Infinity in the Void – Freedom in the Abyss

Heir of the Golden Throne

"So, Erin, do you still feel the burning sensation?", Vanessa asked.

Laying on the sofa is a beautiful brunette with golden eyes, glowing. She wears a white crop top, an open brown jacket, very tight jeans, and heels, an outfit that shows all of her curves. She was Erin Sandy, the Gem Holder of Ur-Nungal, Queen of Uruk.

"Yeah...", she weakly replied, "It's like something is missing in me... a deep... deep hollow feeling."

Noting some things down, Vanessa asked again, "So how has your relationship with Ur-Nungal gone?"

"She's still being a bitch... I'm still being a bitch... we hate each other equally. I can only use Forge of Abzu with limits, and I got her inferiority complex.", Erin spoke with a spaced-out tone, as if she was not even here.

"I see.", Vanessa nodded, "So have you taken up any hobby?"

Erin shook her head, "No... investigating the Sword of Surtr is harder than you think, it's pretty difficult to find a sword in Scandinavia. I was pretty stressed out, so I have been... sleeping."

"Did Ur-Nungal say anything out of the ordinary as of late?"

Again, Erin shook her head, "Just the same old shouting... trying to make me do more work than I already am..."

She reached her hand out to the ceiling, "Ur-Nungal's father, Gilgamesh, for her was a great king who did everything by himself. Because of her own pride, she doesn't allow herself to rest... which in turn, doesn't allow me to have the slightest bit of rest."

"I see, how about another painting?", Vanessa suggested.

"Hmm... can you still draw while drinking... that?", Erin pointed to the cup with green alcohol and the container used to let drops of cold water into the melting sugar cube.

Vanessa was making her favorite drink, or in this case, Van Gogh's favorite drink, Absinthe, the Green Fairy. The drink that was said to drive Van Gogh to insanity.

"It's not the same Absinthe I drank, Erin. The one that drove me to insanity... amongst the dozens of illnesses I had, was made differently. Plus, my power works better when I am drunk.", she stopped the container from dropping more water, the sugar cube had melted.

She took the cup and slowly drank the thing that made her insane, tasting the familiar flavor she knew.

"Aah... that hit the spot.", Vanessa smiled and got up from her seat, "I'll go grab my art supplies, so just rest for the time being."

With a long and deep breath, Erin closed her eyes.

But not even a minute later, she felt an aura of dread, making her jump from her position into a battle stance.

She waited for the door to open with an intense gaze. And when the door finally opened... Erin was hit with an intense shiver.

Azure blue eyes laid upon her, like a predator with Erin herself being the prey. Then someone she recognized came in, Athen.

"You can't barge in like you own the place!", Athen sighed, "Oh, Erin! Hello!"

"Athen!", she brighten up instantly, "Why are you here?"

"This little ball of energy here.", Athen tried to place her hand on Charlotte, but the girl dodged out of the way.

Charlotte blinked and looked at Athen, "That spot is for Pan."

"Pan?", Erin scowled, "Isn't that the name of the Records of Beast?"

Charlotte walked over and sat on the sofa, where Erin was, "We have a truce, I don't attack them and they don't attack me, actually."

She snapped her finger, and with a brief flash of lavender in her eyes, a cat appeared on her head, "This is Pan."

The cat hissed at Athen, then at Erin, but otherwise, it stayed on top of Charlotte.

"Uhhh... Ur-Nungal is telling me to kill it.", Erin pointed at the cat.

"It's useless.", Charlotte shook her head, "Pan is special, this Pan at least is more special than the giant chimeric Typhon. Every time an animal with something called the... Echidna Factor, the rest of the Pan creatures become more powerful."

"...How do you know all of this?", Erin squinted her eyes, suspicious of Charlotte.

"Oh, I looked at the information on Silla's computer. A seventy-two letters password, it was not that hard to crack because of who I am.", Charlotte smiled, which sent a shiver down Erin's spine.

There was something wrong with this kid, Erin could feel it to her core... no, not her's but the Devil inside of her, Ur-Nungal.

"My Devil is The Akashic Records, the Records of Humanity.", she introduced herself.

And then it hit Erin, no, Ur-Nungal mentally punched Erin in the face, as if hitting her with a damn mountain!

=0=0=

As if someone just punched her... I just introduced myself... another weird person.

