Humans Shrunk 100 Times

Chapter 57: Nonsense

"Why?"

The young man clearly couldn't understand and asked with confusion, "This person is quite ordinary, so ordinary that... he seems a bit childish. Did you hear the questions he asked? They sounded like a child's."

Song Yu smiled and replied, "He speaks with the experience of an open book but the mind of a recluse. That's what children do."

"Huh?" The young man scratched his head, feeling a bit uneasy.

"If you meet someone for the first time and feel that he is very scheming, then he probably isn't." Song Yu used a tone that didn't match his age as he said this, as if he had suddenly realized something, and then continued with a smile, "Actually, I'm just like you, unable to see anything special about that guy."

"But then why...?"

"Exactly because of that, it becomes a problem."

"Hmm?"

"You also know He Ying; you should know what kind of person she is."

Song Yu seemed to recall something and let out a soft sigh, continuing, "She is very much like Dong Junwei, both are proud and strong-willed, they like to be in control of everything. I learned from the conversation with Feng Xiaoyu earlier that after the disaster, He Ying has been gathering classmates and taking the initiative to shoulder everyone's livelihood. If Dong Junwei were still alive, I believe she would do the same."

"Hmm..." The young man seemed to understand Song Yu's meaning.

"With He Ying's personality, she might accept defeat but will never give in easily, let alone obediently follow someone else's orders. However, from what happened earlier, it seems that she has become overly reliant on that Chen Mu. Perhaps, she hasn't even realized it herself."

"Maybe it's because Chen Mu has a group of people supporting him?"

"That's highly possible," Song Yu said with certainty, "From what we can see now, despite having superpowers, humans can hardly survive alone. And it's very likely that behind Chen Mu stands Dong Junwei and her group."

He paused for a moment and then continued, "But the thing is, with He Ying's temperament, she would never just submit because the other side has more people. Otherwise, she would have joined us long ago. The fact that she depends on this Chen Mu must have convincing reasons behind it."

The young man thought for a while and suddenly asked, "So... Dong Junwei and the others are still alive? Is that guy deceiving us?"

Song Yu chuckled as if recalling something amusing and said, "Looking back now, he didn't deceive us. Every word he said was impeccable. Hmm... it was as if he hadn't said anything at all."

"He's really cunning," the young man said indignantly.

Song Yu sighed, "He's a dangerous person. He doesn't care about others' opinions and doesn't need to maintain an image to satisfy even a bit of vanity. He will do anything to achieve his goals. He even wants you to think he's ordinary and childish."

The young man pondered for a long time, finding some truth in Song Yu's words but not wanting to admit it fully. After a while, he smiled and said, "Senior Song, you are quite impressive. You saw through his disguise at a glance."

"If He Ying wasn't here, I wouldn't have thought much about it. Also, I used to know someone..."

Song Yu suddenly stopped speaking.

The young man didn't dare to ask further.

After about twenty minutes passed, the slim and delicate girl from earlier suddenly spoke, "Sister replied to the message."

"What did she say?"

"Chen Mu, an orphan, has above-average grades, doesn't talk much in ordinary situations, and people don't know much about him. He has a good relationship with someone named Wei Dalei in the class."

"That's all?"

"Yes, that's all."

"Got it. Thank you, and thanks for your hard work," said Song Yu, maintaining his usual grace and amiability.

"It's nothing," the girl replied mechanically, also offering a polite response, then fell silent again.

...

After Song Yu and the others left for some time, Chen Mu also prepared to return.

Feng Xiaoyu had originally thought of packing up their things, but then realized there was nothing much to pack. The little bit of food they had left was scavenged from the ground around the cafeteria and had already begun to show signs of decay. For the past few days, they had been facing a dilemma: they wanted to eat the food, but they were afraid they would have nothing to eat later, yet if they didn't eat it, it would go bad, and they wouldn't dare to eat it later.

Therefore, when they were found by the people from Qingbei, their excitement was understandable.

Feng Xiaoyu made a rather important decision in his life and was feeling a bit uncertain about it.

The group of four set off on their way back.

"Xiaoyu, how did Song Yu and the others find you? Was there any conflict?" asked someone.

"I don't really understand either. We had been staying near the ventilation hole, but somehow, someone suddenly appeared behind us, and our weapons inexplicably flew away. However, they quickly assured us they had no ill intentions. We saw two of them still wearing Ziwei High School uniforms, so we felt somewhat reassured," Feng Xiaoyu explained.

He Ying looked a little surprised after hearing this and glanced at Chen Mu.

Chen Mu nodded and said, "One of them seemed to have spatial teleportation abilities, and the other probably had telekinesis or the ability to move objects."

"This is too incredible," He Ying sighed. "No wonder they dare to search everywhere for people."

"But there's no need to worry too much," Chen Mu said.

Chen Mu comforted, "I think that Song Yu is a decent person. At the moment, he won't become our enemy. Just have Sun Yuan keep an occasional eye on him, especially when he's closer to home."

He Ying now had some confidence and said, "Even if they do start something, we might not necessarily be afraid."

Feng Xiaoyu still seemed worried and tentatively asked, "If they really give us trouble, Senior Chen Mu, you can easily handle them, right?"

Chen Mu suddenly understood why He Ying said Feng Xiaoyu was clever.

This girl probably felt awkward about directly asking about Chen Mu's abilities, so she tried to probe through such words.

However, before Chen Mu could respond, He Ying spoke first, "The strength of an ability doesn't solely depend on its type. I've noticed that the more extraordinary the power, the harder it is to control."

Chen Mu went along with it, ignoring Feng Xiaoyu's question and nodded in agreement, "Just like the opponent's spatial teleportation ability. It indeed seems overpowering, but if he were really that strong, he wouldn't need others to roam around. He could simply teleport endlessly, right?"

"So I guess this ability must have many limitations, like only being able to teleport oneself or having short distances, cooldown time, high mental energy consumption, and so on..." added He Ying.

Then He Ying suddenly asked, "The person who appeared behind you, was it not Song Yu?"

Feng Xiaoyu shook his head, "No, it was another boy."

"So, Song Yu's ability might be to control the movement of objects?" said He Ying.

"Very likely," Feng Xiaoyu replied.

"You two are quite similar," said He Ying.

Feng Xiaoyu's ears perked up.

However, Chen Mu didn't fulfill her expectations and only said, "From the description, his ability should be usable over a distance. I just don't know the extent of control it offers, but I guess it might be related to the distance and the mass of the objects."

"I have a similar thought," said He Ying casually, and a mischievous smirk appeared on her face, "I have a feeling that you two will become mortal enemies."

"Why?" Chen Mu was puzzled, "Just because our abilities are similar?"

"And because of Dong Junwei," He Ying added.

"What's wrong with Dong Junwei?" Chen Mu clearly couldn't keep up with He Ying's wild train of thought.

He Ying glanced at Chen Mu, seeing no signs of deception on his face, and smiled faintly, "Nothing, I was just talking nonsense."
