I Contracted Myself

Chapter 65 – The Most Beautiful Encounter

North of Mingzhu City, the endless mountains nurture countless magical beings.

Under the sunlight, a group of little wild boars followed their mother through the grass. Ahead of them was a stream as thick as an arm. The mother boar crossed it in one stride, but the leading little boar hesitated, stopping abruptly at the stream's edge.

The boar behind it bumped into its rear, causing the leading boar to fall into the water. It tumbled in the stream, and suddenly, a hand made of water lifted it up. Frightened, it scrambled to the other side.

The other little boars stared blankly at the stream until their mother urged them to cross cautiously.

The stream's clear water flowed steadily, eventually merging into a larger watercourse that ran down the mountain, seeping into the rocks and entering an underground river.

This underground river was one of Mingzhu City's most crucial water sources.

The city's water plant drew from this river, sending water through pipes to countless households.

In the Patrol Guard, several Awakeners turned on a faucet, filling a kettle to boil water. A few Tianchang Foxes watched them enter the kitchen before approaching the faucet to drink directly.

Originally, the Patrol Guard had no living members, only Tianchang Foxes.

To quickly eliminate outstanding humans, the Moon Prince had specially recruited many Awakeners under the guise of the Patrol Guard.

However, they couldn't act too hastily. If too many Awakeners disappeared at once, it would arouse suspicion among the human elites. So, the Moon Prince planned to gradually eliminate the Awakeners in the Patrol Guard, recruiting new ones batch by batch, aiming to resolve this potential threat within a year.

One Tianchang Fox finished drinking, and another stepped up. Suddenly, its eyes widened, paws flailing as it made 'woo woo' sounds.

Another Tianchang Fox frowned and rasped, "What's wrong? Don't tell me you choked on water?"

The distressed fox clutched its throat, stood up, and looked at the other fox, its eyes bulging before collapsing weakly.

"Moon Fifty-Seven? Stop pretending, get up." The other fox scolded.

But in the next moment, a water-formed arm extended from the fallen fox's eye socket, grabbing the other fox's throat. Water flowed from its body, forming a vague humanoid shape.

"Where is Su Jingyao?" Zhang Ping asked, staring at the intermediate Tianchang Fox.

The fox knew who Su Jingyao was and first thought of revenge, but quickly dismissed the idea.

Su Jingyao's social circle was well understood; it was impossible for her to have such a powerful avenger.

This meant the Awakener was here to avenge Su Jingyao!

"Human, you're courting death!"

Its eyes flashed with malice as it clawed at Zhang Ping's head.

Splat!

A water arrow pierced the fox's paw, blood spilling everywhere.

Zhang Ping impatiently said, "I'll ask one last time, where is Su Jingyao?"

"Help..."

The fox tried to call for help, but Zhang Ping activated his power before it could. His hand turned into a sharp water blade, slicing the fox's head off.

He glanced at the dead fox, then his body slowly sank, following the water flow into the sewer.

Within a minute, the Moon Prince arrived swiftly. Looking down at the two dead foxes, he said somberly, "Moon Shadow, don't waste it."

"Yes, Your Highness," Moon Shadow's voice echoed from his shadow.

Since last night, Moon Shadow noticed something was off with the Moon Prince. He seemed dazed and looked at all creatures indifferently.

'Don't waste it.'

This phrase was previously reserved for food, but now even kin weren't spared.

Moon Shadow didn't need to think; he only needed to obey the Moon Prince's orders.

...

In the sewer, Zhang Ping flowed with the dirty water.

He was worried. If the Tianchang Fox that killed Su Jingyao had changed its appearance, could he still recognize it?

"Hopefully it hasn't changed, or else..."

Zhang Ping returned to avenge Su Jingyao. As long as he didn't encounter the Moon King or Moon Prince, no one could stop him.

If he couldn't find that Tianchang Fox, he'd have to eliminate all the foxes in the Patrol Guard.

But such actions could lead to dire consequences.

After all, the residents of Mingzhu City were essentially hostages in the hands of the Tianchang Foxes.

Provoking these foxes now wasn't wise. Zhang Ping decided to leverage his connections.

Well.

He had almost no connections.

Since his arrival, it had only been a few weeks. His only friends were Wang Jieming and Liu Sishan.

But Zhang Ping didn't plan to contact Wang Jieming. He closed his eyes, transferring his consciousness to Chen Weihua, and saw a familiar face.

"Ah, I forgot to get you a drink, wait a moment," Chen Weihua said, her eyes widening as she smiled at the 'girl' in front of her.

She walked into the tea room, her hands trembling and heart racing.

"Don't be nervous. Why is it with you, Weihua?" Zhang Ping asked.

He hadn't expected such a coincidence. The Tianchang Fox he sought was right there with Chen Weihua, and it seemed to have targeted her.

"Met it last night, what should I do?" Chen Weihua whispered.

Last night, the Patrol Guard surrounded everyone fighting. She, not good at direct combat, hid in a corner and encountered the Tianchang Fox that killed Su Jingyao.

When Zhang Ping's consciousness wasn't with her, the fox appeared as Su Jingyao. But when he transferred over, the image changed.

"Weihua, be careful and stall for time. I'm coming!" Zhang Ping said urgently.

After speaking, his consciousness returned to his body.

In the sewer, he opened his eyes and smiled. If conditions allowed, he would recite a poem.

"Searching for him thousands of times.

Suddenly turning, there he was, in the dim light."

Zhang Ping had planned to use Chen Weihua's connections to gather information on the Patrol Guard, hoping to deduce the location of the Tianchang Fox that killed Su Jingyao.

Who would've thought his consciousness transfer would lead him directly to the fox?

It was a stroke of luck.

Zhang Ping controlled his Pure Water Body, transforming into a fish-like shape, swiftly heading towards Mingzhu Hospital where Chen Weihua was.
