Infinity in the Void – Freedom in the Abyss

Operation: Magnum Opus – Result

Athen is coming, Rita is watching from afar, Enna is staying passively in the sky, Jack is missing... and I received an order.

To kill the Mother of Demons, Lilith. This seemed... like a domestic affair. Should I really interfere in this? I'm Seria's adopted daughter, and by extension, Lucifer's adopted daughter.

So Lilith would be my adopted mother.

Then again, I am currently on a mission. I have to complete the mission.

"I am... Charlotte Silvi, Owner of the Akashic Records."

Reverie evaporated from my body, turning into a blue mist around me. Then my emotions became colder and colder, until there was no emotion in my mind.

"Devils of the Void, They who embodied Infinity."

Blue circuit-like veins spread across the top part of my face as if it were a mask. My azure eyes glowed, focusing only on the hooded woman.

"You who represent Human's Survival, burning away the Hardship of Mankind."

I tread forward, sending pulses of hostility to make myself known. A demon came up to me, so I blasted its head with a Holy Bullet— shattering the creature.

"The Forever burning Torch of Instinct"

I killed five more demons with my handgun. Then I manifest three greatswords to impale more demons and swing around to shatter them.

"May The Flame shine Eternally."

I put my handgun back into its holster in my jacket. Then I slammed a demon down with the barrel of the Fallen Starlight.

"Anima Pactum - Akashic Survive."

The power of humanity's will to live, to fight back, to destroy everything stands in the way of our survival... and everyone here is stand in my way.

I bunkered down, using the demon beneath my gun as the stand, aiming straight at Lilith. She was fighting against Mitsuki. It is impossible for me to hit the Mother of Demons without hitting the Demon Slayer. But minimizing the damage is possible.

After all, Jesus Christ is here.

I took aim with Fallen Starlight's iron sight, then I channeled the Justice mist into the gun to make it glow a brilliant blue.

'This is our proof as humans, our independence from the arrogant rulers of the sky.'

'Born from our labors and unity.'

'Created from His final gift to mankind.'

'And He shall fall by that gift.'

Those were the memories of this weapon, the words of King Nimrod.

A dream that was never fulfilled, an ambition that led to ruin. But it did prove one thing.

God is afraid of humanity and our infinite potential. That was why humans spoke different languages, as told in the Old Testament. But even then, humanity still went and challenged gods, time and time again, even if it brought them a tragic end.

They are God Slayers, weapons designed to slay the gods.

The Bow of Heracles, the weapon Father used to end Tartarus, is soaked in Hydra Blood that brings indescribable pain and suffering to its foe.

The Gáe Bolg, the spear that can create a forest of blood thorns with the corpse and blood of its victim, to use the immortality of the gods against them.

And many more.

The Fallen Starlight is one of the first God Slayers, up there with Vessel of Utnapishtim.

The rifle had charged enough Justice mist... now... I feel the ancient mechanism with my enhanced senses, like blood in a human body, Justice flows through the God Slayer to where its 'Heart' resides - the chamber. The mist condensed into a bullet, a pure white one that seems like an error in the texture of the world.

The next moment when I pulled the trigger, the pure white bullet flew. There was no sound, only eight flying streaks of light going out of the barrel.

158.

One hundred and fifty-eight.

The number of demons that were killed by the streaks in an instant, weaving around every MAS operative and... ugh, the Sanctum of Steel.

All of the streaks gathered at one point, at Lilith with her back turned. Though she deflected two away with a parry and a block with her sword, one hitting close to the Philosopher Stone, one destroyed her blade, and the other six hit her right in the chest.

Her body began to glow a white light, her scream was incomprehensible. The battle seemingly stopped as everyone looked at the dying Lilith, staring in horror and awe.

Even if it seems like she is dying... she is not, Survive's alarms are still blaring. Lilith, the first woman before Eve, rejected the rules of Adam and was kicked out of Eden. The woman who became consort to Lucifer.

The Devil's wife must match her husband in trickery to be able to stand by his side.

I charged up Fallen Starlight again, drawing out time for Athen to make it here. Athen is our trump card, since her combat ability is on par with Seria. Seria would still win with Freedom.

While I was charging, some demons manifested from somewhere and tried to attack me. Of course, I could form Justice weapons but I need them to charge Fallen Starlight. With a bit of Justice mist, I formed a bayonet that I used to spin around to cut the newly formed demons. Easy.

"Mitsuki. Let me deal with her.", I approach them slowly, carefully.

The light finally dissipates to reveal Lilith... she looks very similar to Seria. Good, let's take some anger out on her. She has a rapier in her hand now instead of a longsword.

Mitsuki on the other hand, nodded and ran towards the Druid. Now, I came face to face with the Mother of Demons.

"Hello there, little lady. Quite the getup, don't you think?", she taunted.

But it would not affect me. With quick steps, I was in front of her already, swinging at her with a diagonal angle. She blocked with an upward guard while wearing a cocky smile.

That smile did not last long at all.

I powered through, breaking the gold rapier, and sunk my bayonet into her hood, her clothes, then, her left shoulder.

"H-How...", she was bewildered.

The barrel alone weighed 5 kilos, and the whole gun weighed almost 30 kilos. I won't explain that to her, but...

I let go of Fallen Starlight, letting Lilith feel the weight of the weapon designed to kill gods. She may not be a god, but the first human to become a demon to spite God. She reached for the hand of The Devil, becoming his beloved. Lucifer who tried to reach beyond divinity, was struck down. Through sheer technicality alone, this God Slayer would weigh her down heavily.

