I Contracted Myself

Chapter 45 – Warmth

"Uncle Qiang!"

In the safe house, Zhang Ping woke up drenched in sweat, his eyes snapping open.

It took him a moment to realize that it was just a dream.

He had a nightmare where Qiu Qiang was surrounded by hordes of undead. Despite Qiu Qiang's desperate struggle, he was eventually torn apart bit by bit.

Before he died, Qiu Qiang shouted at him, "Xiao Zhang, if I die in battle, take care of Uncle Liu!!!"

Then, Zhang Ping woke up in shock.

He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and wondered how long he had been asleep.

"Sister Sisi, how long was I asleep?"

He looked at Liu Sishan, who was meditating not far away, and asked softly.

Liu Sishan opened her eyes and replied, "You slept for 67 minutes."

"That's about an hour." Zhang Ping patted his face and muttered to himself.

Even though it was just a short nap, his stamina and mental strength had recovered significantly, and he felt much better than before.

He closed his eyes, and the next moment his attention shifted to the Blood Snake. He saw a plump 'granary' and a beautiful jade neck and chin.

The rabbit was being held by a voluptuous female Awakener.

Realizing this, he turned his head and saw Qiu Qiang in the distance.

Fortunately, Qiu Qiang had a new burn mark on his cheek, but he wasn't missing any limbs like in the dream.

Zhang Ping controlled the Blood Snake to slowly seep out from the rabbit. The female Awakener, who was arranging supplies, felt a warm, wet sensation on the back of her hand. She looked down and was startled.

Just as she was about to call for help, the blood quickly seeped into her body, and she heard Zhang Ping's voice, "Don't be afraid, it's Xiao Zhang."

"You're... the little hero who lodged his ability in the rabbit?" The female Awakener quickly realized and asked.

Awakeners were well-informed, and they had already pieced together the events.

It was Zhang Ping who first discovered the undead and sent the message back to Mingzhu City, giving everyone time to prepare for battle.

Otherwise, if the city had been caught off guard by so many undead, the initial few hundred adventurers wouldn't have been able to defend it, and Mingzhu City would have been overrun.

The consequences would have been unimaginable.

In fact, many Awakeners remembered this favor in their hearts.

"Hero is too grand a term. I just did what I should. The real heroes are everyone defending Mingzhu City." Zhang Ping humbly said, not taking credit.

He was merely the first to discover the undead.

It was all the Awakeners on the city walls who defended against the undead, using their blood and lives to protect Mingzhu City.

Hearing Zhang Ping's words, the female Awakener felt even better about him. She smiled warmly despite her fatigue and asked, "Are you transferring your ability to me now? Is there something important?"

"Ah, no, no. I was just too tired and accidentally fell asleep. I was worried about the situation in the city, so when I woke up, I couldn't help but shift my attention here. Sister, you continue with your work. I'm just observing Mingzhu City's situation from a different angle." Zhang Ping said, a bit embarrassed.

The female Awakener nodded, "Alright, if you have any news, let me know immediately."

"Okay!"

Zhang Ping agreed.

The female Awakener continued to manage the supplies, while he looked around.

From her perspective, he could see much farther and more clearly than the rabbit.

The entire city was shrouded in an atmosphere of fear. Others couldn't see it, but he could see a thick purple mist swirling above Mingzhu City.

Both Awakeners and ordinary people harbored unease in their hearts.

But the Awakeners had stronger wills. They stood at the front lines, using their lives to defend the city.

After observing for a while and confirming that Mingzhu City wouldn't be in immediate danger, and that the scene from his nightmare hadn't occurred, Zhang Ping shifted his attention back to his own body.

When his attention returned to his body, he was surprised to find that his mental strength had recovered significantly.

Although he felt much better after resting, it was like having taken several exams in a row—his mind wasn't as sharp as usual.

But now, he felt much better, almost as if he could take another nap.

"Could it be because..."

Zhang Ping looked at Liu Sishan, who noticed his gaze and opened her eyes with a puzzled expression.

"Sister Sisi, can I enter your body for a while?" Zhang Ping asked after some thought.

Liu Sishan didn't think much of it and nodded, "Sure."

She rolled up her sleeve, revealing her white wrist.

Zhang Ping transformed into his pure blood form and quickly seeped into her body.

"Have you discovered something new?" Liu Sishan asked.

Zhang Ping replied, "It seems that compared to males, entering a female's body allows me to quickly recover my mental strength."

He felt very comfortable now.

The Blood Snake was too far away for this feeling to be noticeable, but his main body entering Liu Sishan's body made it very apparent, completely different from entering Liu Tiefeng's body.

Liu Sishan's body was warm, making him feel sleepy.

His blood instinctively repaired the hidden injuries in Liu Sishan's body, and as it circulated, he seemed to be strengthened as well. Not only did he not consume much pure blood, but he was also replenished.

Isn't this... dual cultivation?

Liu Sishan also noticed the changes in her body. She had an old injury in her waist that would ache if she didn't rest for long periods. But with Zhang Ping inside her, her waist felt warm, and the dull pain disappeared.

The warm current continued to circulate through her body, and she felt the day's fatigue quickly dissipate.

Her stamina and mental strength recovered at an incredible rate.

She stood up, feeling invigorated, and couldn't help but stretch, feeling like she had endless energy.

"Zhang Ping, if you develop this ability well, it might be as good as the Pure Water Body." She smiled slightly, feeling her body's state.

Zhang Ping lazily replied, "Sister Sisi, your body is so warm and comfortable."

"..."

Liu Sishan's mouth twitched slightly. Although there was nothing wrong with the words themselves, they sounded a bit off.

"Sister Sisi, something's not right outside. I'm coming out!" Suddenly, Zhang Ping transmitted.

Then, a large amount of blood flowed from Liu Sishan's wrist to the ground, forming a human shape that quickly moved to the door and looked outside.

"That's..."

Zhang Ping was shocked to see the dense horde of undead and the massive palace they were dragging.

It was a palace made of stone, carried by hundreds of strong undead oxen, with many undead pulling iron chains to move it forward bit by bit.

"This must be the mastermind behind this undead siege." Liu Sishan walked to Zhang Ping's side, looking at the towering palace with a serious expression.

The palace indicated that an Awakener was orchestrating the undead attack.

"Sister Sisi, should we probe it?" Zhang Ping hesitated.

He wasn't worried about his own safety but about implicating Liu Tiefeng.

The palace was too mysterious.

If they could find out who was inside and identify their attributes, it would greatly help Mingzhu City.

On one side was Mingzhu City, and on the other was Liu Tiefeng, leaving him momentarily indecisive.
