HIATUS

"You smug son of a bitch", Rockwell said to Alexander Pierce. Right now the 4 members of the World Security Council were all gathered in the Triskelion to celebrate the latest method to secure the safety of the world. Right after the invasion of New York, they realized that they needed to become proactive rather than reactive. After Gideon Malick resigned from his position due to the backlash of him strong-arming the agency to used Nuclear Weapons, the remaining members talk among themselves, and they concluded that Project Insight was the best way to secure humanity's safety. To think that HYDRA has manipulated them, made the members of the World Security Council extremely angry.

Pierce stops typing something on his phone and scanned the 4 people that were with him. He walks towards the window and he looks at the river where the Insight Carriers were hidden.

"Let me ask you a question. What if Pakistan marched into Mumbai tomorrow, and you knew that they were gonna drag your daughters into a soccer stadium for execution?", Pierce then turns around and looks straight at the eyes of one of the World Security member, Councilman Singh. "And you could just stop it with a flick of the switch. Wouldn't you?". Pierce then look at everyone in the room and said, "Wouldn't you all?

With a determined look on Councilman Singh's face, he said, "Not if it was your switch".

"I see", Pierce responded. It was at this moment that HYDRA agents still wearing S.H.I.E.L.D. uniforms entered the room. Pierce just nodded at them and they immediately knew what he meant. The group of HYDRA agents immediately took out their guns and kill all the members of the World Security Council.

"BANG!" "BANG!" "BANG!" "BANG!"

Once all of them were dead, Pierce took out his phone and contacted Agent Rumlow.

MEANWHILE IN THE TRISKELION'S COMMAND CENTER:

"Damn it", Rumlow said as he took cover from enemy gunfire.

"BANG!" "BANG!" "BANG!" "BANG!"

During Hill's speech, he already realized that he needed to enter the command center so that the Helicarriers could take flight. But the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents acted much quicker than him. Every single HYDRA mole that was inside the command center were killed and now Agent Sharon Carter and a few handfuls of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents have been protecting the command center ever since. This had become a major headache for Rumlow and his STRIKE team. They needed to enter the room as quickly as possible but they couldn't do that when their enemy was raining bullets at them.

As bullets were flying in the air, Rumlow got a call from Alexander Pierce.

"Sir, we still haven't entered the command center", Rumlow said as he reloaded his gun. At the end of the line, Pierce replied, "Don't worry, you will be able to enter that room soon. Make sure to launch the Helicarriers once your inside". Pierce then ended the call.

Rumlow was shocked, he is a veteran of warfare. He has done multiple missions in multiple different terrains. He knew that entering the command center couldn't be done within a few minutes.

"BANG!"

It was at that moment a large explosion was heard inside the command center. The gunshots that were aimed at their direction briefly stop. It took a second or two before gunfire and screaming were heard inside of the room.

Realizing that this was a good opening Rumlow immediately acted.

"STRIKE ON ME!".

Rumlow accompanied by his team immediately entered the said room. The moment they were inside they realized who caused the explosion and who the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were firing at.

One of the centipede soldiers had destroyed one of the walls and used it to enter the command center. With the brief distraction of his entry, the centipede supersoldier took care of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents guarding the room. With brutal efficiency, he either knockout or killed all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents that he could see.

For a brief moment, Rumlow looks at the smug face of the centipede soldier in the room, "So your our backup, huh?"

The centipede soldier had a smirk on his face, he picks up a gun that was on the floor and said to Rumlow, "I have been ordered to kill all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the facility. I believe you can handle this place. I did take care of the harder part of your job".

Rumlow narrowed his eyes in anger due to the insult the centipede soldier said to him. This prompted the supersoldier to smile. He then left using the same destroyed wall he entered.

"Bastard", Rumlow's teammate commented.

"It doesn't matter, he doesn't know his time is numbered"

"What does that mean?"

"Nothing", Rumlow replied as he went towards one of the computers and place the command to activate the Insight Carriers. Due to the security requirements needed during the launching of the Insight Carriers, HYDRA increased their number of centipede soldiers, even though the serum they used was still lethality unstable.

With the serum, they recruited willing candidates in HYDRA to become a supersoldier. But they didn't tell them that the serum would kill them. Rumlow was already high enough in the hierarchy of HYDRA agents that he knew the consequences of taking the drug. So, he didn't nominate himself.

Only those in the bottom ranks of HYDRA who knew nothing about what the serum would do to their bodies immediately sign themselves up for the chance to become a supersoldier. This resulted in those formerly low ranking HYDRA members to have an ego boost.

After inputting the necessary command, Rumlow contacted Pierce and said, "The Insight Carriers acti---"

"BANG!"

The Insight Carriers had been launch but before he could finish his sentence a gun was fired in the room.  One of the STRIKE team members now lays dead on the floor. Rumlow with his quick reflexes immediately took out his gun from his holster and fired it at the person who killed his teammate.

"BANG!"

With one bullet, Agent Rumlow hit the stomach of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that fired the gun. She was an extremely beautiful blonde woman, and she now lay on the floor with blood oozing from her stomach. She used her left hand to press her wound, but she realized that she was slowly losing her strength.

When the centipede soldier attack, she survived due to losing consciousness when the supersoldier threw a person at her. This made her hit her head in the wall and briefly lose consciousness. The moment she opened her eyes she immediately fired her gun at the first enemy she saw.

Rumlow slowly walks towards the dying S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and pointed his gun at her forehead, "You should have played dead, agent".

"BANG!"
