“Are you asleep?”

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze rested on the person in his arms, his voice low and warm spilling from his thin lips.

“Mo Xiuchen, what time is it? Am I not supposed to be sleeping? Are you and Ranran already at the airport?”

On the other end of the phone, Wen Jin’s voice carried a hint of annoyance. It was two in the morning. He’d just fallen asleep when his sleep was interrupted by Xiuchen’s phone call.

“Not yet, we’re on our way to the airport, just wanted to inform you.”

“Didn’t you already tell me last night?”

Wen Jin’s tone was even worse. He suspected that Mo Xiuchen, who was obviously not sleeping, also didn’t want anyone else to sleep and was thus calling him in the middle of the night to disturb him.

“A minute ago, Lu Zhiyan called me, saying they found traces of Xiao Wenqing and Wu Tianyi. They might be caught before dawn.”

“They initially escaped, but now we have new leads. If you want to go back to sleep, I won’t disturb you anymore. You can continue sleeping.”

Later, he received a call from Lu Zhiyan saying that Xiao Wenqing and Wu Tianyi had escaped, which made him even more sleepless. He was worried that by the next morning, rumours about Ranran would fill the newsstands.

Mo Xiuchen said he would take Ranran abroad for a while. Even if Xiao Wenqing and Wu Tianyi exposed Ranran’s background, they couldn’t let her know.

And once he left, the clean-up would be left to them.

Though this solution might only be temporary, once they returned from their trip, Ranran would inevitably find out the truth. But Xiuchen was willing to try everything to delay her from knowing even if it was just for one more day.

No woman hopes not to be healthy or a complete woman, let alone Wen Ran, who deeply desires to have a child. If she knew she was the infertile one, and not Mo Xiuchen, they could not imagine if she could withstand such a blow.

Mo’s mansion

Mo Zixuan was too excited to sleep. It was already two in the morning, and he couldn’t fall asleep.

He tossed and turned in his bed. The idea that he would soon be the CEO, even if Mo Xiuchen was capable, eventually he would have to hand the company over to him. This thought filled him with pride.

If Wen Ran’s background were to be exposed and she found out she couldn’t have children, the old man was bound to feel disappointed knowing that Xiuchen had been lying to him all along. With that, his seat as CEO would be stickier than superglue, and no one would be able to pull him down.

And then there was Wen Ran. If she left Mo Xiuchen, he would have another chance to bring her back to his side.

He couldn’t marry a woman who couldn’t give birth, but keeping such a lover would indeed be a delightful thing.

Thinking about it, Wen Ranqing’s beautiful smile appeared before his eyes. The tender look in her eyes when she looked at Mo Xiuchen – if only one day he could earn that for himself, he would make sure she was also tender to him.

He got off the bed, walked to the window, and looked outside through the glass, where it was pitch-dark.

In the distance, the light from a lighthouse fanned out in different directions. It was strikingly beautiful in the quiet early morning. He watched for a long time before abruptly turning around, changing his clothes, taking his car keys and driving out of the villa.

When Wen Ran woke up, she found herself not in bed but on an airplane 30,000 feet high in the sky. Before she opened her eyes, she heard the pleasant voice of a stewardess asking the passengers what they needed.

She frowned.

When she opened her eyes, an attractive face with a fascinating smile appeared before her. Only then did she realize that she’d been sleeping in his arms.

“Ranran, you’re finally awake. Look, guess where we are.”

The man’s voice was warm and pleasant. As he spoke, his warm breath sprayed onto her face. Surveying the people around them, her fair cheeks turned a shade of red.

“We’re on a plane? Where are we going?”

Wen Ran shifted in place, Mo Xiuchen let her sit up without letting go of his hold on her waist. Raising his hand to signal the stewardess, he asked Ranran before she could answer, “Ranran, you’ve been asleep for so long that you missed a meal. We still have four hours before we arrive. What do you want to eat now?”

“What time is it now?”

Wen Ran asked in surprise.

“Eat something anyway. Once we land, I’ll take you to eat something delicious.”

Mo Xiuchen had a playful smile on his face, he didn’t know the current situation in G City.

But taking Ranran on a trip was a joyful thing. If possible, he hoped to find a city where they could live peacefully for a while until all matters were settled before returning.

“I’m not hungry, I’ll just have a drink.”

“Alright!” Mo Xiuchen smiled gently, gave a command to the awaiting stewardess, who responded with, ‘Okay sir, please wait a moment’ before leaving.

“When did we board the plane?”

Wen Ran’s gaze swept over Mo Xiuchen’s half-drunk coffee, she looked at him, and without waiting for him to answer, asked again, “Did you not sleep at all last night?”

“I’m not tired. I’ll sleep properly once we land. Then, I’ll take you sightseeing.”

Mo Xiuchen’s face was graced with a gentle smile. He did sleep a little after boarding the plane, holding Wen Ran for a short while. But he was too worried about her and woke up quickly.

He’d been watching her ever since, he didn’t feel sleepy.

“Where are we going?”

Wen Ran had a hint of surprise in her eyes. He suddenly took her on a trip without informing her, catching a flight in the middle of the night. This surprise was too sudden.

“We are going to a beautiful place. Ranran, we’re going to make up for our missed honeymoon. Once you’re satisfied, we’ll return home.”

“Why did you suddenly think of making up for our honeymoon? We’ve just started work, us leaving like this… what about the company? The board of directors, they’ll surely complain.”

Wen Ran had a concerned frown as she spoke. However, Mo Xiuchen just smiled gently and brushed it off casually, “Didn’t I say before that I would let Zixuan take care of the company? Now, he’s in charge of everything.”
