Chapter 205: Seven Deadly Sins

“How is he?” Li Yunfei asked the medic who exited the medical vehicle.

“He’s not doing very well. We have limited resources and cannot afford to stop our journey either. He’s already on his last breath.” The medic hung his head in exhaustion.

Li Yunfei was sullen. He pulled the door open and entered the medical vehicle. Looking at the soldier on the bed, he gently asked, “My brother, can you still speak?”

The soldier lying on the bed was extremely pale, his lips cracked and dry. He had already withered away and was a lamp on its last drop of oil. He slowly opened his eyes, which were filled with infinite rage. “D-dead... they’re all dead... and I will be meeting them soon.” His voice was hoarse, bringing with it deep grief.

“What happened?” asked Li Yunfei.

“We don’t know either. One week ago, we discovered the Seven Deadly Sins. There were about ten people. We investigated and it led to a fight. Cough cough cough!”

“What? Seven Deadly Sins? Why’re they here? Then what happened?” Li Yunfei’s expression darkened when he heard the name.

“The outpost was suddenly attacked by beasts. With the soldiers stationed here, we shouldn’t have had a problem holding them off for a day after sending out a distress signal, but for some reason the signal wouldn’t send....”

“Then?”

The soldier suddenly reached out and grabbed Li Yunfei’s shoulder, gripping his shirt tight. “It’s the Seven Deadly Sins! They ambushed us and we couldn’t hold them off! It’s them! They were the reason our team leader died, they were the reason my brothers died! I... I don’t want to die, I need revenge!”

Li Yunfei looked at the soldier on his death bed. Slowly, his voice grew weaker and the hands gripping his shirt fell. The soldier was dead.

Li Yunfei closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then walked out of the vehicle.

“How’s everything?” asked Fang Rou, walking over.

“Everyone, stay on guard. We found signs of activity by the Seven Deadly Sins. Inform the fortress immediately!” Li Yunfei issued a command, then turned to Fang Rou. “The outpost fell because the Seven Deadly Sins have been causing trouble here. It’s very likely that they’re related to the berserk beasts too!”

“Seven Deadly Sins?” Fang Rou frowned. She had heard of them and knew they were a cult, but that was it. She didn’t have the clearance to know more. It looked like the Seven Deadly Sins weren’t simple.

“Yes, but you might not know about it. The Seven Deadly Sins is a cult organization with seven high-level masters. We don’t know what their objectives are, only that they’re hostile. They were founded fifty-two years ago. You really don’t know how psychotic they are....” Li Yunfei took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. He took a long drag, then continued, “You should know the major political change that happened forty years ago, right? That was because of them. They assassinated the President of the Federation.”

Fang Rou drew in a sharp breath. There were records of the assassination in history, but they never went into detail, only stating that there was a conflict with another party. “What’s their goal?”

“No idea. But there are many insane people in this world. Sometimes, they can’t accept certain things in the world and decide to make other people feel what they’re feeling. Heh, they’re a bunch of very crazy people.” Li Yunfei smoked the remainder of his cigarette, then tossed it to the ground and stepped on it. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out that they’re the culprits behind the stampede!” He eyed Fang Rou for a few moments, then sighed.

“Rest and regroup for an hour, then we’ll leave!”

......

On a highway a hundred kilometers away from the outpost, Xiang Ning stopped his motorbike by the road and turned on its camouflage mode. He had no choice; his luck had been rotten so far and he had encountered a huge group of beasts not long after he left. Out of exasperation, he climbed up a large tree and activated Disguise. Out of convenience, he kept his metal tube in his ring after leaving the fortress, because it was heavy and inconvenient.

Looking at the speed these beasts moved, he would need to wait at least twenty minutes—he was trapped there for the moment. It was always ill-advised to get injured in the wilderness. This time, he spent almost half of his Fury Points in the raffle for healing pills.

It did decently well, giving him thirty-nine pills, but he rubbed his chin when he looked at the numbers. Something felt off and the non-round number was making him uncomfortable. “Fine, I’ve spent so much already, a few hundred more wouldn’t make a difference.”

He thought about how uneventful this raffle had been, just giving him little healing pills, when the raffle pool vigorously shook and shot out a ray of golden light.

The bored Xiang Ning widened his eyes. What the hell? He had never seen special effects as impressive as this since the beginning, what was this? He used to have to beg his ancestors in order to win something significant, but now that he was only entering the pool for more pills, he seemed to have won a grand prize! It was sad the way he used to pray so hard.

Congratulations! You have won a special object: Sovereign’s Throne.

Sovereign’s Throne: For the rightful king. He shall remain unchallenged!

The golden light faded and a magnificent throne appeared. Two gigantic swords were crossed on its back, and somehow, Xiang Ning learned their names: Order and Massacre.

This was his first time winning a special object from the raffle. It looked intimidating, but the description made no sense at all. It probably meant that the user could invoke fear in others, or maybe increase their persuasion skills. It was similar to how ancient emperors had an air of majesty to them, where peasants would kneel the moment they met them.

“Well, that sounds very cool and intimidating but I don’t know if it’ll be useful. I’ve got to try it out when I get the chance.” Xiang Ning had completely forgotten about winning another pill to make a round number.

Then the bushes and trees behind him rustled. Caught by surprise, he froze, hidden in the tree. His Disguise skill had been tried and tested, he knew regular people would not be able to discover him.

Indeed, a row of three people were approaching from behind, all in black hooded cloaks. They definitely did not look like good people at all. Xiang Ning remained sprawled on the tree without moving a muscle.

“Our plan worked. Miss Fang has successfully been lured out. Hehehe, let’s see how Tranquil City stops us this time!”
