Hunter of the Perished World

Chapter 19

[19] This case is already closed (1)

Knock, knock.

When you hear the knock, Gene is already awake. Just the sound of his footsteps coming up and down the stairs was enough for Jin to recover consciousness from the sleeping world.

“Look, huntsman. I own this place.”

“Tell me if you hear me.”

Gene says so, and opens the visit while checking on Leona, who is still asleep. There, the owner looks at Gin with a look of something to say.

“I was going to tell you if you came down for dinner later, but you didn’t come down. Aren’t you going to eat?”

“I wouldn’t hesitate if it was free, but it’s not in your nature.”

“Yes, it is. By the way, I was supposed to pay for some work.”

“Does your hard work have anything to do with my work?”

“You seem like a pretty good hunter. Right?”

Whenever I was asked these questions, Gene was unfamiliar, but he was not a liar.

“Well, I don’t know what kind of power you want, but it’s pretty good either way.”

Jinn’s solemn yet joking answer was that the owner shook his hand.

“Wow, such power (?) is not necessary. Anyway, I don’t know what this is about, but I’ve been asked to find a useful hunter.”

The inn is filled with drifters, and the drifters include hunters. Therefore, quests for hunters are primarily given to Inns in the City of Liberty. Innkeepers appoint hunters and receive brokerage fees. In many ways, the inn business was the easiest job I had ever had.

Of course, there is a risk of exposure to the unexpected violence of the wanderers.

“But I’m a little embarrassed that I didn’t say it right away….”

“Feeling reluctant?”

“There’s a Soldier in Shira now.”

“…… Wargrave is here?”

Gene tilted his head.

“I don’t want to get involved if I’m messed up, but this is a lot of money. The business owners are all scared if you introduce them to me. But if you snatch it, it’s a penis, right? Right?”

“Ahh… I think I know what it’s about.”

Gene used to ask me a few questions.

“Wargrave Soldier is waiting for a useful hunter from Shira to arrive, and you don’t know the details of the quest?” You don’t give a shit about what kind of damage they’re gonna get? ”

“Precisely! Clever, huntsman.”

Jin nods slowly at the master’s words. The owner saw that Jean had come back to life shortly after Namhae. And when I saw that there was even a child, I was sure he was a useful hunter.

If you are able to take one child around the wilderness, that means you are not usually good at it.

The innkeeper’s sledges were based on practical judgment, not on a hunch.

‘It’s unusual that Wargrav won’t leave Fortress unless it’s a special occasion. Although there is an SMCP just north….’

“Something seems to be wrong.”

“Hmm….”

Gene nods slowly, listening to the innkeeper’s explanation.

‘I have a hunch.’

Gene stares at the owner, who is somewhat grumpy.

“I understand the general public’s fear of Wargrave. ‘

Often, ordinary people fear Wargrave on a slater level because it is an unmet military group.

“Where’s Soldier?”

First of all, there’s nothing wrong with meeting her.

Gene lets Leona sleep and heads to Shira’s Townhall where Soldier is staying.

Town Hall is a place where the city’s prominent members could be reasonably discussed about urban administration, and there must have been one in the free city. Chipped, crowded, respected elder.

After all, it’s just a chattering area where people say they fart.

Town Hall used to be a small gathering of people, but now no ants are seen except for the guards.

Of course, the guards were also terrified. The guards also know that the approaching leader is a hunter.

“Are you looking for Soldier?”

“That’s right.”

“It’s in the middle of the second floor.”

Gene crosses the guards. Armed with crude crossbows and spears, it was better than Ad Point, but it wasn’t much better. Gene looks at Shira’s armor and thinks their fears are not entirely unfounded.

‘One squad of Wargraves will destroy this free city.’

Maybe one will suffice. Wargrave was the only group with overwhelming force and organization in the world to come.

However, few people knew what their intentions were, as well as stockpiling unlimited power.

In the middle of the second floor, I entered a room that looked like it was once used by the office, and there was someone sitting on an old couch.

He looked at the visitor and said briefly.

“You’re a hunter.”

The person in the gray uniform was taking a clean look and a neat attitude as if he had fallen from this shabby and rugged world alone.

Clean clothes and unsanitary skin. I didn’t fit in like I was from another world. Her polished hair was golden, and her fine jawline and strong eyes were showing her that she was not an ordinary person.

“Hmm, I heard there’s a soldier…”

Gene spits out, sitting in a tin chair across from him.

“You’re an officer, right?”

People called him Soldier, but Gene was able to recognize that the soldier in front of him was an officer.

In fact, I didn’t discover any great secrets.

In his view, there was a rank, and unlike everyone else, Gene could only recognize it.

“I don’t think there’s any need to correct the misunderstanding.”

Gene watches the Wargrave officer silently.

‘Blonde? Hmm… It’s not the usual kind around here.’

Gene nods slowly, not looking at the bright blonde hair. The officer also stared at the camp and said with a firm expression.

“A hunter who recognizes the ranks is trustworthy from the start.”

Gene shrugs.

“It’s not hard to recognize symbols.”

“I can trust your colorless attitude even more.”

The officer nods slowly to see how much he liked Gin’s grave attitude.

“I’d like to see the loot from one of the most dangerous monsters I’ve ever hunted, is that okay?”

