Fallen Fate Online

Chapter 98 The Big Day

Everyone loved holidays because they were days during which people could relax, eat good food, talk to friends, and not worry about anything, it was a day off only so much better!

However, if someone was resting, then someone had to work, especially if the holiday was special and a lot of different things had to be prepared for it.

All holidays were always organized by the Noble Families, sometimes together with merchants who could help a lot in the process, but they always had time, at least for a few days.

"Damn... It's sunset in a few hours, and we can barely make it..." Alden muttered with an exhausted look, staring at the sun.

He stood in the main square, while dozens of people with rushing faces passed in front of him. They had many guests and things to do, but very little time.

"Hmmm... We need to think of something right away..." Alden rubbed his chin thoughtfully, "Wait... I have one option... Surely the residents' actions must have attracted them, right? But, how do I make sure everyone knows about it?"

Alden was puzzled, he had a great plan, but he didn't know how to put it into action until a blue flame lit up in his eyes.

"What...? What is it...?" Alden was surprised, then a sly smirk appeared on his face, "Hah, that's just what I needed. Thanks to Zayne, Fate helps all of us, doesn't it? Father, has done something like this before, so I should be able to do it too."

Alden's ring glowed as he quickly wrote something on a piece of paper. Some of his subordinates looked at him puzzled, but Alden wasn't going to stop.

"Fine, that should be enough." Alden smirked, and the piece of paper flashed brightly with a blue light.

The next moment, some people in the city stopped, they were no more than 10% of the total crowd, but they all had one thing in common, they were Travelers or rather, Players.

"What is this...?" Someone muttered, looking at the message in front of them.

[You got the Mass Quest!]

[Prepare for the feast!

Help the Redfall Family, prepare for the feast before the sun goes completely off into the sunset! Head to Alden Redfall, to the main square, for more information and rewards after completing the task!]

"Wait... Is this really for everyone?" The player muttered as he looked at his buddy.

"Yeah... Looks like it, but what exactly is going on? I only came to this town because I saw the news that hundreds of NPCs were headed here!" The guy was puzzled.

"Well, we can find out in the process! Let's not waste any time! It'll be on the news soon! We must hurry!"

"Agreed!" The guy nodded.

Just one minute was enough time for Alden to see streams of Players heading toward him, who seemed ready to fight for the best reward.

'Hehehe, fine, the glint of greed in your eyes is just what I need. I have enough resources, but I have some problems with manpower... but we'll fix that quickly, won't we?' Alden muttered inwardly, staring at them arrogantly.

To the Players, Alden may have been a mere NPC, but now they were his subordinates who were willing to do whatever he ordered for a fee that meant nothing to Alden.

As Alden expected, the Players had speeded things up considerably, he and his assistants were the organizers, while the Travelers were just brute force.

"Damn... I'm getting a little tired..." The guy with the big bow behind his back muttered, wiping the sweat from his forehead, "We've been dragging these chairs for thirty minutes!"

"Stop whining!" The girl elbowed him in the side, "If you want to accomplish something in this game, we have to take every quest we have! Especially from the heir to the first Noble Family in town!"

"Yeah...I understand that, but do you really think that's what Zayne Fellen did...?" The guy asked, hoping to figure out how to reach the same level.

"Pfff, of course! I'm sure he did the most quests to become that strong! Don't forget, this is a game, the more quests you do from NPCs the more rewards you get! It's simple!" The girl said seriously, putting another wooden chair on the ground.

Usually, the main square was full of people, and it was the same now, but ordinary citizens were not allowed inside, and the roads were blocked off as the city center prepared for the feast.

The players, along with the subordinates of the Redfall Family, were setting up tables, drinks, and food, along with decorations, lighting, and a podium from which important people were to speak. Everything was going according to how it was normally done, but only in a big hurry.

"Hah, that's different! This way we're sure to make it in time! I thought I'd have to move everything to the next day, but that would take a big hit on our reputation." Alden grinned contentedly, looking up at the sun that was just moving toward sunset.

"Excuse me..." A girl in leather armor and a short staff on her belt approached Alden. Unlike most mages, she wore no hat, so nothing hid her azure hair.

"Hmm? Have you decided to help too? Don't be so shy, I have a job for you." Alden turned to her, about to give an instruction.

"No, that's not why I'm here, you're Alden, right? Alden Redfall..." The girl asked uncertainly.

Alden nodded, "We certainly haven't met before, Traveler... What do you want?" Alden tilted his head curiously.

"Could you tell me where Zayne Fellen is now...? He was telling me about you and the mission..." The girl muttered.

Whooooooooooosh.

Alden's hand was abruptly on the girl's neck, pressing his thumb to her throat. His gaze became as sharp as blades as he whispered, "Out of Travelers, no one was supposed to know about this, so either you explain it to me now, or I'll make sure you can't get to the feast."

"Wait!" The girl exclaimed.

"What's your name, for a start?" Alden tightened his grip.

"..."

...

With less than ten minutes to sunset, almost everything was ready for the feast, from the food to the decorations as well as the guards who were to keep an eye on the particularly active guests.

All that was left was the finishing touches, which included the most important people.

Alden stood to the side with an exhausted look, waiting for someone, next to him was a girl with azure hair.

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

Several carriages stopped right beside him, and from one of them a young man in a dark blue coat, the kind only members of the Lareso Family would normally wear.

Zayne looked at the main square of the city, and a slight smile appeared on his face from the sight. Lanterns illuminated the whole area and a delicious aroma wafted from the food, then he turned to Alden.

"Hey, you're almost too late. I had to use all my powers and more to get there on time, it wouldn't have been good if the main hero hadn't shown up at the right hour." Alden smirked, standing against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Hah, sorry, we all had a lot to talk about." Zayne nodded slightly, and his eyes went wide at the look of the girl that stood next to Alden, "Rubia... Is it you...?"
