Marigold – A LitRPG

Chapter 21: New Creations

The workers now are making the wax bricks, and I must admit, they look professional! Steve, Ken and Carl went out to bring materials like honey and pollen to make the hard wax, then Levi, matt and miles ate whatever their brothers brought and started spitting out balls of hard wax that they soon shaped into the desired shape that they put aside to use later, after about an hour we already had so many wax bricks that it looked like we could even pave the floor of our house!

"All right boys! This amount of bricks is already good, now observe what I want you all to do."

After getting everyone's attention I picked some wax blocks and filled my chest with honey and pollen to create some hard wax, then I flew to the entrance accompanied by all the workers who were looking closely and started to put some hard wax on the bricks and then attached them to the wall, I did this with about five bricks until I had a small piece of very stable wall.

"That's what I want you to do, raise a wall with these bricks leaving an entrance that will serve as a door, and then create a small platform in front of the door to help with the landing, you don't need to cover the entire wall with wax, just sticking a brick on the other will be enough for now."

"All right Mom!"

"T-That's amazing mom!"

"I don't understand it yet..."

The boys had their differences and fought with each other sometimes, but when it came to work everyone worked as a team, Steve led everyone and divided the functions according to the strengths of each one, he left with ken and Carl, because he knew that even though Ken liked to play a lot he would take the work very seriously, and Carl even being very... "unmotivated", he would work with agility while being watched by Ken, while Steve himself was hardworking and very serious, looking like a secretary, and about Levi and the trouble make duo, Levi took all the work with wax very seriously, but was very shy and easily intimidated, so that's why he was left behind along with Matt and Miles, the two would be too busy competing with each other to pick a fight with Levi.

The guys were efficient, I had to admit, so much so that in just a few hours the work with the entrance was over, and honestly? These guys make me look like an idiot when it comes to molding wax, all the bricks are aligned and firmly fixed, the whole structure looks very much like the entrance of a brick house that is fixed in a tree, with all this work the group responsible for making honey and bringing the raw materials for wax reached Level 4 of [Create Honey], while the group responsible for making the wax arrived at Level 3 of [Wax making] after so much wax with the honorable mansion for Levi who got Level 4.

"Good job all of you! The entry is much better than the previous one!"

"For sure!"

"I liked it too..."

"He did a lot of work!"

These boys seemed to be leveling up their skills like a lightning, is still their first day of life but everyone already had at least 1 skill at Level 3, while it took me days to achieve the same feat, but maybe it's the same story as how Hans leveled up on the first day of life, these guys worked like crazy to achieve these levels, while I only did some things here and there when it was absolutely necessary.

"Now, let's make one last lot of honey and rest, I still need to make some honey crystals for Hans, but after that you can rest well!"

"No problem mom!"

"I-I don't really like the feeling of making honey, but if we need it's alright.."

"Stop complaining it's not even that bad!"

"It's about time to stop and eat."

"Come on boys, it won't take anything, and Hans will soon be back, he will need a lot of food to satisfy his needs."

In a short time we were able to fill the honey tank again, this time it had a higher quality than before, and I think it would be a good idea to start creating honey tanks in larger quantities, so we wouldn't need to make honey every day and we would have a reservoir for rainy days or when it is too hot to work.

[Warning]

You are now at Level 3!

[Warning]

Hans had evolved into the Lv 4

Levels, levels and levels, I still can't say that I feel any different as I level up, but when I get to the max level I may get something out of it.

After helping the boys fill the honey tank I started creating honey crystals and asked the boys to keep filling the tank until we had a satisfactory number of honey crystals, after about 2 hours filling the tank and another 1 hour just creating the crystals, now the day was coming to an end and I had a full tank of honey and about 80 honey crystals for everyone to eat, and at the end of the day all the workers were with [Create honey] at least at Level 2

When all the workers were eating happily and talking to each other i suddenly hear the buzz of Hans wings and soon he enters through the new entrance and heads straight for the food after a quick greeting made to me.

"Hey Hans! Look at all that food! We did it! it isn't tasty as the honey that Mom Makes, but it still pays off!"

"Brother, Are you hurt?.."

"He's right, look at his arm!"

"That was nothing, it's just a superficial cut because I didn't take my opponent seriously, no need to worry."

"Not worrying is my butt! The slightest scratch can turn in your doom if not handled properly! Let me take care of it!"

I hadn't noticed Hans injuries but the workers managed to notice them so quickly that they gave Hans no opportunity to argue with them, soon everyone was surrounding Hans while Ken started his... "Treatment" which was very strange by the way, first he licked all the dirt that was on the wound and then swallowed some honey and started chewing, after a while he spat out a yellowish wax-like substance, but the amount was too small for the amount of honey he had consumed, and began to wrap Hans arm with the mysterious substance, soon as the liquid came into contact with Hans chitin armor it began to harden and soon Hans looked good as new.

