Chapter 186: Seeking Refuge

After completing the first set of tables and chairs, Chen Mu called Dong Junwei and asked if she had any specific requests.

The Chief Decision Officer spun around the tables and chairs twice.

"I also want patterns and designs like Tang Jing's, but not too fancy. Can you draw a rose? Just place one in the bottom right corner of the desk."

"Team Leader, are you deliberately making things difficult for me, Pang Hu? Do I look like someone who understands flowers?" Chen Mu said irritably.

"Just a simple sketch will do. I'll carve it with a knife to show you, and then you can imprint it on the table with your ability," Dong Junwei insisted.

Chen Mu had no choice. Since he had already agreed, he would see it through. He compared Dong Junwei's drawing and imprinted a simple rose in the bottom right corner of the desk.

"Team Leader, this drawing is not bad at all," Chen Mu was surprised by Dong Junwei's drawing ability.

"I learned basic sketching when I was young, but I quickly gave it up."

"I always admire people who can draw."

"If you combine your ability with art, it should have a nice effect," Dong Junwei smiled.

"Well, you know, my Peppa Pig is outstanding," Chen Mu said without modesty.

The two of them rarely discussed topics related to supernatural abilities. Their conversations mostly revolved around daily life.

Dong Junwei couldn't help but laugh. She was about to speak when an alarm sounded.

Soon, news arrived that two people were approaching their location.

Chen Mu furrowed his brows slightly.

He quickly rushed to the observatory and used a telescope to look in the direction pointed out by Zhao Xiaoyan.

Sure enough.

In his line of sight, two figures were hurrying in their direction.

Because the distance was quite far, even with a telescope, it was difficult to see them clearly. However, from their movements and silhouettes, it seemed to be two girls.

"Could they be from the Green Tablet group? Here to monitor us?" He Ying had already reached the observatory ahead of everyone and also saw the two figures.

"Based on their appearance, it seems they have no intention of hiding their tracks. This kind of surveillance is quite lackluster," He Ying said.

"Then who could they be? This place is quite remote; it's unlikely that any survivors would coincidentally come here," He Ying said.

"We don't know yet. Maybe they are here to seek refuge," Chen Mu jokingly said.

At least from the surface, these two people didn't seem to harbor any hostility, nor were they trying to conceal their presence. Moreover, as they got closer, it could be seen that their footsteps seemed somewhat hurried, as if they were being chased.

"It seems like they're running away from someone," Chen Mu remarked.

"Then what should we do? Should we go out and meet them proactively, or pretend not to know?"

"From the way they look, it seems like they know our location very well. Let's go down and see."

The place they saw through the telescope was actually quite a distance away, and it took about half an hour before the two individuals arrived at the door.

"Is there anyone there? Please, take us in!"

Because there were railings below the door crack, the voices could be heard clearly from the other side. However, this statement left everyone stunned.

Indeed, they came seeking refuge?

With only two people on the other side, there wasn't much concern about them being enemies. However, it wasn't easy to let outsiders in either.

Clearly, those two individuals were unfamiliar with this side of the door, and after searching for a while, they couldn't find an entrance. They had to crouch down and call out through the railings.

Chen Mu took the initiative to handle the negotiations and approached the two individuals. He crouched down as well and asked, "Who are you?"

"Thank goodness, there are people here. Please, take us in, or else we're as good as dead."

Both girls were wearing the uniform of Ziwei High School. One of them was taller, slim, and appeared to be slightly taller than Dong Junwei. The other one was relatively shorter but bore some resemblance to Du Jiajia.

Chen Mu couldn't quite figure out their background since it was unlikely for regular survivors to end up in such a desolate place without food or water.

Moreover, they seemed very familiar with this location.

"What are your names?" Chen Mu asked while still crouching.

"I'm An Ruosu, and she's Yang Li," the taller girl replied, glancing at Chen Mu through the railings. Then she seemed excited and said, "You're Senior Chen Mu, right?"

Chen Mu was taken aback.

The other side actually recognized him?

He became more curious and asked, "You know Chen Mu?"

"I don't know him... but I've seen his portrait... Aren't you Chen Mu? You look very similar," the girl hurriedly explained.

Since when did he have a portrait?

It felt like he was being wanted by someone.

Chen Mu asked, "Where did you come from?"

The girl hesitated for a moment, then said, "From Qingbei."

"Qingbei?!"

This statement once again shocked everyone.

Dong Junwei, Tang Jing, and the others had also arrived behind Chen Mu but remained silent.

"Hello, everyone."

The two girls outside clearly saw the others, and when they spotted Dong Junwei, their faces lit up with excitement.

"You're Senior Dong, right? I know you... I really admire you... Can you please let us in first...? We're in a hurry," the two girls spoke in a rushed and disorganized manner.

Chen Mu said, "If you really are from Qingbei, then we can't let you in temporarily."

"Ah, I didn't explain properly. We were from Qingbei before, but we escaped from there."

"Escaped?"

Chen Mu was puzzled, "Is someone chasing after you?"

"Not yet, but it will happen soon."

"Why did you escape from Qingbei? Isn't it known for not forcing others to join and allowing them to leave at any time?" Chen Mu asked.

"How do you know?" the girl named An Ruosu was surprised.

Chen Mu hesitated for a moment and said, "Song Yu."

An Ruosu exclaimed, "You do know Senior Song? Do you really secretly contact each other often?"

Now it was Chen Mu's turn to be stunned. Me? And Song Yu? Secretly contacting each other?

What is going on here?

"You haven't answered my question," Chen Mu didn't know what to say.

"Uh... It's a long story. Can you let us in first? If we stay out here any longer, we might be discovered. You saw it too, there are only two of us, and we pose no threat at all."

She looked back at Dong Junwei.

Dong Junwei nodded, "Let them in. We all have hand grenades ready."

Chen Mu nodded.

"You two, go east."

Chen Mu came to the part of the door that allowed passage and opened it to look outside. The two girls were rushing toward him.

He also observed the surroundings for a while and indeed found no traces of a third person.

He allowed the two inside the room but didn't let them go further.

He began questioning them right at the entrance.

The two girls were obviously prepared and answered every question promptly.
