Dragon Hermit

Chapter 77: Evil Creature, Where Are You Going?

“F*ck!” Xia Yan cursed out loud. The sight of the wings on this guy’s back was too shocking. [He can fly? How can we fight him? No matter how strong the skeleton soldier is, it can’t fly.]

At this moment, Xia Yan realized that he must craft the Bone Horcrux as soon as possible. Bone Magic had a long firing range, and it would be able to shoot down this giant bat.

Necromancers obviously had many methods to deal with flying enemies, such as Underworld Summon, which was a strong spell that could restrict flight within its range, and if a lich cast this spell, then even a great dragon would get pulled down to the ground. But, it was a pity that this was high-end magic out of Xia Yan’s reach.

There were also the Weakening Spell and Aging Spell among Curse Spells that could greatly weaken the enemy and prevent them from flying. But, Curse Spells had a short-range and were only effective if cast at the right moment.

Currently, Xia Yan was able to cast the Weakening Spell, but he hadn’t yet crafted a Curse Horcrux, so casting it would consume a lot of power without the right instrument. Moreover, the vampire had already flown off the ground by dozens of meters, and a novice mage’s Weakening Spell didn’t have such a high firing range.

“God damn you! Human, I will suck you dry!” the vampire let out a sharp cry in the air.

“Mommy!” Cries echoed out from the houses at the sides of the road. The street girls peeking through the doors’ crevices were scared by the sight of this flying monster.

The vampire flapped its wings and flew down. He didn’t go after Xia Yan, but rather the girls. He rammed into a wooden door with his body and caught one of the street girls in the house and went back into the air again.

The vampire’s movements were very swift, and he had finished everything before Xia Yan could react and stop him. He could only look on helplessly as the poor girl struggled in the air, and the latter couldn’t even cry and shout as her mouth was covered.

The vampire lowered his head and bit on the girl’s neck. He sucked in large mouthfuls of blood, and it even slipped out of the corners of his mouth and sprinkled on the ground.

“Damn!” Xia Yan wanted to save the girl, but he had no means to deal with the enemy in the air. The terror written on the girl’s face quickly turned into an expression of extreme bliss and her body was even shuddering in pleasure. But, this was unfortunately her last burst of pleasure.

“What a nauseating taste!” After the vampire spent a while drinking the girl’s blood, he let go of her and dropped her down, but she quickly got caught by the skeleton soldier commanded by Xia Yan.

The skeleton soldier caught the girl in time, but she had fallen from an altitude of twenty meters on the skeleton soldier’s bony arms which didn’t have an ounce of meat on them to cushion the fall, and this wasn’t any different from falling upon two iron rods. A crisp sound of bones shattering echoed out and the girl’s body turned as soft as mush. She died instantly!

Xia Yan was startled. Even though the girl was doomed to die either through falling to her death or dying off the vampiric virus, this was still quite different than dying due to his commands.

“Hahahaha, lad, it’s you who killed her.” The vampire laughed complacently and exercised his body. He said with a smile, “My injuries have already recovered. Lad, you can’t kill me, and you are already on the brink of death. Hahaha!”

The vampire laughed heartily and flapped his wings. He wanted to fly away!

“Evil creature, where are you going?” At this moment, a light beam shot out of the street’s entrance and pierced the vampire’s heart. Soon after, the light beam turned around and flew back to where it came from and disappeared in a person’s hand.

The vampire looked in disbelief at the bloody hole in his chest. He wanted to cover up the wound with his hand, but his body had already lost its whole power and he couldn’t even raise his hand. He shut his eyes involuntarily and fell on the ground and didn’t budge ever again.

Xia Yan raised his head and got to see a person walking over from the street’s entrance, and upon looking at him up close, he realized that it was an old acquaintance.

He was clad in a t-shirt decorated with flower designs, beach shorts, and slippers. He also had a goat-like white beard, long hair that reached his shoulder and a ponytail. This was none other than the handsome old man, Desireless.

“Even Western Zombies are so arrogant, do they really think that none in Chengdu City can deal with them?” Desireless walked to the vampire’s side and observed him disdainfully, before taking a look at the dead girl. He shook his head and said, “Lad, you don’t have to blame yourself, it isn’t you who killed her.”

Xia Yan didn’t really need his consolation, as he had already gotten over his shock. He wasn’t one of a TV Series’ annoying protagonists, who was always ready to take the blame for everything.

“I know, if the skeleton soldier didn’t catch her, she would have fallen to her death, and even if she survived, she would be killed by the virus. But, she’s still an innocent bystander and she died in the hands of the skeleton soldier. I was only lamenting for a while,” Xia Yan said.

“Lad, didn’t expect that you are so open-minded,” Desireless chuckled and spoke.

“What does my open-mindedness have to do with you?” Xia Yan moved back two steps and said warily, “Old Daoist, you aren’t planning to assault me again, are you?”

“Why are you so sceptical, I’m not an unreasonable old man,” Desireless swung his arms and said.

“Didn’t you accuse me last time of using women as Cultivation Furnaces and practicing evil arts? What’s up, won’t you deliver justice?” Xia Yan didn’t believe him. The previous fight was still vivid in his mind. This old daoist had inexhaustible means and treasures, and he was still able to counter necromancy well. He gave him a real headache and he was quite wary of him.

“Hehe, a youngster shouldn’t be so vindictive,” the old daoist spreads his arms sheepishly and said, “I have already investigated last time’s affair and I have really misunderstood you. In any case, you didn’t suffer any injuries. So, don’t hold onto this matter.”

“Are you trying to trick me?” Xia Yan still didn’t believe him.

“Lad, who do you think am I? Would I trick a little teenage boy?” Desireless got quite anxious.

“Then please tell me who are you?” Xia Yan rolled his eyes and asked.

“Hahaha, you are trying to get info off me, aren’t you?” Desireless laughed and said, “This isn’t a suitable place for such a discussion, why don’t you come to Qingyang Palace someday? I’ll serve you some tea and we will have a good chat, fine?”

“Pah! I won’t ever go there,” Xia Yan shook his head without giving this any consideration. “You can’t deal with me now, but Qingyang Palace is your home field and it has many daoists. If I go there, I won’t be able to get away, will I?”

“You….” Desireless was left at a loss for words. He couldn’t help but to shake his head, “You’re right, and I have once considered doing so. But, everything that happened in the past was just a misunderstanding. So, let bygones be bygones. Why don’t we have a drink in a pub? You’ll be at ease there, won’t you?”

“Fine, let’s go over there right away,” Xia Yan nodded. He had many doubts and it was obvious that the old daiost was quite knowledgeable in which case he could question him and get info from him.

“I can’t go now, Western Zombies have come to Chengdu City and I must notify the Cleaners. Let’s put this aside until dealing with this issue.”

“Do the Cleaners deal with this, too?” Xia Yan asked curiously. He had wanted to question him about this last time.

“They obviously do so,” the old daoist cast a glance at the skeleton soldier and chuckled. “Lad, you should be careful. If you commit any evil deed, the Cleaners will set their eyes on you. Those fellas aren’t as open-minded as I.”

“What will you do about the girl?” Xia Yan pointed at the girl’s corpse on the ground and asked.
