Chapter 189: Frontline War Reporter

After activating his armor, Xiang Ning quickly killed the two Beast Soldier-level Dark Aurumsaurs, then intervened in Li Yunfei’s fight with ten flying knives.

Li Yunfei’s solo fight against a tier four, nine-star Kaiser Aurumsaur was an exhausting one, with every move made on the line of life and death. But he clung to life; all he had to do was wait for help to arrive and this Aurumsaur would be in his soup tonight.

However, the Kaiser Aurumsaur was far more intelligent than expected. After more than ten clashes between them, the Kaiser Aurumsaur seemed able to predict the direction that Li Yunfei would dodge and thrust its sharp tail toward him.

It was at that last critical moment that three flying knives slashed at the tail. The tail wasn’t sliced off but the knives managed to cut three centimeters deep into the flesh, which was enough to cause the Kaiser Aurumsaur much pain.

Fury Points +999

As Xiang Ning watched his Fury Points climb, he smiled under his armor.

Li Yunfei wondered to himself, Why does this man look so familiar? When he saw the small chink on the blade of one of the flying knives, his eyes widened as he looked at Xiang Ning. “You!?”

Xiang Ning’s chest tightened. How did he recognize me under all this armor? That’s impossible! This must be a trick on his end, there’s no way I’ll ever admit to anything. He blurted, “No, no, you’ve got the wrong person.”

“No, no, no! I recognize your knife. You’re the person from three months ago, right?” Li Yunfei was emotional because he had spent a long time looking for the mysterious man that day, but somehow he still couldn’t find him. He was happy to see the mysterious man again.

“I’m really not, brother! I don’t know who that is, and this isn’t the time to talk—that giant lizard is coming at us!” Xiang Ning was exasperated; it looked like Li Yunfei recognized him as the guy he had disguised himself as three months before.

“Alright!” Li Yunfei had calmed down. With such a powerful spiritual cultivator by his side, they could at least hold the Aurumsaur off for a while, or maybe even kill it!

As expected, with Xiang Ning and his flying knives, it didn’t matter how the beast tried to attack or defend itself. Xiang Ning was always one step ahead of it, successfully inflicting damage.

The weight lifted off Li Yunfei’s chest. He felt like they could successfully exhaust the Kaiser Aurumsaur. That was the nature of war. Anything could change in the blink of an eye.

Not far away was a bespectacled war reporter in camouflage. With a camera in hand, he was reporting the situation live, “Dear audience, I’m Wang Han, coming to you live from the front lines. Today we’re reporting from the battle at Fortress Three near Tranquil City, and according to reports this latest stampede consists of a total of eight thousand beasts with the main attacking force made up of Dark Aurumsaurs, as you can see here!”

The war reporter was part of a new team under the Battle Network media department, formed just to report on this war. Wang Han had already stayed at various fortresses for several months, and these days his live reports had attracted attention from the whole of China. When he was reporting on the Dark Aurumsaurs, more than thirty million people were already watching. The numbers were as impressive as livestreams done by celebrities. That was because Wang Han was the only guy who was brave enough to report within such close proximity to the beasts! He was constantly at risk of severe injuries, or even death.

As he explained the details of the Dark Aurumsaurs, the editors posted more information on the livestream so the audience could understand just how terrifying the beasts were.

“Damn, is this lizard even real? It looks different from what they described!”

“This one’s head is too big. It’s similar to what they explained, but maybe it’s a different species?”

Wang Han was wearing a pair of glasses that allowed him to watch the live chat. “Hehe, I was observing from afar when this one attracted my attention. This is actually the leader of this Aurumsaur group, a tier four, nine-star Beast General. Looking at it, I think it’s almost a tier five beast.”

“Wow, that’s powerful!”

“It’s the leader of this group. In reality, it should already have the strength of a tier five beast. If it truly breaks through to tier five, it could unleash destruction equivalent to a tier six beast!” the reporter continued.

Most of his livestream audience had been following him for months and had a decent understanding of the people participating in the battle. There were also many experts among them.

“Based on the video, that guy with the battleaxe should be at least tier four, six-star. As for the guy in battle armor controlling the flying knives, based on his ability to inflict damage on the beast and predict the beast’s next move, he’s at least a tier four spiritual cultivator. But we can’t be sure of his true level.”

......

While the audience discussed in the chat, the Kaiser Aurumsaur knew that it wouldn’t be able to kill the two humans soon and started looking for new targets. As long as it could consume more human blood, it would be able to break through to tier five. Then the two in front of it would be nothing but tiny ants it could crush in a second!

Xiang Ning’s brows were furrowed. He grew suspicious of the look in the Kaiser Aurumsaur's eyes. When he turned and saw what it was looking at, he noticed a man shooting with a camera and instantly frowned. This is bad!

He suddenly yelled, “Run!!”

His shout acted like an air gun at the starting line. The Kaiser Aurumsaur sprinted at Wang Han.

“What the hell? Reporter Wang, RUN!”

“Fuck! It’s targeting you!”

The livestream exploded as a million more people entered to watch. Everyone felt chills down their spine, even though they were a screen away. The look in the Kaiser Aurumsaur’s eyes inspired pure terror, as if it was Death himself. It was icy, it was terrifying!

Li Yunfei immediately snapped to his senses, cussing it out as he charged at it.

Xiang Ning charged using his Shadowmist Ghost Step, his flying knives still flying, now aimed at its eyes in an attempt to slow it down. However, the Kaiser Aurumsaur furiously shook its head, managing to avoid any critical injuries. Seeing as it was closing in on the man, Xiang Ning clenched his teeth and charged.

Wang Han himself was paralyzed with fear, his face as pale as a sheet. He was like a mouse in the face of a cobra, in too much shock to move. Am I going to die here? This is terrifying! Someone save me, I’m scared, someone please come save me! He was internally screaming, but not a single muscle moved.

“No, Reporter Wang is going to die!”

“Rest in peace, my brother.”

“Thank you for your livestreams!”

Hopelessness seeped through the livestream, and some of the viewers even logged off. They didn’t want to see the bloody scene that would surely ensue. But in the next second, they heard a shout.

“CHARGING TOSS!”
