Chapter 058: Is This Girl Karin Uzumaki and Sasuke's Daughter?

Danzo had kept the secret of transplanting the Uchiha clan's Sharingan into his arm hidden from everyone, except for a few within the Root division. Even the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was unaware of it. After Uchiha Itachi wiped out the Uchiha clan, Danzo immediately led his Root members to collect all the Sharingan, publicly claiming that they had been destroyed. In reality, he kept them for himself and had been researching the Sharingan ever since.

Sharingan transplants were notoriously difficult, especially when transplanting so many at once, as they would conflict with his own cells. Therefore, he enlisted Orochimaru to help him transplant Hashirama's cells into his body. However, unlike Yamato, Danzo's fusion with these cells was incomplete and flawed.
