Chapter 41: So What If I Looked At You?

Fatty Wang was confident in Xiang Ning ever since he watched as he won against a tier three martial artist in the Thunder Dojo, even though Fang Hao was using only 20% of his strength. He thought Zhao Huatai wasn’t weak, but to compare him to a tier three martial artist? Preposterous!

Soon, both of them walked into their class and the students immediately turned quiet. Everyone knew about what happened yesterday. Zhao Huatai was a famous individual who had a very high chance of becoming a tier seven martial sect master while Xiang Ning was the legendary part-time student. Why did everyone call him the legendary part-time student? That was because his performance when he enrolled was such a contrast to his identity as a part-time student.

Xiang Ning hadn't even sat down when Su Muhan had called him over.

In the office, Su Muhan worriedly asked, “Xiang Ning, I heard you’ll be dueling Zhao Huatai. Is that true?”

“Yes.” Xiang Ning didn’t hide the truth.

“Can you tell me why?” Su Muhan was concerned.

After some thought, Xiang Ning told her everything about the incident yesterday.

Su Muhan’s face slightly changed as she heard Xiang Ning’s story. At the same time, the teacher for Class 2, Zhang Lian, walked into the office and smiled when she saw both Xiang Ning and Su Muhan.

“Ms. Su, looks like you’ve got a very active student here,” mused Zhang Lian. No one else was in the office, though she didn’t ask Xiang Ning to leave, either.

“Ms. Zhang, I’ve already understood the situation. The problem was with your student, not mine.”

“What? He beat up students at the start of the semester! It hasn’t even been two weeks since then, and now he’s here again for bullying a lower secondary junior. Why do you think he isn’t at fault?”

“Heh, to think this is the world now,” Su Muhan chuckled.

Zhang Lian almost popped a vein when Liu Ouhai, the discipline teacher, walked in and saw the situation. His voice boomed across the room, “Ms. Zhang, watch your mouth. What attitude was that?”

“Uh… Yes, Mr. Liu.” Zhang Lian nodded.

Liu Ouhai apprehensively looked at Xiang Ning. Looks like the kid had been hiding his strength all this time. Now, even the higher-ups had started to take notice of him. Initially, he had thought that Xiang Ning was just being a bit heavy-handed during the incident at the cafeteria because he was a part-time student who did heavy physical work. But never could anyone have expected that during the physical exam he would be revealed as a tier one, six-star martial artist. There weren’t even a hundred martial artists among the new students, and only forty of them were four stars or above, and the highest was a seven-star martial artist.

When Xiang Ning graduated from lower secondary, his record clearly stated that he was at Physical Tempering stage four, and the break had only been three months. Even if he were to burn through a ton of cultivation resources, he should only have been able to reach tier one, one-star, at best! But to become a tier one, six-star martial artist? That wasn’t something that could even be done by the rich and influential families. That meant that Xiang Ning was from a billionaire family, or maybe he was a descendant of a very powerful martial artist. But the records stated that he was an orphan without any family background, so he was very scary indeed.

“I’ve already taken note of the incident, even the higher-ups have taken note of it. The students will settle this among themselves, but take care not to cause any critical injuries,” Liu Ouhai instructed. He was here to pass on the message instead of being a mediator.

“Since that’s the case, let’s meet at the martial arena.” Zhang Lian left, presumably to find Zhao Huatai.

Once Zhang Lian had left, Liu Ouhai chuckled and warned Xiang Ning once again, “Xiang Ning, remember what I said. Don’t cause any serious injury, and be courteous.”

Liu Ouhai’s change in character threw Su Muhan and Xiang Ning off. Was this his own intention, or was it the intention of the higher-ups of the school? They couldn’t believe the higher-ups were so confident that Xiang Ning would win.

Liu Ouhai left after speaking to Su Muhan for a bit, leaving the two of them alone in the office.

“Ms. Su, if there’s nothing else I’d like to return to the classroom,” Xiang Ning said.

Su Muhan nodded and agreed.

When Xiang Ning returned, the classroom was already in chaos.

“What a badass. I can’t believe he challenged someone just at the start of the semester. I asked a senior and he said that the martial arena is where students settle their conflicts, sometimes to the point of being badly injured.”

“Xiang Ning hid his strength too well. I didn’t think he’d be this strong, and I know I’ve said a few bad things. Do you think he holds grudges?”

“You’re thinking too highly of yourself. You’re only at Physical Tempering stage eight, while he’s already a tier one, six-star martial artist. Why should he remember you?”

A group of students passionately discussed while Wang Zhe contentedly sat and listened. Everyone knew that Fatty Wang was on very good terms with Xiang Ning.

“Wang Zhe, I heard that Zhao Huatai is no pushover, can Xiang Ning win?”

Wang Zhe proceeded to boast about Xiang Ning. “Of course. He can even win in a single strike.”

When Xiang Ning returned to the classroom, everyone had been entranced by Wang Zhe’s boasting. When they saw him return, everyone wanted to talk to him; there was even a girl that initially hated him who was trying to seduce him.

He ignored everyone and returned to his seat. Soon, the bell for the last class rang and everyone rushed toward the martial arena. This wasn’t something that happened often, especially for those in the Physical Tempering stage. It was a one-in-a-hundred chance to improve themselves by witnessing a fight between martial artists of their age group.

Xiang Ning was surrounded by students as he walked into the arena, similar to a celebrity. He was trying so hard to hold in his laughter.

Zhao Huatai was already waiting in the ring, and the entire arena was already filled with people. It looked like half of the entire student body was there.

“Xiang Ning! Good luck!” a melodious voice rang. Even though the arena was very loud, he could still pinpoint where the voice came from. Xiang Xiaoyu and Wang Zhe were standing side by side, waving their hands at him.

Xiang Ning waved back.

“My brother will win, right!?” Xiang Xiaoyu asked.

Looking at her beautiful eyes, Wang Zhe’s heart fluttered. “Of course!”

The ring was roughly the size of two basketball courts. Zhao Huatai was wielding a rubber longsword and staring at Xiang Ning.

Xiang Ning walked up to the ring and bowed toward the Withered Wolf, instructor Mu Xiao. On the other side was Class 2’s instructor, Zhang Jiasheng. He then picked up a similar long sword and looked toward Zhao Huatai, who was standing fifty meters away. Everyone knew the rules; the winner would be decided when one’s opponent was knocked out of the ring or surrendered. But based on the current situation it looked like it wouldn't be easy.

“I know you’re strong, but when you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you.” Zhao Huatai kept his eyes on Xiang Ning as he got into a stance.

“So what if I looked at you?”
