Forbidden Zone of the Human Race

Chapter 165: Learning Is Good

On the way home, Xiang Ning thanked the Federation that the road was a straight line without too many turns. If there was a sharp turn, he would have flown past it. The only reason the road was designed this straight was to allow backup to arrive at the fortress with the fastest speed available.

In thirty-seven minutes, he had arrived in front of his house. It was now 6:08 pm and the sky had darkened, while his house was illuminated by the lights.

He swallowed his saliva and didn’t even bother tidying himself up before opening the front door like a burglar.

His hope was dashed when he saw the figures inside the house. In the living room, Xiang Xiaoyu was pouring tea for the two people sitting on the sofa. Both Dong Qianyi and Lei Zhongyuan were laughing and smiling. It seemed like they were playing and talking with their granddaughter.

Xiang Xiaoyu was surprisingly good at conversations and social interactions! He wanted to praise her.

Xiang Ning coughed once before entering the house.

As for the elders, they just looked at him, smiling like sadistic demons. If he were to describe their smiles as warm and kind while they were talking to his sister, then now they were smiling as if they wanted to whack a captured criminal.

He felt slightly embarrassed.

But his sister didn’t realize what was happening, so she just happily came and embraced him. She laughed when she saw his disheveled hair. Her laughter was like silver bells.

“Why’s your hair like a porcupine? Hahaha!” She couldn’t stop laughing.

Xiang Ning tried patting down his hair as he assured her he was fine, then turned toward the two elders. “Good evening master and Instructor Lei.”

“Hmm, we’re fine. How about you? I’m glad that you went out to study even during the holidays. Good, good,” Dong Qianyi said with a sinister laugh.

“Huhu, if only the others were as hardworking as you.” Lei Zhongyuan agreed while maintaining his evil smile.

Xiang Ning burst out in goosebumps; he had a bad feeling. No, he had to run away. He couldn’t be caught today. “Haha, they’re very hard working too! That said, Instructor Lei, master, are you hungry? We can all go out and have dinner.” Xiang Ning held his sister’s hands, praying that they picked up his hints.

Both of them looked at each other, then back at Xiang Xiaoyu.

“No need, you can go and eat first. We aren’t hungry yet. Come back to the lab later, I’ll personally teach you since you’re such a good student.” Dong Qianyi pushed his glasses up, reflecting a sinister light.

Xiang Ning nodded. It seemed like he was fated to get caught today.

All four of them walked out before Lei Zhongyuan patted him on the shoulder. “Good, don’t forget to come today. I don’t think I’ve taught you anything useful yet.”

Xiang Ning was speechless. He tried to say something, but both of them were already walking back. Let’s just eat something good to balance out my suffering later. He took a deep breath. He had eighty thousand Fury Points, so he wasn’t afraid.

Xiang Ning smiled at his sister as he directed her to Windbreaker. “Come, let me show you something good.”

Xiang Xiaoyu’s eyes twinkled and she nodded. “Alright.”

Twenty seconds later, Xiang Xiaoyu admired Windbreaker. She loved it. “Big brother! We have a motorbike now!” She was happy. She always saw how the parents always sent her friends to school by car and had always wanted to feel what it was like.”

“Of course! let's go, I’ll take you to eat somewhere good.” Xiang Ning passed a helmet to her that was custom-made for her. The helmet was light, but provided ample protection. He always gave her the best.

His Windbreaker started with a low hum and Xiang Xiaoyu hugged her brother’s waist. While it wasn’t a car, it was still so much more different than the ones she saw on the street. She thought that it looked cool and didn’t even think about asking the price.

I wonder what kind of expression she would make if she knew this Windbreaker was as expensive as at least ten cars?

Xiang Xiaoyu was excited throughout the journey. She had always wanted to sit in a vehicle with her brother, but could only dream about it in the past. Now that she was actually sitting in one, she felt that there were truly changes in her life. They had always eaten the same few things in the past. There wasn’t anything wrong with it, but she always wanted to try something delicious and have a happy dinner with her brother. But now her wish was being fulfilled, so she felt that she was the happiest person in the world.

It wasn’t a big wish, but it was hers.

“Big brother, does this mean we can eat something good every day?”

“Yep, you can eat anything you like.” Xiang Ning smiled.

“But.…” She was worried about their finances, but then she remembered how her brother reassured her. “Ok, I understand!” She buried her face in his back. She couldn’t remember how long it had been since she’d acted like this.

East Street was Marsh City’s famous gourmet street. Many martial artists would go there after killing beasts in the wilderness. Xiang Ning was headed for the famous roast house.

Their roast goose rice wasn’t merely a single dish, but one of many. The restaurant would use the entire goose for multiple dishes. They also used the infamous Snow White Goose, which still had a small portion of the blood of ferocious beasts. Every single body part had a signature taste, and one of them made a total of eight dishes. It wasn’t something that Xiang Ning and Xiaoyu could finish together.

Xiang Ning invited Fang Rou over to come and have dinner with them. Fang Rou had been getting close with his sister and had even taken her out to play today. He felt grateful to her.

The waitress brought them into an elegantly decorated private room. It didn’t have a single piece of machinery that reminded them of the present.

Xiang Ning was very satisfied with it.

Doge & Chacha's Thoughts

He do be a good brother
