Book 6: Chapter 42:2: Close the Gates, Unleash the Black Hole! Part 2

Megumin’s explosion magic packed a punch, but it drained her mana significantly. At her current level, she could cast it only once a day and would need a full day to recover. Barring exceptional circumstances, if she used it once, she couldn’t use it again that day.

“As expected of a lich, much stronger than me…. I can’t accept this….” Megumin could tell her explosion magic was slightly weaker than Wiz’s. Of course, just slightly.

Little lady, don’t aim too high. Wiz is no simple character, even though she looks soft and weak.

Wiz was once the leader of the strongest adventurer team. Although she was not a Crimson Demon, she grasped all sorts of magic, which earned her the title of arch wizard.

In the anime, people nicknamed her the Ice Witch for her ruthless nature, especially when dealing with pleading enemies from the Devil King’s forces.

Comparatively, while Megumin was quite a genius in explosion magic, she was still slightly weaker than Wiz.

“Well done. You did a great job.”

Although Kazuma knew defeating the Destroyer was just the beginning, he comforted the exhausted Megumin after she had done her best.

“Alright. Let’s head back and celebrate with drinks! How much is our reward?” Although Satou Kazuma knew what would happen, the others in his team did not, especially that idiot goddess Aqua. Right now, she only thought about the reward and drinking, immediately raising a flag.

Just as the adventurers at the city gates cheered, a red light flashed in the Destroyer’s mechanical eyes.

“Due to severe damage, the self-destruct sequence has been initiated. All personnel should evacuate immediately.”

“Is this for real?!” Although Satou Kazuma knew the large robot would self-destruct, he had not informed anyone about this, as no one would have believed him. Doing so might even bring trouble to him. Thus, the cheering adventurers were stupefied.

What if those people questioned Satou Kazuma about how he knew? What should he do?

What if Chen Heng perfectly dealt with the Coronatite and Satou Kazuma got convicted of treason because of this? Wouldn’t that be a tremendous loss?

“Self-destruct initiated! Self-destruct initiated!”

“No way!”

“It’s over!”

“How is this possible?!”

“Run quickly!”

When the adventurers at the city wall heard “self-destruct,” they roughly understood what would happen and started fleeing in panic.

The adventurers could not be blamed for fearing death. After all, this was the newbie village, and the adventurers there were mostly low-level.

“Kazuma, tell your companion standing in front of the Destroyer to move away quickly. I’m going to unleash a big move.”

Chen Heng saw it was about time for him to take action, so he warned Satou Kazuma, who was carrying Megumin.

“Unleash-unleash a big move?”

“That’s right. To ensure no one notices me taking the Coronatite, I have to unleash a powerful move that will obliterate the Destroyer, such that not even ashes remain. This way, its disappearance will remain a secret.” Chen Heng found nothing wrong with his way of thinking.

“…Got it. I’ll go now.” After Satou Kazuma heard Chen Heng’s explanation, he scampered down the tower and rushed toward the steadfast Darkness standing in front of the Destroyer.

“Darkness, evacuate now!” Satou Kazuma ran to Darkness’s position while carrying Megumin and urged Darkness to flee.

“I will not evacuate until the very end. A crusader will not flee before her people!”

“Darkness…” Satou Kazuma wanted to explain to Darkness that the current situation was not to escape the blast radius but to flee from the powerful move from his side. However, before he could finish…

“Furthermore, imagine experiencing a blast powerful enough to level a city! The thrill! Can I survive? No defense could possibly protect me entirely, so I can’t survive unscathed, right? I can’t resist any longer, Kazuma. I’m charging in!” Darkness’s face filled with an almost insane eagerness, and an odd flush spread across her cheeks.

With the Destroyer right in front of her, she was itching for a confrontation.

“…” Satou Kazuma had initially been slightly touched, but his expression immediately changed. He was too naive for being moved by someone like this.

“Hah…looks like I have to do something myself after all,” Chen Heng sighed as he watched the commotion on Satou Kazuma’s side.

As Darkness was about to charge forward, she rose into the air and quickly flew toward the city wall.

Satou Kazuma understood that this was his big brother’s doing. Then he dashed toward the city wall.

Since Big Brother took action, it means he is ready to unleash his big move. I don’t want to die from friendly fire. Dying like that would be too stupid.

“Hey! Hey! Hey! Don’t! Let me go over…” Despair filled the face of Darkness, who was flying increasingly farther away from the Destroyer.

Right after Satou Kazuma left the scene, Chen Heng unleashed his big move.

A small black dot suddenly appeared above the Destroyer. When the adventurers paying attention to the Destroyer and those with good vision noticed this black dot, they thought they had misseen. After they rubbed their eyes, they discovered that the black dot was growing.

At first, that small black dot was extremely minuscule. However, after three to four seconds, it quickly swelled into a black hole about ten meters wide and was still growing.

Furthermore, a startling suction came from the black hole, pulling everything in the surroundings inside. At first, small items like the wooden barriers the adventurers put up or rocks were drawn into the black hole. After the black hole consumed them, it looked unchanged but then sucked in even larger things.

The fleeing adventurers raced even faster toward the city walls after seeing this. They didn’t know what the phenomenon was, but their instincts screamed danger.

When the black hole had expanded to about 20 meters in diameter, its growth paused, but its pull didn’t, intensifying. Some of the slower adventurers felt its pull, but luckily, they were far enough to escape its grasp. Thankfully, this wasn’t a real black hole. Otherwise…

Nevertheless, this black hole’s area of effect extended beyond the immediate vicinity of the Destroyer. Like real black holes, it seemed to want to consume everything around it.

All the adventurers finally made it inside the city walls and hastily shut the gates behind them. Only then did the suction on them cease.

However, those who had been enjoying the view from atop the walls found themselves tugged toward the menacing hole.

Many began floating and clung desperately to the parapets to avoid being sucked in.