Of course, you don’t leave dangerous quests to anyone. That’s why we needed some kind of verification process, and the hunter had to prove himself as a loot. Of course, I can’t help it if it’s captured from somewhere.

“You’d be surprised how difficult it is to show something quite plausible, and that should be enough.”

What Gene pulled out of his arms was a dark-bitten reed. The grass flute, which was emptied of a fairly large reed’s coffin, looked rather grim. Also, the grass flute was so strong that the gin was not distorted at all.

“What is this?”

“It’ll be quicker to show them.”

Gene took the Grass Flute to his mouth and lightly blew it.

Queahhhh!

“!”

The officer was delirious to the sound of a terrifying murmur, and Gene took the Grass Flute out of his mouth and put it in his chest.

“Uh, uh… How could you…. Did you say that?”

It was an eerie and strange sound that could not be called a flute. However, Gene breathed light into the flute. The officer’s eyes widen as he hears the sound of it.

“The Flute of Evil Bites.”

“Evil bite…?”

“Do you understand me if I say Charm?”

“Ah….”

Only after hearing that, the officer took a sigh of relief and slowly sat down.

“Yes… I’ve heard of it. Grade hunters have special amulets…”

The officer was only able to understand the unpleasantly large and frightening sound that occurred in the Flute.

“Is this proven enough? What can I do to tell you again?”

“Ah, that’s enough, ah, put it in! It’s okay!”

The officer throws up his hand as Gin tries to pull the Demon Bite Flute out of his arms again. Gene smiled as he watched where his first solemn attitude had gone and the flute sounded chaotic at once.

‘You may have a high rank, but you have a short career.’

It was Jean’s judgment that she was far from a martyr yet. If you’re a hunter enough to carry an Amulet, you don’t need to verify it separately.

“Validation is sufficient, by the way, since this is a personal curiosity, is it okay to ask?”

“If you can answer that.”

“What’s with the flute? Does it make that weird sound?”

“I told you, it’s the Devil’s Flute.”

The officer stared straight at the camp to see if he didn’t understand. After doing Bleak Mountain once, I haven’t been able to manage my face since.

“A flute chasing demons.”

“Phew…. Amazing…”

Flutes made from the blood of evil spirits reproduce the nobleness. As fire suppresses fire, it was a simple principle that uses the cries of more powerful demons when chasing after demons.

Of course, Jean did not tell us that, although it is possible that more powerful ghosts than the warts could be attracted to the evil cry.

“I’m getting tired of this filthy town, and someone just showed up for me.”

The name Wargrave doesn’t include any of the most fearsome swindlers, and the hunters who don’t want to get involved in the troubles shake their heads. That’s why I was the first one to come here.

“I can’t disclose the details of the incident, so let’s take the introduction lightly. His name is Charles, and his rank is lieutenant. Lieutenant Carl, Carl, whatever you want.”

“Very well. Lieutenant Carl, let’s get down to business.”

Gene rolls his lieutenant’s name over his mouth several times and smiles fatally.

‘An alias…’

For whatever reason, Lieutenant Carl has come quite a long way. There’s nothing good about getting involved with Wargraves, and they usually solve their own problems on their own. Therefore, it is rare to place a quest like this.

However, Wargrave rarely takes quests, so the reward is certain.

“Have you seen a group of slatters on a junk wagon?”

“Hmm, let’s keep listening.”

And Gene realized that maybe what he was doing was the same.

“About 19 points north of here, there was a robbery of our armored convoy. The quest is simple. I heard hunters are good at tracking, and your role is to guide them. Track down the Slatters who plundered the cargo. I’ll take care of it. I’m willing to pay 700 chips for the fight, once I’m done tracking it down properly.”

“Very generous for a simple pursuit.”

“We can rebuild our weapons, but I want you to know that we value retribution for those who underestimated us more.”

Gene was surprised that 700 chips were paid for simple tracking.

“So how did the Wargrave convoy get the Slatters to raid?”

“You know, slatters can be a pain in the ass. They’ve brought the Beast.”

“Ah, I see.”

The slatters draw a large group of monsters into contact with the Wargrave convoy with the junk wagon’s loud noises. Once the herd is dealt with, the Wargrave convoy is destroyed at the end of the war due to the lure of the creature in a pre-war fashion.

In many ways, slatters loot in a truly bizarre way and use everything available. Enough to use the monsters to rob that infamous Wargrave convoy.

Lieutenant Carl was tasked with avenging the convoy that was wiped out.

“Hmm…. If I catch them all, what’s the price?”

“… It won’t happen, but if I can’t get into a fight because I’m incapable of it, I’ll pay double for the battle. That is, 1400 chips are paid.”

You reach out your hands, fearful of falling.

“Then I’ll take 1400 chips.”

“…… Are you asking me to pay the full amount in advance? You of all people should know that this is ridiculous.”

“That’s not what I meant.”

Gene said something absurd.

“By any chance, were the looted weapons not mostly for infantry fanfare, RPG7 launchers, rocket launchers, etc.?”

“What? That’s… How…”

Lt. Carl stares at him with a trembling expression, but he can’t seem to connect. Jin said with a relaxed smile.

“Have you seen the Slater hordes in Namhae?” To answer that, I did. ”

“What….”

“They’re all dead now.”

Lt. Carl stares at Gin and opens his mouth as if it were some kind of daylight snarl.

The quest was completed before it was already dispatched.
