, as you know, I don't tolerate evil."

I turn to him with a dark grin on my face and respond in a tone that visibly sets him off even though he nods calmly.

It seems, it's time I took the title as the world's strongest man...