Babel was supposed to be this super secret organization with tons of world-ending people, for example, Seria. But for the purpose of saving and protecting humanity, you can't be picky with your saviors.

We exist in the dark, for those in the light to go on.

When I become the Director, I will change that motto. It may sound cool, but a bit too depressing for me.

We walk in the dark, to lead those in the light.

That sounds cooler.

Oh, Erin tried to grab hold of me. But I dodged out of the way, so she ended up hugging Athen and pushed her onto the ground...

Oh my.

They ended up kissing each other, this is a bit comical. Two adult women kissing...

"Hehahaha.", I laughed, covering my mouth but making no effort to contain my laugh, "Hehahahaha! You two really make a good couple."

I'm not lying, Athen has this cold beauty look to her, pretty and thorny as a rose... if I have to link her to a trope, it would be Tsundere. And Erin, she seems to be the quiet type from the readings I got from Survive on her, and pretty awkward.

A hot-headed woman is being laid upon by a quiet woman.

—But the response I got was not as expected, Athen summoned a knife and slit her own throat, killing herself. Damn.

Language!

Yeah yeah, I know. No swearing.

"ATHEN!!", Erin yelled as a pool of blood covered the entire floor.

Then arms of blood grabbed hold of Athen's corpse and blanketed her in blood. Erin already stood up, and watched Athen being dragged down into the pool... no, portal of blood.

And after the process was done, I spoke, "So who will clean up the floor?", I looked at the pool of blood left by Athen.

"Not it.", Erin raised her hand.

"Not it.", another person said.

I looked back and saw Vanessa holding her paint supplies. Hah... so it must be me, huh.

"Reverie."

I let the black sludge of creation onto the ground, carefully removing the blood left by Athen... I think I know why Seria complained so much about Athen dying.

"Done."

And I retracted the Reverie sludge back into my body.

"Hello again, Charlotte.", Vanessa said as she got closer to me.

"Let me help...", Erin helped carry the painting supplies, setting them up.

I glanced up at Vanessa. Her messy ginger hair covered up her pure blue eyes, and her freckle face honestly made her more endearing...

"Vanessa...", I search for something to talk about... ah, that strange green skull-shaped alcohol bottle, "What is that?"

"Oh, Absinthe.", Vanessa meekly chuckled, "It's my favorite drink."

"Can I try?", I asked her.

"No.", she replied with an out-of-character stern expression, "It has 90% alcohol content, children shouldn't be drinking that."

"Okay.", I nodded. That is basically flavored alcohol.

"Let me...", she took hold of my hand, sending a wave of comfort coursing through my whole body, "...Your soul is still fractured, but you have a lot less grief than before... now all you have is... hatred for some people."

Hatred, huh Who do I even hate?

Romulus, your parents, the Macaque, the Princess? Maybe?, hm~ there is also—

It's a rhetorical question, Reverie.

"You are doing better than before, so keep it up, Charlotte.", Vanessa gave me a warm smile.

"Thank you...", I faltered under her kindness...

Artists are scary... the ability to manipulate emotions is something else. Not that I have any authority to criticize them, I can do that too with Euphoria.

"Um... I'm finished.", we both look to Erin, who just finished setting up the frame and canvas.

"Sorry, Charlotte.", Vanessa put a hand on my shoulder, "Erin is my patient for today. So you should go back and rest for the day."

I nodded in agreement, and then I turned my back to her.

Yet, before I could open the door, a hand grabbed me. I glanced at the owner of the hand, Erin.

"What?", I tilted my head.

"N-No... it's just that...", she closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, "Can we talk in private a bit later?"

"Hm, okay.", I nodded, "Come to my place after you are done."

"Thank you.", she nodded back.

And so, I opened the door and got out of Vanessa's office.

Grrr... I can't get used to looking at the paintings, they mess with my mind. Art is powerful, they contain the very soul of the artist, and if that artist is a Gem Holder... that ability just becomes more powerful.

I wonder if I can replicate their powers... but I already had with my voice, my Mockery. I can brainwash people if I want to but on a subconscious level... I made people view me in a better light, which might get me in trouble but I can chuck it up to a passive effect I have.

Getting on my bike, I looked into the sky... something was looking back at me from somewhere, far, far away.

"Chaos...", I whispered its name.

It is waking up.
