Danmachi- Hell’s Forge

Author chapter(Not a chapter)

I end up having to make one of these chapter for a lot of my stories at some point when I get a bunch of complaints or gripes about something and I feel the need to address the matters. So here we are with me the author here to explain some stuff that I probably shouldn't have to but do since it wasn't abundantly clear despite me writing it into the story.

First up we have why I had Alex go into the Hestia familia despite it being such a "vanilla" option. Gonna be blunt here but we don't know shit about almost any other familia in Danmachi. Best we get is little tid bits of information and the occasional introduction to a character that we'll probably never see again in most cases. In case it wasn't crystal clear that isn't a whole hell of a fucking lot of information to work with. The Hestia familia on the otherhand we see grow from rock bottom to where it is now and is in fact the only familia we know that much about. That is why I chose it for the familia that Alex is in.

Second on this list of things that I have to explain is that is is a FANFICTION! That means I took creative liberty with the story, the world and a few other things that everyone and their cat keep pointing out. If you are reading this because you are expecting everything to be the exact same as the source material then I'm sorry to say you are in the wrong place.

On the topic of things I changed is the timeline that this story is playing out on. I REALLY didn't like how rushed the original Danmachi timeline was. For those not aware the entire fucking story takes place within the span of one year. That means that in canon Bell goes from a weak nothing to a monstrously high leveled powerhouse in the span of an entire year. To put that into perspective in canon it took Ais an entire year to go from level one to level two. Like I said the story was frankly cramped as far as timeline was concerned and I wasn't alright with that so I changed it. I made it take longer for things to happen and spaced stuff out in a much more reasonable time frame.

Moving on we have the thing i have been getting a bunch of criticism for, power scaling. I have in fact boosted the average power of each adventurer in Orario at the time of them usually leveling up. See most adventurers went for leveling up as fast as possible and as a result didn't have max stats at the first limit before they leveled up. What I did was raise the minimum bar to level up, Hell I even covered this fact in one of the previous chapters.

In canon the minimum you had to raise a single stat to to level up was D 500 and the average adventurer would have a single stat at B 700 or A 800 before they leveled up while the rest were different based on their experiences and fighting style. The average canon falna stats looked something like this as a result.

Level:1

Strength: 536(D)

Endurance:559(D)

Agility:760(B)

Dexterity:620(C)

Magic: 332(F)

This felt wrong to me so I changed the average minimum a stat had to be to B 700 so that the on average adventurer would have higher better stats like this instead when it came time to level up.

Level:1

Strength: 636(C)

Endurance:659(C)

Agility:960(S)

Dexterity:820(A)

Magic: 432(E)

I also modified the stats of the truly elite adventurers falna to have been raised to the SS 1000-1500 level in one or two stats with the others being at minimum of B 700 because if you are going to make elites elite actually fucking give them stats that say so. You add on the fact that each stat point at level two is worth one and a quarter of a level one stat point and that difference grows the higher the level and Alex's stats while very high aren't TOO unreasonable. He's not as strong as a level five or six like you people keep saying but at MOST a high level two or weak level three. At the same time however this also means that it's going to be even harder for him to level up in the future because you actually need to do something impressive in regards to your current self to qualify to level up.

This means in exchange for the best possible status sheet he will need to go challenge shit that would kill people a level or more higher than him to level up to three and it will be even harder after that. Moral of the story is that yes as a matter of fact there is a balance in play so that he isn't unreasonably overpowered without a serious downside.

Moving on to the last thing I keep getting comments on, Romance. There is romance in this story but that doesn't mean it's the focus of the story or really anything more than a side note. Contrary to what people keep saying Danmachi is not a romance story but an adventure story with a heavy romantic harem subplot. It's about Bell adventuring and growing stronger while in the process attracting women to him by just being himself. In other words get off my back about it as theres nothing wrong with Alex not chasing skirt or dating and focusing on his goal instead. As I said there IS romance however so shut up about it already.