"Ready! Now make sure you don't get hurt."

"Ohh, it turned out really good Ken, I don't think I can create such a good bandage..."

"Hump! It wasn't even a big deal! You guys are just incompetent!"

"It's very good Ken, thank you very much, I will try my best not to hurt myself again."

"Stop it, it was nothing! I just did my job, but if you want to reward me, why don't you tell us who is to fight other creatures!"

"I also wanted to know, it seems so dangerous, and you do it every day like it's nothing..."

"It's because Hans is super strong!"

As the workes and Hans acted as what Ken had just done was the simplest thing in the world I was genuinely impressed! Could he make this "ointment" because of the skill [Nursering]? Bees have this kind of treatament?! I don't remember reading nothing about bee taking care of they injuried ones. The skill's description never mentioned that he could create a substrate dedicated to medicinal purposes, and I was sure after looking at it, that this wasn't simply [Wax making], it was a totally different substance that seemed to have a high cost but high benefits, what Ken said about small scratches turning into large injuries was true, so I was glad Ken prioritized the treatment, but I was also dumbfounded at how easily Ken handled the situation.

And all this bond that the workers had with Hans...

I felt isolated, Hans was socializing with the workers while I stood quietly in a corner quietly eating some honey, it felt a lot like my old life, like when people talked to each other and shared their stories and I was ignored and left out, but when I stop to think about it...

Was it my choice? I could just get into the conversation with the workers and Hans, just as I could have tried to talk to people in my previous life instead of waiting for them to talk to me, but i just stood there and watched Hans and the boys bond while I was left out.

"Well, it's not like I fight with everything that moves, first I analize if the creature I'm going to fight looks weaker than me, then I see if it's alone or not, and I only attack if I'm absolutely sure of my victory, and I retreat whenever something unexpected occurs."

"Wow, it seems very complicated, isn't it a lot of work just for you?"

"Well, it's laborious, but until we have more soldiers I need to fight safely and conservatively..."

"Hey Mom! When are you going to make more soldiers? Hans seems to be very overloaded..."

"Me? Is that.. You know.. I think soon?"

"Hans already consumes a lot of resources on his own, so before making more soldiers I wanted to know how much food you guys could produce on your own, but I think taking into account the fact that you can fill an average tank in just a few hours, we can afford 2 or 3 more soldiers to help Hans..."

"Really?!"

"Y-Yes Hans, we would only need to create new jars for the eggs and create a larger tank of food to satisfy the hungry larvae."

"We can do all this tomorrow!, right? In a day's work, no, less than that! In a morning I think we could do everything you need mom!"

Me and my mouth, now I remember why I didn't get into conversations with other people, I always ended up promising to do something I didn't want to do.

The other day I wanted to go back to my experiments with the fire Rose, but I still needed to find more tools, vases and ingredients, I would also like to build a structure around the Rose but the fact that all my building materials melted in the fire didn't help, I could try to cover the whole rose with mud to make a stove, but I think burying the whole rose in the ground would end up killing the flower, so when Hans went out again for another day of leveling up, the workers started to create a bigger tank and new jars for the larvae, I tried to argue that the jugs I created weren't that bad but Ken who seemed to be the care expert steadfastly refused to create the jugs in same way I always hade made.

"Breeding units can't be made in any way mom! The larvae units need to be firm and reusable to maximize efficiency! With no offense, but these jars you created can break very easily, which is very dangerous for the defenseless larvae, and even worse for when they are metamorphosing!"

What does he mean by "not wanting to offend"? Of course it offended me! He just said that my job sucks, and that he can do better! But I think he's right, sometimes the best option is to swallow your pride and let the experts work.

"All right Ken, if you're confident you can create these "Breeding units" go ahead, I'm not a professional on the subject but I think you can achieve something better."

"Thank you mom! I will not disappoint!"

I was wondering how Ken was so sure what was the best way to create these bee apartments, I didn't know anything about it, but I'm also sure I've read about bees all the time I worked in the library, it seems that just like Hans, Ken and the others were using knowledge that I didn't even have memories of, if I were to try to explain it would be something like me having a whole library of books in my head, I didn't know exactly every knowledge that was in that library but they were all there, and when my bees hatched they would briefly go through this library and take all the knowledge they could, some would take more than others and take things I didn't even know I had, but everything these guys knew came from me.

