Chapter 247: Starshine Dragon King and the Sovereign of Ghosts

"Thud!" "Thud!"... The earth rhythmically trembled with the approach of a massive being, each step causing the ground to quake.

"Is that a stitched corpse?" Muria frowned, looking at the gigantic humanoid figure approaching from a distance. "Such a huge size, almost comparable to a mature Titan. What a monstrosity built from countless corpses."

"Roar!" As the third member of the Council of the Undead arrived for support, an ancient dragon, with a hint of reluctance, ceased its attack on Berlain and went to intercept the legendary undead, a colossal being formed from numerous bodies and radiating an aura of plague.

...

"Move aside!" A dispassionate voice echoed in the sky.

"Let's talk after he's dead!" A lazy voice responded, seemingly just awoken.

"He has already been killed once by your offspring."

"Dead? He seems quite lively down there."

"He's already revived once; his chances have halved. If killed and revived again, he'll lose all potential."

"Oh, that's for the best!" The lazy voice remained unchanged, even against the slightly angry one.

"Berlain cannot die today!"

"My offspring don't seem to want to kill him, just seal him. So, don't worry, he won't die."

"Being sealed by you, how is that different from death?"

"Actions have consequences!"

"He has already paid a price!"

"Not enough!"

"His chances of becoming epic are already half of what they were! That's a big enough price!"

"Not enough! After killing so many of my descendants, he shouldn't even dream of becoming epic." The lazy voice turned serious with a mocking tone.

"He is a lich I value!"

"So what?"

"Starshine Dragon King, are you sure you want to stand in my way?" From a previously empty part of the sky, endless black mist surged, with blood raining and countless vengeful and cursed heads from billions of dead souls weaving through it.

Within it, a colossal, towering figure hundreds of meters tall was faintly visible, exuding a terrifying aura. Just by standing still, web-like spatial cracks formed around him, persistently unable to heal.

"Hmph, just say if you want to fight, I'm not afraid of you!" Opposite the towering figure in the black mist, a dragon-shaped phantom sparkling with starlight, stretching for miles, appeared, blocking the sunlight in the sky.

This plunged a region of the world below into darkness. The sudden transition from day to night was a dire omen for the creatures below.

"Hehe, the youngest Dragon King of the dragon race, I've never fought you before. Let me see if you're as good as your reputation." From within the black mist, a huge hand reached out, grabbing towards the star-like dragon phantom.

Such a massive dragon phantom was, of course, just a manifestation. It represented the power of the Dragon King. If the real body of the Starshine Dragon King were this large, the figure in the black mist would have turned and fled.

"I'm not the youngest Dragon King anymore." The Starshine Dragon King, even ready to fight, maintained a lazy demeanor. "Sovereign of Ghosts Basalom, you're behind the times. Didn't you know our dragon race has a new Dragon King?"

"Oh, after thousands of years, a new Dragon King is born in your race! Congratulations. I'd like to meet this new Dragon King of yours." Basalom's crimson eyes showed indifference. As he spoke, his hand steadily moved towards the Starshine Dragon King.

"There will be a chance." The serpentine dragon phantom extended a huge claw, with countless stars converging at one fingertip, making it solidify and then pointing towards Basalom's extended hand.

The fingertip collided with the hand wrapped in black mist, and silently, a vast expanse of space collapsed and shattered around the point of contact, like a torn paper—everything happened in silence.

"Not bad!" Both epic beings collided, and the shattered space quickly healed. Basalom praised, taking a condescending tone, "You have strong control over your power."

"Basalom, you're not very impressive. Nearly fifty thousand years as an epic and that's all you've got?" The Starshine Dragon King sarcastically replied upon hearing Basalom's "evaluation," "To think you tied with me. I thought you could defeat me with a slap. What have you been doing all these years, studying bones?"

Hearing the Starshine Dragon King's sarcasm, Basalom remained silent, but the raining blood and cries of the cursed heads in the mist around him intensified.

The black mist surged as if a terrible monster lurked within. At the core of the dragon-shaped phantom, a lazy dragon with eyes as brilliant as the stars watched everything unfold.

The strength of an epic being isn't measured by age. Despite being thirty thousand years younger, the Starshine Dragon King didn't see himself as inferior to this member of the Council of the Undead.

"Enough!" Just as Basalom was about to strike again, a vast, deathly voice came from behind him, shaking the space with supreme authority.

"Council Head!" In the black mist, Sovereign of Ghosts Basalom slightly bowed, "I wish to save a council member with potential to become epic!"

"Who?"

"Berlain."

"There's no need. He's revived once, his soul core is incomplete; he's done for. Even if he gets a chance at the Origin Force, he lacks the foundation to merge with it. He's no longer worthy of cultivation. Abandon him. For such a waste, there's no need to battle the Dragon King."

"Ha!" The Starshine Dragon King relaxed as he sensed familiar presences behind and the gaze from above, "Basalom, if you truly admire that little lich, you could use your Origin Force to repair his soul foundation and restart his path to epic. Such power is nearly omnipotent."

"Hmph!" Basalom snorted. Using his own Origin Force to help a favored lich was an unthinkable choice, even for a fool.

"Worthless thing!" Glancing hatefully at Berlain being beaten by sixteen ancient dragons, he cursed. Basalom was annoyed that this promising undead chose self-destruction when besieged by dragons. Had he been sealed, the Council would not have given up on him and would have attempted rescue.

But with the Council Head's decision to abandon him, Basalom saw no need to persist. He vanished from the sky, the space fractured by his appearance quickly healed.
