Chapter 231: The Seal

"The Red Dragon!" Orianna hugged her brother, looking up at the dragon in front of her that spanned nearly a hundred meters. It had not fully emerged yet but with one swipe of its claw, it had slammed the previously haughty lich into the ground.

The oppressive might of the dragon made breathing feel constricted. Many ordinary humans who were avoiding the undead slaughter fainted on the spot, while the undead, who had been rampantly killing humans, cowered on the ground, trembling. Some of the weaker skeletons and wraiths even exploded on the spot.

The area near the city gate, which had been as noisy as a slaughterhouse, became utterly silent.

Orianna, somewhat dazed, looked around and then quickly realized that she seemed to have been saved by a dragon.

Being saved by a dragon wasn't particularly unusual. However, the fact that her savior was a red dragon known for its evil and destructive nature towards human cities was indeed very peculiar.

The events of the past few days were hard for Orianna to understand. First, there was the undead calamity, then she encountered a legendary lich, learned her father had been turned into a dark knight, and now, as she was prepared to face death, a red dragon appeared and saved her. Life's encounters were indeed unpredictable.

"Human girl!" Altres lowered his head, looking at the thoughtful Orianna and couldn't help but lick his lips.

But as the red dragon was about to make a move, an angry roar came from beneath its claw.

"Red Dragon, you're seeking death!"

Then, with a "boom!", a violent explosion occurred beneath Altres's claw. Centered on the dragon claw holding down the lich, the ground first bulged upwards, then rapidly collapsed. Nearby houses were shattered by the explosion in an instant.

Orianna and her brother were once again knocked to the ground by the shockwave of the explosion. Although they were close, most of the force was directed at Altres's dragon claw by the lich, so the siblings weren't harmed.

"Hiss!" During the explosion, the red dragon couldn't help but let out a painful roar. Its claw, holding down the lich, was lifted from the ground by the impact, and shattered dragon scales and boiling dragon blood spilled. Its claw had been injured.

"Gah gah gah, Red Dragon, this is what you get for ambushing me!"

In the blast zone, a pit over ten meters deep appeared. From it, a black-robed "skeleton," missing one bone hand and its bones riddled with cracks, slowly levitated, glaring at the massive red beast with an annoyed posture.

Could it not be annoyed? Ambushed by the red dragon without any defenses, its painstakingly cultivated lich body was almost shattered into bone dust. In anger, it had explosively detonated one of its bone hands, using the explosion to escape from the dragon's claw.

"A lich?" Altres lifted his dragon claw, already healing, and then looked at the half-destroyed skeleton with disdain.

"I ambushed you? Ridiculous, don't you see what you are? Worthy of my ambush? You just happened to be at the landing point of the phase gate His Highness deployed."

"Red Dragon, you..." Just as the lich was about to invoke the Dead Spirit Council's name to intimidate the sudden appearance of this giant dragon, behind the red dragon, more sleek green dragons appeared, their long dragon cries echoing, their brutal might unreservedly spreading, dispelling the necromantic fog in the area.

Seeing this, the lich shut its mouth. These dragons, who obviously appeared through teleportation magic, made it realize a serious problem.

The Bavarian Kingdom should have been spatially sealed by the council's bigwigs. All teleportation magic and arrays should be ineffective. However, the appearance of this red dragon and the increasingly numerous green dragons meant that the spatial blockade had been broken.

"It seems you've guessed something." A calm voice came from atop the red dragon, between its horns.

The lich, following the source of the voice, saw a black-haired, golden-eyed young man, his soul fire flickering intensely within his skull.

"Who are you?"

It was fearful. The red dragon, not concealing its aura and unreservedly releasing its might, had allowed the lich to accurately sense its level—peak of soul intent.

And the existence standing atop a peak soul intent red dragon, although he concealed his aura making the lich previously unaware of his presence, must be... Legendary! Thinking of this, the lich's soul fire trembled even more fiercely.

"My lord, I am affiliated with the Dead Spirit Council..."

"I'm not interested in your name!" Muria looked indifferently at the lich, riddled with cracks in its skeleton, and waved his hand backward, "Fiona, deal with it."

"As you command, Your Highness!" Behind Muria, a voluptuous woman with green hair and blue eyes slowly appeared, bowing slightly towards him.

Then, the uniquely shaped horn crown of the green dragon extended from the forehead of Fiona, now in human form. Following that, rune-covered scales emerged from her skin.

Transforming into a half-dragon, half-human monster, Fiona instantly appeared in front of the lich and, catching it off guard, punched its skull.

The lich's defenses, laid in its own bones, shattered under Fiona's fist. "Boom!" The lich's skeletal body turned into a gray shadow and smashed onto the ground.

"Another dragon, a soul intent level green dragon!" The lich, now in the ground, felt Fiona's leaking aura and thought of the dragons' address towards Muria.

The once vigorously burning soul fire retreated into the skull: "Run, I must run quickly. A big shot from the dragon race has come, surely for Lord Bertelain. I'm just a small character; how did they find me so quickly?"

"Damn!" Just as it prepared to use teleportation magic to escape again, the lich found the magic ineffective, and the space was sealed again, "I knew this would happen."

"Don't think about escaping with magic, lich." A cold laugh came from above the pit, "His Highness has acted, sealing the space around here. You can't escape."

"You can't kill me." The lich slowly flew up from the ground, looking at Fiona in her dragon-human form, "How about letting me go? I will never report this to the council."

"Really brainless skeleton, 'dealing with you' doesn't mean killing you. You are a lich of the Dead Spirit Council, so sealing you is the only correct way to deal with you."

"Seal me!" The lich's soul fire in its skull trembled, and then, with its retreat cut off, it went completely mad, "You forced my hand, do you really think I have no power to resist? Come forth, my loyal minions!"

With a howling wind and rising deathly aura, following the lich's call, powerful undead were released: dark knights riding skeletal warhorses, fully materialized wraiths with clear pre-death features, abominations stitched together, bloated like meatballs, towering over ten meters tall...
