Chapter 20: Territory Construction

Chapter 20: Territory Construction

Under Thor's command, the slaves began their work swiftly.

Thor gathered the knights. With over four hundred members, the knights represented a significant labor force that Thor would not overlook.

While other nobles might see knights merely as a military force, Thor saw them as a valuable resource for construction. The speed at which four hundred knights could work would surpass what even thousands of slaves could achieve.

Thor had a plan for how to utilize them.

As the knights assembled, they were astonished by Thor's announcement. Even Steve, his trusted right-hand man, could hardly believe his ears.

"Lord, are you serious?" Steve stammered in disbelief. "You’re offering to teach us the Fierce Eagle Breathing Method and giving other knights the opportunity to train?"

In this world, knights wield extraordinary power, and the Breathing Methods are keys to unlocking this power. While the Fierce Eagle Breathing Method may not be as prestigious as the Majestic Eagle Breathing Method, it was still an elite technique that could greatly increase one's chances of becoming a powerful Earth Knight.

Steve's lips felt dry at the thought.

"Of course, it’s true," Thor said calmly. "Steve, I have soared, and I want you to have a future as vast as mine. Knights, Grand Knights, and beyond—I hope you all become beings who traverse the land and soar through the skies."

Thor's voice was warm and serious. He was not joking.

For most, such a high-level Breathing Method would be a treasure to be guarded. But for Thor, it was just another resource.

He planned to create a merit system: those who earned enough merit could learn the Fierce Eagle Breathing Method, provided they kept it confidential.

Steve and Ryan were the first chosen. Rayn had just become a official knight the day before, and Thor saw potential in him.

Upon hearing Thor's words, Steve could finally believe it was not a dream.

"Yes, my lord!" Steve said, kneeling. "I swear to follow you to the death. Where your sword points, I will follow. By the Goddess of Life, I pledge my loyalty."

Thor accepted the pledge without objection.

The news quickly spread through the knights. Even though initially, only Steve and Ryan were promised the Fierce Eagle Breathing Method, the opportunity extended to official knights and those who became knights as long as they made sufficient merit.

The announcement was like a bombshell, sending waves of excitement and fervor through the entire knightly order.

Even as Thor issued a series of orders for territory construction, there were no complaints. The knights eagerly joined the construction efforts.

With the addition of four hundred knights, especially the thirty-six official knights, construction progressed rapidly. Within just three days, the camp began to take shape, with wooden houses rising and the area enclosed by the slaves.

At the center stood the foundation of a castle. If construction continued at this pace, the castle would be completed in less than half a month, along with the surrounding buildings.

This was the result of having knights contribute to the work. Otherwise, relying solely on the slaves, it might have taken months or even half a year to reach this stage.

Other pioneers often spent the first year or even the second without significant harvests, relying heavily on supplies from Loren City, keeping prices high.

However, Thor had prepared meticulously before leaving Dresrosa Castle. He had studied extensively and organized his memories, ensuring that he would have a harvest this year.

The plan was to execute it step by step according to his preparations.

As night fell and another day passed, Thor reviewed a simple map on a parchment, outlining his plans for the territory's development.

The map featured a large castle at the center and a grid layout for the slaves and planting areas—exactly five hundred plots.

“It’s time to act,” Thor murmured, his eyes gleaming with determination.

“Anna!”

“Oh, yes, my lord?”

Anna hurried over, her habit of addressing him as “master” now becoming more natural.

“Prepare my bath,” Thor instructed calmly.

“Yes, of course, my lord!” Anna replied, lowering her head.
