I suddenly became the villain and I liked it

Pride of a noble

“What exactly do you want to happen?”

The 5 of them look at each other. It seems like they do not know who is supposed to speak. Eventually, the same girl spoke.

“We want to make her leave the prince alone.”

“How far are you willing to go?”

“Um, what do you mean?”

I look at my nails and caress them.

“Do you want to kill her?”

“Huh?”

All 5 of them looked surprised.

“It will be easy. A swift kill and then she is gone. So, are you asking me to kill her?”

This is a test. I want to know how far are they willing to go. Even if they wanted to kill her, I will not do it but it would be interesting if they are that determined.

“No, no, no, no, no. We just want her to not be so close to the prince, right?”

She asks the others and all of them nod towards her.

“How boring. So, why are you asking me? Why are you telling all of this to me?”

“Uh, you are the prince’s fiancé. So, won’t you help us in removing her from the prince?”

“But you do understand that even if you do remove her, the prince will still be with me. So, are you also going to get rid of me after that?”

I could see her sweat as she understood what I said.

“No, miss Eterna. Please don’t misunderstand. We wish to help you. We want to get rid of a pest disturbing the prince. We believe that you are the best one to stand beside him.”

The girl tries to persuade me. Nobles are inherently prideful creatures. They understand their positions and accept them but they abhor change. An ascended noble is looked down upon, a talented commoner is scorned, even if you are just lucky, they still bear ill will. Most nobles hate when someone below them achieves even something small. That is how most nobles are.

“Do you understand the meaning of your words?”

The prince is one of the rarer cases. He can set aside his pride for what he believes is right. He is what people would call heroic, honorable, and dignified. He embodies a disposition that would have both nobles and commoners to like him. He is fair, proper, and just. But even so, he still has his own pride. There is a line all nobles will not cross. A line that they will not willingly cross. Blackmailing or threats can force them to cross this but not by their own will. So, let me see how you react.

“If I accept your offer, you will be under me. And that means that I own you. Do you understand?”

I see confusion on their faces.

“Sylvia, Melanie, kneel.”

A simple order. An order that anyone can understand. Sylvia immediately kneels beside me. Melanie took a few minutes to understand and she rushed to kneel on my other side.

“This will be your fate. To be played with by my will.”

I put my hand on Sylvia’s chin and I raise it.

“I can accept you but can you accept this? If you are willing to be under me, I will help you.”

I slap Sylvia with the back of my hand as I hold Melanie’s chin and I raise it.

“I expect your obedience, your fealty, your destiny. What I choose is what you will want, what I decide is what you will want, what I want is what you will want.”

I slap Melanie with the back of my hand as both look on the ground to hide their faces. Ah, they understand quickly, good work.

“This will be your future. To be trampled upon, to be played with, to be used. So, do you accept?”

Nobles are prideful creatures but for the sake of profit, they can debase themselves. But what I offer has no profit, no advantages, and no benefit. My reputation is horrible, my conduct is bad, the only that that people can say positively about me is the fact that I still retain my position as the prince’s fiancé. That is the only benefit to me.

“We, uh, um.”

I can see hesitation on their eyes, fear on what I might do, despair on what is to come. There is an unspoken rule with nobles. You cannot defy those with higher standing. Nobles are vindictive, they remember offences. If you ignore an order from a higher noble, they will remember it and they will act on it if they have the chance. I place one foot each on top of Melanie and Sylvia’s heads.

“But lucky for you, I am feeling generous today. If you do not accept, I am willing to treat this conversation as it never happened.”

They smile in relief.

“I will also not hinder you in your activities. You are free to do as you wish.”

For now, at least. They spew some other rhetoric but I do not care so I do not bother to listen. After a while, all of them finally leave.

“You two can stand up now.”

“Understood, mistress.”

“Did you wash your shoes? Is the back of my head dirty?”

“Do not worry, Melanie. This is a new pair that I only wore for this conversation.”

“Okay. I was so surprised when I felt you stepping on my head. I almost stood up. Good thing Sylvia stopped me before I did. Although, why were you scary this time? It was the same as mine but it was just scary.”

“Because I was not interested.”

“Not interested?”

“Remember Melanie, I told you that since you were the first that you were an exception.

“Oh, right. I forgot you said that.”

“Yes. I have standards you see.”

“Standards?”

“Yes. I only accept beautiful people.”

“What? Wait, I’m beautiful?”

“Why, of course Melanie. I only choose to associate myself with those I deem beautiful and I only mess around with people that I deem beautiful.”

“Um, okay. Thank you.”

“Those girls were ugly, both inside and out. I no longer wish to discuss them, my reason for being here is done. Let us go.”

Even without my backing, those girls will not stop. They have determined Lyn to be inferior and so they will mess with her. Her relationship with the prince is not solid enough for him to be a proper deterrent. So, we watch for now. I do look forward to seeing Lyn’s face when those girls ruin her life. Ah, how exciting.