I pulled out my Holy Gun, pointing it at Lilith's head. And I fired a round through her head, killing her.

The demons around started to disappear too, seems easy enough—

Her supposed corpse disappeared... what?

"You are strong, Akasha."

—I picked up the Fallen Starlight, and swung it behind me. Lilith was there, nimbly dodged my attack... she looked just fine. All the current members of MAS are aiming their guns at her.

"You can't kill me.", her eyes moved to the position of Magnum Opus, she clasped her hands behind her back, "Though I must say, the mission is a failure."

"Fire!"

Under the command of Alpha-01, the MAS fired, riddling Lilith with holes, one after the other. 58 automatic rifles, one mag contained 26 bullets, one thousand five hundred and eight bullets in total. In the span of less than 30 seconds, she was reduced to a pile of blood and meat.

For good measure, I shot Fallen Starlight into the sky.

"To you, Mother of Demons. May your end be painful and fruitless like your life.", I gave her the words Seria wanted to give.

The eight streaks of light came down, crashing onto the pile of gore. Then, I pointed at the now glowing mess.

"Sin Counter."

Hundreds of crosses formed from the Justice mist, raining down upon the hole like a twisted imagination of a grave.

"That was very rude—", she appeared again, and coughed up blood before falling down to the ground.

"Sin Counter."

Hundreds of crosses crashed into her again.

She reformed her body— then she died again. Again, I activated my Sin Counter.

Survive's Anima Pactum is the simplest of all the Anima Pactums, it is just the ability to learn. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome, and Survive. Learn is a very wide word, simple yet powerful.

I noticed that Lilith will resurrect every time she dies, a form of immortality. So, Sin Counter is the solution. I am an unfair person, so I abused my powers to make every sin punishable by death.

Until the counter reset back to zero, she will experience death, over and over again. On top of that, Fallen Starlight had... well, it's hard to say what it did to Lilith since this rifle was originally meant to shoot God right in the face.

Though even being killed every time she revived herself, she found a way to open a portal to Hell in order to escape. So she took preservation over her subordinates.

Not that I care— oh, I forgot. There is still the Magnum Opus situ...a...tion....

What is happening over there?

Magnum Opus looks different, way too different. Two goat horns, a blood-red fur coat around its neck, some part of it was covered by ruby red scales. In its hand is... a heart, the Druid's heart.

!!!!

It stared at me with such pure red eyes... this... this familiar feeling.

A raven landed beside me, "Hello, Charlotte."

"Pan.", I called it's name.

"Do you like our gift?", a rat crawled next to me.

"You love fighting.", a canary chirped.

"Don't you?"

"Charlotte."

"Happy Birthday."

"Happy."

"Birthday."

"Charlotte."

"We are enemies."

"Charlotte."

"We are rivals."

"Fight."

"Fight."

"This is fun."

"Charlotte."

"Our game will not end simply."

"Shar aimed for us."

"Chaos is awakening."

"Truce."

"Until only us"

"Remain."

"Charlotte."

"Charlotte."

"Charlotte."

"See you again."

The animals that had gathered went their separate ways. I can only stare at Magnum Opus as it leaves, not one person move a muscle because, on an instinctual level, they know they cannot compare to it now.

"See you again, Pan... no.", I smiled as I dispel my Anima Pactum, "I will give you a new name... Charles. Please accept that."

Magnum Opus stared at me for a second, then they nodded. The next moment they disappeared in thin air.

Charles, taken from Charles Darwin, the Father of the Theory of Evolution. I think that fits them.

Now, another problem.

"Charl...", Mitsuki stared back at me, "Explain yourself."

Oh, she witnessed our exchange. She now sees me as a threat, probably because of how nonchalantly I was talking to Charles, and maybe because of the sudden appearance of hundreds of critters.

The communication device in my ear rang. I answered it.

[This is Jack. We are retreating. The mission was deemed a failure, Illuminati Corp is now hostile to Mu.]

I see.

"Hmm... this is hard to explain...", I release a wave of killing intent, making everyone around point their guns towards me, my voice chilled with no emotion, "I am your enemy now."

Huh, I should take this chance to be more... chunni? I think that's the word, I came to Mu for fun, after all, might as well make something out of this situation.

"My True Designation is Constantine. Gem Holder of Malice, Humanity's Rage and Evil.", I let the mask reform into a gas mask, now showing my crimson red eyes filled with Malice, "Current Objective: Escape."

"Fire!", finally Alpha-01 said those words.

"I will give you fire.", I said some cool words, "Malice."

Yes, My Lady.

A wall of all-consuming black flame spins around me, with my target being ammunition. Hehahaha...

"You can think of my existence as a mere... Delusion."

"Oh, I'm a boy by the way. I just like to crossdress."

With that, I was gone. I went to where Rita was.... sitting with a bunch of knocked-out people. This seemed like there was no fight, just a lot of accidents.

He was sitting on the railing, facing me. I like his eyes, they are mystical to some degree with the X crosses over his irises, with his plained appearance they do pop out.

"So, Cor—", I put my index finger to shut him up.

"Charlotte Silvi, that is my real name.", I removed the mask completely, showing him my bright smile, "Call me Charlotte, please."

"Of course, Charlotte.", he smiled back, taking my hand in a delicate manner, " My real name is Theodore Aubrine. I hope we will meet again after."

He gave me a kiss on my hand, like a gentleman to a lady. I like it.
