MHA: Fear the Nurarihyon

Chapter 3 – Fighting Club

After returning home to change my clothes and get a wooden sword that was wrapped in a golf bag, I left the house and went straight to the crime scene. I had no parents and lived through the government's help, so no one was stopping me from staying late.

It was a place where young people gathered to watch fights. There were usually illegal fights between people with quirks. It was a form of entertainment and gambling for people with little money.

I just stumbled upon it on the internet when I was browsing something. Now that I remembered the address, I would definitely go there to train.

When I arrived at the building, I could hear the loud cheering of people and the sound of people hitting each other. The underground basement was full of smoke and the smell of sweat and alcohol filled the air.

I walked down the stairs and entered the large room. The walls were painted in red and black and the lights were dimmed.

Many people were sitting on chairs and watching the fight in the cage. There were two men fighting each other using their quirks. One had a water-based quirk, while the other had a fire quirk.

It was an interesting battle, but I wasn't interested in that. Instead, I began to walk around the room with my quirk activated. Black smoke surrounded me and no one appeared to be interested in me.

What I wanted to find here was the place where I could register for a fight. I was slightly worried that UA wouldn't accept me if I got a problem here.

But once again, they accepted Bakugou after all the troubles he made. The school also accepted Izuku when he fought a villain while trying to save his childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugou.

Of course, it was their attitude and not their quirk that made them have that privilege. I wouldn't know what the school's criteria was, but if they accepted those two, then there was no problem for me to enter this fight.

When I arrived at the table, I turned my quirk off and called out to the person sitting there.

"Excuse me, sir! Can I register for a fight?"

"Who the hell are you?" The man at the table asked rudely.

He certainly didn't expect a teenager to join the fight. One that didn't look like coming from this area.

But I maintained my smile as I rested my gold bag on my shoulder.

"Just call me Nurarihyon. I heard you got paid in this fight, so I'm interested in participating."

The man looked at me up and down before chuckling.

"You don't look like a fighter, kid. You want some pocket money?"

"Hey, why not?" Someone else interrupted the man. "If he wants to join, let him join. We get money, he gets money if he wins. Everyone is happy. Hahahaha!"

I turned to the voice and saw a large man with a tattoo on his neck. He had a rough appearance, but I knew he was the one in charge.

"Yes, that's right. I also know the risk and won't complain. Naturally, I won't report this place to Heroes either."

A threat hidden beneath my words didn't escape the tattooed man's notice. He looked at me with an amused expression before laughing out loud.

"You're bold, kid! Come on, sit down and we'll get you registered. What quirk do you have?"

"You'll see, Boss." I grinned. "I can disappear from someone's sight for a while. Of course, I can target only a certain person, so people will still be able to watch me fight."

"I like you. Nurarihyon, is it? Using a youkai name as your fighter name." He laughed, "Your opponent will be a newbie with a mutation quirk. He has a strength equal to a bear. Heck, even his hands are bear hands. Will you be able to handle it?"

"I should be fine." I nodded at him and looked at the blackboard with pools on it, "If I win, I would get 50% of the profit from the gambling, right?"

"Right! So let's start!"

And so, I was officially registered and became a fighter in this underground ring.

I didn't come here to make a lot of money. It was just a bonus to pay for my daily life. I waited for my turn while watching the fight.

Before long, the man behind the table approached me.

"It's your turn." He said while waving me over. "Good luck."

I grinned and followed him to the cage.

My opponent was already waiting for me. He had a bear head and his hands were like bear claws. His clothes were torn and blood was splattered on his body from his previous fights.

"Now, we have two new contestants! Raging Bear and Nurarihyon!"

As I entered the cage, I heard a shout from the tattooed man.

"Without further ado... 3... 2... 1... Start!"

I instantly activated my quirk and disappeared from his sight.

"Where is he?" The man with a bear head looked around in confusion. "He's not here?"

I walked around the cage and took out my wooden sword. There was no tension in my step. But I only had this one chance to make a surprise attack. One time, I had to make sure he was scared of me. That way, my quirk ability would be amplified and he would be unable to see me even if he looked.

The fight started, and the man with a bear head began to trash around.

"SHOW YOURSELF!" He roared and swiped his large arms everywhere.

I smirked as I dodged him with ease. His eyes darted around. He began to panic.

Maybe it was my luck having someone like him as my first opponent.

At the last minute, I showed up behind him and stabbed him in the back with my wooden sword.

"Guhh!" He screamed in pain and fell to the ground. "YOU CHEATER!"

"It's my quirk, dude." I smirked and pushed him down with my foot. "It's not like you didn't have one. Now, imagine. I will keep beating you up like this until you are scared enough to not come back anymore."

His face turned pale at my words. He shivered and backed away from me in fear.

Somehow, I felt power coursing through my veins. It was strange but satisfying at the same time. I thought I would have more trouble with this, but it was easier than expected.

I grinned as I disappeared once again. My Fear spread around the caged arena, making fog rise from the ground. A youkai had arrived. As if announcing that, the atmosphere suddenly changed. It was like everyone's attention was drawn to me, even though they couldn't see me.

People were getting nervous and couldn't take their eyes off me. No one dared to make a sound or even speak.
