I no longer want to be a part of this triangle

Chapter 4- Dating

[Kazuki's POV:]

Kohana-chan wept for a long time. I brought her something to drink even though he shouldn't behave so familiar with the house.

It hurt me to see that I had caused her so much pain. I couldn't even imagine what would have happened if I had just got up and left in the morning. This girl lives alone and would have cried while being all alone...no one to hear her cries and console her.

'That hits home...' I couldn't help but dryly smile at that.

"Senpai...I dirtied your shirt..." She slowly parted her face from my chest and hesitantly uttered.

I didn't look at what she was pointing at and assured her, "Your condition is more important to be concerned about. Tell me, how are you feeling now?"

"I-I am okay.." She hesitantly muttered. Not okay.

I looked at the clock and realised it was already half past eight—making my eyes widen as I asked Kohana, "Don't you have to report at school? Today is the annual function."

I urged her but she shook her head and informed me of something which took me by surprise, "I actually...withdrew my name from all the events after I heard that Senpai is suspended."

I sat there; dumbfounded. I didn't know for a good half a minute, how to react to that information.

She...took her name out of such a big event for me?

"....why do you give me such importance?" I couldn't help but ask her. Wasn't she a teenager? Someone who got attracted to me because of my looks? Wasn't she supposed to just have vague feelings for me which should be slowly fading? Then why was showing such deeper emotions for me?

I was baffled and scared. Scared of knowing the true extent of her feelings for me...and scared of hurting her.

"Senpai, I have never been in a relationship before and never understood what this feeling is, which people call love...until I met you."

The way she clenched her fists and uttered that confession without stuttering, there was no doubt how truthful she was.

However, soon she shook her head and looked at me with a smile that made me feel pain in my chest as I heard her saying, "But you don't need to be worried, Senpai. I never expected my feelings to be reciprocated since I know how much you like Katori-senpai."

A self-mocking smile extended her lips as she lowered her gaze and continued, "Unlike her, I am not cute and clumsy. I am not very popular among my classmates. Heck, some of them don't even know my name. So it's okay to just ignore me, Senpai."

"..."

I sat there for a long time. We both were silent. I didn't know what she was thinking. And currently, I was too occupied with myself to think what she was going through.

Katori...huh. I like her, no? That sweet and clumsy girl who is very popular among her schoolmates. Someone whom I found the perfect match for me and thought only she could be my true lover.

But now that I think closely...wasn't I being superficial? Just because she is popular and cute, should I date her? I thought since she is of my 'level' she is the only one who can match me.

Haha...what a loser I am.

"Kohana-chan, look at me." Holding her face softly, I urged her to look at me.

Kohana's eyes were red with tears. I have never seen someone crying this much for me before. And it didn't feel good at all.

Softly wiping her tears, I asked, "You know about the rumours regarding me, right? That I sleep around with girls, smoke and drink often and even do drugs."

Looking into her eyes, I told her with all sincerity, "But it's all false. I have never touched drugs. I smoke and drink only when I am in a bad mood, which doesn't occur often...and about sleeping around...then yesterday was my first time..."

My confession seemed to have made a significant impact on her as she suddenly widened her eyes upon hearing the last bit of my words regarding my sex life.

Well, that was true. Although I am flirtatious and like to play around, that doesn't mean I am a man-w*o*e.

"But Senpai...you were so gentle and considerate last night..." Her response made my face a little hot as I dismissed that topic,

"Don't talk about that. I just went with my instincts." Seriously, this girl should hesitate when asking things like this.

"Senpai...you are blushing..." Her teasing tone made my eyes widen as I looked at the girl in surprise.

"Y-you...are making fun of me?"

"Me? No....! I will never...."

"See! You just smirked!" I complained while pointing at that thin grin she was just trying to suppress. Secretly, isn't this girl a bully?!

"No, no, Senpai. I am not trying to make fun of you. It's just a little surprising that my cool Senpai can also be flustered about something."

I grumbled, "So are you disappointed now?"

She shook her head and replied with a sweet smile, "It makes you look cute."

I crossed my arms and looked away while muttering under my breath, "And people call me flirtatious."

I heard her giggling but that didn't annoy me. Thankfully she was in a better mood now.

After a brief pause, I turned to look at her and asked in a slightly stiff voice, "So...tell me Kohana. What do you think about dating?"

"....huh?"

********

A/N:- You can't just switch topics like that! Let the girl be happy for a few minutes. Ugh.

Okay now, you got one sweet character, one tsundere character and one....annoying character. Let's see where this goes.
