MHA: Fear the Nurarihyon

Chapter 1 – I Remembered my Past

Fear was one of greatest emotions to ever exist. It had existed for as long as there was sentient life, and it would continue to exist long after all life ceased to be. Fear was a driving force behind all beings, no matter how small or insignificant they might seem.

I, for once, was scared of death. Everyone was, but I was no longer sure how to feel about my own.

In a universe of infinite possibilities, I had found myself in a predicament that I didn’t quite know how to handle.

Being reborn as a baby wasn’t an everyday occurrence, especially not as a sentient being trapped in the body of a small child. It was frustrating and disorienting to say the least. Or just a reincarnation and transmigration in general was pretty strange in itself. Even if I wasn't transmigrated as a baby.

The worst part was that I was still scared of death.

Why?

"Okay, everyone. This is the last day of your high school. I heard some students are going to UA University this year. Make sure you put your all into it!"

I didn’t even notice my teacher giving his closing speech. I was too busy reflecting on my fear.

Throughout my life, I thought I wouldn't have any regrets. I had lived a long and fulfilling life. However, in this new world I found myself in, I had unanswered questions. Questions that would haunt me for the rest of my days.

'Should I apply to UA or not? Surprisingly, it's university here? I think I am in a different world than the anime. Alternate universe, maybe?'

Realizing I was in an anime world, My Hero Academia, when I regained my memories just a day ago, the first thing I did was to bash my head against the wall, which explained the wound on my forehead.

Why did I do that? Because I was so lazy. Lazy enough that I didn't even train my cool power that resembled a character from my favorite anime, Nurarihyon no Mago.

As a result, my body was weak and my quirk was untrained. I still had a few months before University started, but still...

"I could've gotten way stronger if I started years ago."

Walking out of the school, I sighed and ruffled my long black hair. The people around me were starting to walk away from the school grounds, most of them smiling and talking excitedly to each other.

I, on the other hand, couldn’t bring myself to get too excited. I knew Japan's fate in a year. Destruction and villains at every turn. It made me shiver but also excited.

As a manga reader, I knew how terrifying the villains were. They were ruthless, cruel, and without mercy. Seeing them in action would be horrifying, and being a child wouldn’t save me from their wrath.

'And I just remembered my memories after all of the scheme behind the scenes happened. Just great. I don't even want to curse.'

However, I decided not to mull over it. After all, there was no use in worrying about it.

So, I sighed and followed the crowd down the street. My destination was the beach where I hoped to find something to train with.

The place was a mess and looked like a dump. There was trash everywhere. It reminded me of my childhood where we used to go to the beach and collect seashells.

Among the heap of trash, I saw two people. One was a boy wearing a dirty green jumpsuit. His face was full of freckles and he had curly green hair. He was lifting some large object, but I couldn't tell what it was.

The other was a thin blond-haired guy sitting on the side. He seemed to instruct the others on how to lift the object.

I approached them and asked casually.

"What are you doing?"

"Eh?" The green-haired boy sounded surprised. His eyes were swimming around as he dropped the metal microwave in his hand. "N-N-Nothing at all. I mean, we're just cleaning this place up."

"You don't have to be scared." I chuckled, holding my hand out to him. "I won't hurt you."

When I said that, he, Izuku Midoriya, looked relieved and sighed. He looked at me and seemed to notice something.

"K-Kuro Saiki, right? From class 3-3?"

"Yeah, I'm Kuro. Nice to meet you, Midoriya. Who's your friend?"

"Oh, um..." Midoriya pointed at the blonde guy next to him. "He's my teacher. His name is Yagi-san. We're cleaning up this beach so I can get into shape."

I looked at Yagi-san. Yagi Toshinori, a lanky man with bright yellow hair and blue eyes. The number one hero, All Might himself.

He must be training Midoriya to use his power in the future. It made sense since Midoriya had bad, or even the worst physical fitness from what I could see.

"S-Saiki-kun, w-what are you doing here?"

Midoriya asked me while we sat down to take a break.

"Oh, I'm just looking for things to train with. This place looks like a junkyard, so I figured there would be something here."

"Training?" Yagi-san spoke up. "What for?"

"I'm planning to apply for UA. But I didn't train my quirk before, so I need to get stronger."

"Aah, I see. Young Man, you look like you don't have a lot of strength. What kind of quirk do you have?"

'Hmm, should I show them?'

While I hated the manga's ending, it wasn't like they could do anything about it. Both All Might and Midoriya were just people living in this world. They weren't even aware of the future events that were going to happen.

Besides, even though I had a lot of negative emotions, I still wanted to enjoy this new world. There was nothing to be done about the fate of this world, so why not be their friends and enjoy some kind of perk of being protected by the main character?

After thinking for a while, I activated my quirk. Black clouds appeared from every pores of my body. My presence, which was thin to begin with, began to expand and filled the entire space. Spreading thinner and thinner until I couldn't be seen or felt anymore.

The eyes of the two widened in surprise and awe.

"He disappears!" Midoriya exclaimed loudly. "Amazing! What kind of quirk is that?"