While the boys were working on their projects I thought I'd go out and get more ingredients for my experiments, now that I had the workers I could even create a place dedicated to stocking all my crazy ingredients.

"Mom Where Are you going?"

"Oh, I'll go after some ingredients to do my experiments later."

"That looks cool! Can I come along?"

"This is not fair if Matt will go, i also want to go!"

"You just want to get away from work!"

"And what are you doing then?!"

"Boys! Stop fighting, you can come with me, but no fighting!"

"Ok!"

After leaving and leting the rest of the staff to finish the work, we flew to a part of the valley full of trees , roots and fungi to start my harvest, I had brought a hollow nut that I would use as a backpack to carry more resources and soon I started filling it with Moss, dried sap and pieces of mushrooms from the Valley.

"Mom, what should we do?"

"Oh, well just try to take ingredients that seem rare or unique, then just take them home and try to put as much together as you can."

"Oh, so anything goes? Like Earth or branches?"

"No.. dirt might do, but I don't have much use for branches, so try to find things like leaves, plants and bits of roots."

"it doesn't seem so fun right now... Is it just garbage collection or what?"

"How about this, whoever can find the rarest and most unique ingredient wins one... one.. Super large honey crystal made with the best honey I can make?"

"That sounds fun!"

"But how are you going to know who found the best ingredient?"

"I can just analyze and see which one is the rarest"

"So that's it! What do you think, Miles!? Are you ready to lose?!"

"Go dreaming that I'm going to lose to someone as dumb as you Matt!"

"Boys don't go far! The forest is dangerous even for Hans, so be careful!"

"All right!~"

When the boys left motivated in search of the ingredients I started to gather everything I could of new ingredients, and when my "Bag" get full I would come home and throw everything in a corner and come back in search of more unique materials, during my laps I could see the Twins bringing different things like balls of colored earth, strange nuts, colored seeds and even things that seemed to be small pieces of bones or teeth!

When the boys finished work on the new honey tank and the nurseries, I decided it was time to stop and pulled up the link I had with matt and miles, after a while they came back each carrying a different thing, Miles was carrying what appeared to be a small fruit of metalic appearance, and Matt was carrying what appeared to be a black stone.

"Mom! I won!?"

"Stop being an idiot! I'm the one who won, it's not true mom!?"

"Wait! Let me at least evaluate the results!"

[Description]

[Ruby cherry]

A cherry capable of restoring 1 mana if consumed

Quality: Great

[Description]

[Charcoal]

A coal stone resulting from the burning of wood.

Quality: Good

Well, I think Ruby Cherry wins from a lump of coal... Wait... Coal? How do you have charcoal here? Someone burned? Or was it the result of an forest fire?

"Matt, Where Did you find this coal?!"

"That Stone? I found it in a circle of stones and ashes!"

Shit!

A bonfire? Or something else? There people around? What did that mean to me? Maybe they don't even care about me, but maybe they try to kill me! But maybe they are not even around anymore, maybe this bonfire is just an abandoned camp of some scouts or survivalists? I don't think I have much to do but wait and see if this place is a common traffic route, or a place where only crazy people pass by, i need to forbid everyone to come near this extinguished bonfire, otherwi-

"Mom! Who won?!"

"It's-it's hard to say... How about a draw?"

"No!"

"No!"

These boys don't give me a peace of mind, on one hand the cherry that Miles brought is much more special than coal, but Matt made a very important discovery, but the competition was to find the best ingredient, so Miles? While Matt's charcoal may be a much more versatile and useful ingredient than that cherry, so who won?!

"Miles... You won, Matt's charcoal can be very useful, but since the competition was for the "Rarest" ingredient you won."

"That's it! Take that Matt!"

"AH! Oh, Shut up! You just got lucky!"

After leaving the boys fighting, I turned to analyze the work with the honey tank and the nurseries. The tank from before had been removed and in his place now have about 9 traditional honeycombs, these were the nurseries that Ken had created, and they looked like the ordinary work of a bee, each unit being a hexagon stuck to the other, and right behind the maternity there was a large honey tank that went from one wall to the other.

"The work was incredible guys! But why did you guys make so many wax Combs?"

"Well, I thought it would be nice to make some extra ones if we needed them and I also wanted to use them to store honey, but then Carl said it was much easier to just make a biger tank to store all the honey instead of creating several small units."

"All right.. We can work with this, I will create 3.. 4 soldier eggs, and then if we need more help later, we can create more of them."

"All right then!"

With the approval of the workers I began to focus on the ability to create eggs to create more soldiers, and after imagining some strong and large soldiers i felt the familiar pressure in my abdomen and soon four white eggs came out and fell to the ground.
