Humans Shrunk 100 Times

Chapter 164: Big Eater

"Superpowers?"

Chen Mu half-sincerely and half-fraudulently put on a curious look while quickly analyzing these people in his mind.

It seemed that they had been in this office from the beginning, and since then, they hadn't gone out, nor had anyone else come in, leading them to believe they were the only ones with abilities.

But from what he could tell, their abilities seemed quite ordinary, at least not possessing formidable combat power; otherwise, they wouldn't be staying here, waiting for someone to rescue them.

"Yeah, that's right!"

Yuyuan spoke with both pride and excitement, somewhat boastfully, "On the first day we hid here, we discovered we had superpowers; otherwise, we wouldn't have survived until today."

"Oh?"

This time, Chen Mu was genuinely curious and asked, "What superpowers do you have?"

Knowing that there was no one around, Yuyuan still subconsciously looked left and right, then lowered his voice and said, "I can eat a lot of things."

"Huh?" Chen Mu didn't react immediately.

He Ying interjected, "Are you saying you have a big appetite?"

"Yeah, yeah!" Yuyuan's chubby face vigorously nodded, causing his cheeks to jiggle up and down.

"Eating qualifies as a superpower?" He Ying chuckled.

Yuyuan seemed to have anticipated such a reaction from others. Instead of getting upset, he became even more pleased and grinned, "If it were just the ability to eat like a big eater, of course, that wouldn't be anything special. But, I can swallow a whole soybean. What do you think of that as a superpower?"

He Ying was about to laugh out loud but suddenly thought that in the current world, being able to eat a single soybean was indeed quite impressive.

Think about it, the ten or so people in Qiming could only finish one grain of rice in a day.

So, a single soybean should be equivalent to more than ten grains of rice.

Considering this, his appetite was indeed terrifying.

"You're saying that in your current state, you can eat a whole soybean? The kind used to make soy milk?" Chen Mu found it hard to believe.

"Exactly! That soybean is bigger than my head if you look at the size," Yuyuan proudly explained.

Chen Mu wasn't quite sure about the weight and density of soybeans, having never seen one in the post-apocalyptic world. But using his imagination, he understood the incredibility of the matter.

This level of appetite had clearly surpassed that of a big eater and indeed qualified as an extraordinary ability.

"Where did you get the soybeans from?"

"It's Teacher Wan's." Yuyuan said, looking somewhat dejected. "I used to come here often to play with Teacher Wan. He loved to roast soybeans as snacks and would always offer them to us. But no one else liked to eat them except me, so he liked me the most."

"So, you've survived until now by relying on those roasted soybeans?" He Ying still found it unbelievable.

"Yes," Yuyuan smiled. "But Teacher Wan kept the roasted soybeans in the drawer of his desk, and we couldn't access them. Luckily, we found one on the ground, probably dropped accidentally before."

"So, the three of you survived on just that one soybean?" Chen Mu was still skeptical.

He knew that some older people liked to have roasted soybeans as an accompaniment to alcohol or as a snack, as roasting removes the moisture and allows for longer storage. However, two months seemed a bit too long.

"No, Senior, you misunderstood me. I finished that soybean on the first day," Yuyuan clarified.

"What about afterward?" He Ying asked, puzzled.

"Afterward, I didn't need to eat anymore," Yuyuan said with a smug look, as if saying, "See, you didn't guess it, right?"

"Wait, so your superpower is that you can eat enough food at once, and then you don't need to eat again for the following days?" Chen Mu realized.

"Yes, exactly! Not only that, after I've eaten enough, even the people around me don't need to eat anymore," Yuyuan boasted.

...

This ability can provide energy to the people around him?

Chen Mu pondered for a long time before roughly understanding the implications. These three people had survived until now based on the one soybean that Yuyuan ate at the beginning. He wasn't entirely sure about the specifics of this power, nor did he know if one soybean would be enough to sustain three people for two months. Moreover, how did he provide energy to others? Was it like transferring internal energy in martial arts novels, or did people only need to be near him?

Chen Mu didn't have time to inquire further.

But for now, this ability seemed pretty impressive.

One person eats to his fill, and the whole family has no worries.

"What about water?" He Ying became curious about this chubby guy and asked.

"No need to drink water," Yuyuan replied.

"Not need to drink water?" He Ying and Chen Mu both exclaimed in astonishment.

Thinking about how much effort and hardship they had gone through to find water in the past, and now someone's superpower solved all their problems.

"Yeah, after we came in, we haven't had to drink water at all," Yuyuan also seemed puzzled and said, "At first, we were really anxious and planned to rest for a bit before going out to find water. But after a whole day, we didn't feel thirsty at all, and it has been like this until today."

He Ying pondered for a moment and asked Chen Mu, "What do you think?"

"It seems like some kind of superpower that can digest, store, and transfer energy from food, but I'm not sure of the specifics. If possible, it would be best to go back and let Tang Jing study it."

Chen Mu whispered a few words to He Ying and then turned back to Yuyuan, saying, "After the disaster, some of us gathered together and established a camp in a certain place. Life is still manageable at the moment. Your... superpower would be quite helpful to us. Would you be willing to join us?"

Strictly speaking, this was Chen Mu's first time actively recruiting someone, and he felt a bit nervous inside.

Yuyuan was overjoyed and almost jumped up, "Of course, I'm willing! If you hadn't come, we might have had to go out and find a way to survive. I don't know how long that soybean can last, but I can clearly feel the sense of fullness decreasing day by day. At this rate, it probably won't last much longer."

Chen Mu breathed a sigh of relief.

He Ying smiled and said, "Welcome to join our Qiming."

Yuyuan exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, your organization is called Qiming? What a great name! Oh no, now it's our organization!"

Somehow, Chen Mu suddenly thought of Sun Yuan.

Yuyuan suddenly felt a little uneasy and asked, "Can the other two of us join as well?"

He Ying was about to say, of course, but Chen Mu asked first, "Do they also have superpowers?"

"Yes, yes, yes," the two others nodded nervously, afraid of being rejected.

Even if they were just ordinary people, Chen Mu would still invite them to join the organization. Getting to know more people might be helpful on their way back.

Besides, Chen Mu didn't want people to think that their organization would accept just anyone, although in reality, that was indeed the case.
