Forbidden Zone of the Human Race

Chapter 87: Shameless

Xiang Ning and Fang Rou spent the entire morning traveling, dodging every beast and only fighting when absolutely necessary. When they passed through a small town, Xiang Ning had the uncomfortable feeling that they were being watched. “Do you feel like we’re being watched?“ he asked. It was scorching hot this afternoon; perhaps the sun was cooking his brain?

Fang Rou looked ahead at the tall buildings. Perhaps there were beasts watching from inside, or people in the buildings on the lookout.

“Even if someone’s watching us, we don’t have time for it. Lu Shiyu and the other two are vulnerable,” she said, shaking her head. And it would be impossible for them to circle around the town.

Xiang Ning nodded. Right now, he was already able to fight six beasts under tier two alone. His prowess had greatly impressed Fang Rou. Specifically, he could drag the fight out as if to perfect his skills. That meant he was still practicing despite reaching such a high level of mastery.

Fang Rou greatly respected him, promising herself that she would practice her skills. It didn’t matter if she attained Awakened or Peak Mastery, for they were far from her current qualifications. But the increase in skillfulness wasn’t linear so even one or two tiers would mean a significant improvement in strength. When two fighters of equal tiers met, the winner was determined by who understood their techniques better!

It was true!

The two quickly passed through the town, ignoring the beasts they saw. They traveled fast, but just as they arrived at a crossroads, a beast leaped out. Xiang Ning narrowed his gaze. He leaped from Fang Rou’s side, then cleanly sliced the Boulder Boar through its torso with a flash of his blade. It was a bloody scene.

Fang Rou stopped in her tracks, too, staring at him with a bitter smile. That was a tier one, nine-star beast! Its back was even its most well-protected area, yet Xiang Ning had cut through it like nothing. Once again, she had witnessed the true might of a skill at Peak Mastery.

When he waved for her to follow him, there was a sudden flash of a blade. Xiang Ning huffed and parried, causing a loud clang as both weapons collided. The person whose attack had been parried quickly took ten steps back, pulling a distance between them.

“So you’re from Qiling Academy. You’re quite good,” huffed the attacker.

“It’s too bad that you’re a shameless bastard, though. It’s no use being strong if you don’t have values.” Xiang Ning frowned at the unwelcome guests.

Fang Rou walked over and looked at the few people who appeared. “Who are you? Why are you attacking us?”

The man smirked. “My name is Huang Jiasheng, from the first school. You should have heard of me, right?”

“Nope,” Xiang Ning replied without a thought. He then held Fang Rou’s hand and walked in another direction. Their task was to find Lu Shiyu and the rest, not waste time here.

“Hmmph, are all Qiling students this timid?” sneered Huang Jiasheng.

Initially, Fang Rou hadn’t wanted to talk to them, but how could she ignore them when they insulted her school? “What game are you playing, insulting our school for no reason? If it’s because of Mo Longtang, you have the wrong guy.”

“Hahaha, I have the wrong guy? You two are exactly the ones I was looking for. You didn’t rescue my brother, despite his injuries—all you did was watch! He had to quit the activity because of you! How dare you steal their prey, too?! You’re all shameless!” roared Huang Jiasheng.

Qiling and Hanwu Academy’s conflict had been ugly since the beginning, but that benefited the other schools because it left more beasts for the rest to hunt. Based on capability alone, there should be at least three Hanwu teams ranked in the top ten, but now there was only one. Qiling Academy wasn’t a strong school, so without Xiang Ning’s team, they probably wouldn’t have a single team ranked in the top ten. All of their teams had been suppressed by Hanwu students.

“Heh, if it weren’t for us arriving in time, your brother would be a pile of bones!” sneered Fang Rou. She remembered it all too well. “They abandoned us so happily, too! Hehe, but when they were surrounded a second time, they even called us for help! So just who exactly is the shameless one here?”

Xiang Ning pulled her hand. “Let’s not waste time with these bastards, they’re all arrogant. We need to go find Lu Shiyu and the rest.”

Fang Rou nodded; however, their opponents would never let them go so easily. Especially not after what Xiang Ning had said.

“Hmph! How dare you treat us students from the first school like this?” Huang Jiasheng roared in rage, then pointed at the Boulder Boar on the ground. “This was the beast we were chasing after, yet you guys killed it! Since you publicly snatched our prey, you must face the consequences!”

Fang Rou’s eyes widened. “This beast rushed out and blocked our way. If we didn’t kill it, were we supposed to wait for you to come claim it?”

Huang Jiasheng’s mouth twitched, but he still coldly said, “Based on the rules, we have the right to attack you!” Then he waved, and the four people behind him surrounded Xiang Ning and Fang Rou with sneers on their faces.

“How shameless. But I like it.” Xiang Ning smirked. He wasn’t afraid of them; he still had a cute sister waiting at home! To him, they were great sources of Fury Points as well!

“Leave them to me,” he said, stopping Fang Rou.

She thought for a moment, then smiled. She was confident in his abilities. Xiang Ning had fought six tier one, six-star beasts, including two with eight and nine stars. Why wouldn’t he beat them? They all must have a death wish!

She stood back and watched their expressions change.
