I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 457

Chapter 457: Sacrificial Ritual

“Mr. President, we are receiving a call from the Prime Minister of Japan.”

Inside the Pentagon, a White House staff member walked quickly to the troubled head of state.

“The Prime Minister of Japan? What does he want from me? We’re busy right now, so just call back until the problem with Los Angeles is over.”

The President of the United States waved his hand impatiently.

Japan and the United States had shown each other respect in the past, but because of their interest, the United States of America had almost sacrificed Japan.

The United States which had been in control of Japan for many years possessed an arrogant disdain for this country due to WWII.

If not for the emergence of supernatural forces, Japan would still be the frontline base used by the United States of America to fight against China.

Unfortunately, due to the emergence of supernatural forces, the USA lost its control over Japan. In addition, due to their blunders, it had also lost its voice in the whole of East Asia.

But even so, the USA still did not put Japan in its eye. Japan still needed the USA, even if there was some form of cultural hostility, but as long as the Japanese government was not stupid, it would never have a fallout with the USA. The same reason went with China.

The staff went to return the call as the president requested, but he immediately returned to the president and said, “Mr. President, the Japanese Prime Minister said that he wanted to discuss Typhon’s preparations to destroy Los Angeles and that they have a solution.”

“They can solve it?”

The President of the USA was flabbergasted. He first thought that the Japanese Prime Minister was joking with him, thinking that the United States was helpless against this monster.

‘But then, what do you Japanese think you can do?’

However, the president suddenly remembered the report from ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ after the Tokyo incident. It stated that the Chinese old man was also accompanied by an ancient Japanese priest. It’s just that the priest did not actively participate compared to the Chinese old man, so the president had forgotten about it.

“Could it be that the Japanese Prime Minister is going to talk about something related to the priest?”

As someone who could become president, he was not stupid. A small amount of thinking was enough for him to make a guess about the general situation.

The USA had proved that Earth’s technology was not effective against Typhon. Japan’s military power was not superior to the United States. With the Japanese Prime Minister suggesting that they could solve this problem, it meant that they had a supernatural power on their side.

At this moment, the President of the United States felt happy but also pained. He was happy that this problem could be solved, as the United States could absolutely not lose Los Angeles.

He was in pain because Asia, particularly East Asia, seemed to be close to those supernatural forces. Unlike the West, where these supernatural forces hardly deal with the government.

The President could only blame it on cultural differences.

“Put the call through. I’ll talk to the Japanese Prime Minister personally.”

The president ordered his staff to pick up the phone as his expression turned into a pained one.

As a qualified businessman, the President of the United States certainly knew why the Japanese Prime Minister would choose this critical time to call him. It must be because he wanted to gain more benefits from the United States of America.

But as the president, he could not abandon Los Angles for the sake of a little interest and face, so he could only take the call unhappily.

Ten minutes later—

“These shitty Asian monkeys, they are taking advantage of the situation too much! They are simply playing with fire!”

The president, who was smiling and chatting peacefully with the Japanese Prime Minister for one moment, just slammed the table and roared after putting down the phone.

“Mr. President, please pay attention to your words. Your wording involves racial discrimination.”

The Secretary of State gave a timely reminder, causing the president’s face to turn red.

Although he had a good character and regarded ‘political correctness’ as nothing, there were still things that he did not dare touch, such as ‘democracy and freedom’ and ‘racial discrimination’.

“Mr. President, what did Japan demand?”

Hearing the question, the President of the United States took a deep breath and sighed helplessly, “These Asians… Well, these Japanese in order to show off their friendship with China, pulled China in to negotiate. They said that they would solve the problem of Typhon for us if we could let go of tariffs…”

The president of the USA looked extremely pained. He had a hard time in the past to gain an upper hand in the trade war. He had even tweeted about raising tariffs which caused the Chinese stock market to lose three trillion dollars. This was simply a big victory in his political career. He did not expect that before the fruits of his victory were savored, he would have to return them.

“President Truman and General Eisenhower should not have accepted Japan’s surrender. They should have wiped the country out completely!”

The president shouted angrily.

The dog that had been raised was barking at its master and even dared to bite him. How could he accept it?

But now, he had no choice but to do so. The three million residents of Los Angeles and the city itself had become a bargaining chip for Japan to put on the table.

What Typhon could not stop were the modern military satellites. This desperate situation that Los Angeles was in today was transparent in front of all the major governments. Japan had seized this moment to give its former master a smack in the face.

“That country can really not be trusted!”

The president concluded, but he could not help but hold back his anger as he was in no position to refuse.

“Although Japan said that they will help solve the crisis, we cannot completely rely on them. I now have a complete distrust of Japan… continue with the plan as usual. It would be good if Japan could solve this problem, but if they can’t, then we will have to rely on ourselves to solve it.”

The president waved his hand. As the leader of the country, he temporarily put aside his personal mood and put the interests of the country first.

“Yes, Sir!”

The entire Pentagon was once again busy.

……

In Japan’s Ise Grand Shrine, Princess Aiko, the daughter of the emperor, had already burned incense and cleansed herself. She changed into a Miko’s costume which was hurriedly ordered by the Imperial Family’s workshop. Then she stood in front of the shrine under the guidance of chief priest Abe, ready to start the ritual to Amaterasu Omikami.
