Lovely Childhood I

I could never claim in my past life that I didn't have a fulfilling childhood. I had a pair of loving parents, if anything… it was me who made the wrong choices in life and they still stuck to me until the very end. I could never thank them enough… I could never think of anyone else as my parents.

And Reina Lux is included but you know… it is tough to not love someone who spoils you rotten and treats you like you're their treasure.

Ever since I was born I have been nothing but showered with gifts and spoiled to death, she works as the head manager of a medicine research department in Kyoto. She's busy and works a lot; sometimes she can't be around.

But she would always leave someone reliable to take care of me when she wasn't around.

When she was, we would enjoy ourselves. Her background is quite complex, so much so… that it makes me suspect.

Let's start by her name, Reina Lux... born to a Japanese mother and an American father, Reina was originally from the county of Orange in the United States, California. After she was scouted by a famous research company, she settled in Kyoto, Japan. She happened to have the surname Lux which is not a common American surname by any means but… she said it has to do with her ancestry.

I didn't believe her… but didn't inquire further.

'Mom, why did you choose Ray of all names?'.

'Because you're my little ray of light~'.

'...'

I didn't believe her with that either.

Throughout a series of 'coincidences' my name is Ray Lux in this life too. I have very few friends because I'm 'different'. I had free reign to mash up the kids who wanted to bully me and I did, always making sure to not go too far.

I got in trouble a few times but my mother always supported me. I have always asked her questions and she always had a perfect answer.

It's been nine years, soon it will be my tenth birthday and she took her holidays just for the sake of this. We live in a five-bedroom modern house that's too big for both of us but she says that once I'm old enough I can inherit it.

Everything has been perfect, so perfect it is scary... my peaceful life continues and I'm waiting patiently.

[Systems Requirements not yet met].

That notification keeps popping up in my head, I have no doubt it has something to do with Elysir, but I don't know what the requirements are either.

I have spent most of my days exposed to the sun as she would have liked and I'm hoping that will help. I'm currently undergoing my fourth year of elementary school... my mom can be very chill about some things, but she's strict when it comes to education.

I have had the best scores to keep her happy. It is not a difficult matter for me who has the mind of an adult.

I have come to know that Japan was not the peaceful place I had expected it to be. This is Kyoto but there is a lot of crime going down, gangs, mafias and so on... there is also a particular group that has also started bothering me presently.

The Ayakashi.

The supernatural world is well present in Japan and I have done my research on the subject because I know eventually I'll have to face them one way or another. So far my powers haven't been exposed... I haven't done a single massage in my life afraid of the repercussions.

After Elysir fused herself with me, my powers have... enhanced. As of now the only person who has gotten a proper taste at them is my mom.

She's very clingy... extremely so... even to the point that it is weird for a mother. But I can't find it in me to blame her as her attitude is not foreign to me.

All of my clients always became like that. The difference was: that I could 'will' my powers before.

Now, everyone who does so much as touching me can already feel my powers. And my mother has already become addicted... she has become addicted but she's also become aware of how dangerous it is, so she's extremely protective of me.

All it takes is to hug me for an hour or two and everything that's making her feel ill, stressed or anxious will be gone.

In hindsight, I'm a walking drug... and that's scary.

"Tadaima!"

"Okaeri".

"Ray-chan!~"

There she is, coming back from a meeting. I opened the door for her and she nearly jumped on me, carrying me in her arms, sniffing me.

She was dressing in her regular office attire, a navy skirt, white shirt, white stockings and navy heels. Her body was a bit sweaty, she'd usually take the train despite having a car.

I allowed her to take her dose of me, it must have been a particularly stressful day. She ruffled her cheeks against mine and kissed my forehead a few times before putting me down.

"Mommy is recharged~".

I sighed and took her hand, leading her in. She can be too cute for her good sometimes.

"Just wait a minute, I'll prepare something... here watch some TV in the meantime. Did Karen-chan take good care of you today?"

"It was the same".

"You didn't let her touch you directly, right?"

"I didn't..."

"Good~"

"You always ask me this".

"It is important... there are many bad girls out there, I don't want one of them to put their obsessed eyes on my son".

'Like you...?'

I looked at her hum and cook while I watched the TV from the table, stealing a few glances here and there as expected... she's very sexy. I try to keep my thoughts in check due to the respect I have for her but that is the undeniable truth. I'm wondering why she still hasn't found a man.

Although it would be disheartening for me to have a sudden presence here, I think she deserves to be happy too.

I remember I asked her this question once and her answer left me without wanting to ask again.

'If you want I can find you a daddy, Ray... I'll make sure he spends most of his time working abroad so he just has to send us money while I take care of you all day. It will be just the two of us~ wouldn't that be wonderful? Actually... I should do that!~'.

I had to spend a good amount of time hugging her to convince her against ruining some unknown man's life like that. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

One of the most outrageous answers I got from her was when I asked her where my biological father was: She answered that she was a virgin and that I didn't have a father.

'Mom I don't think it works like that...'

She would never give me a conclusive answer. I said fair enough… but I didn't believe it.
