My Adopted Family

60. I Made Breakfast for Cali

In the end, I spent the entire night at that house.

I can't believe I stayed up all night in a house where a woman lives alone. It would be a big deal if anyone heard, but there was nothing romantic about it.

All I did all night was clean and unpack.

Most of the contents of the cardboard box were moving items. I don't know how long it had been accumulating, but it seemed like she probably brought it with her when she moved and left it there until now.

I opened up all the boxes and organized as many of the items as I could.

After cleaning, the remaining boxes were stacked in the recycling bin at the emergency exit.

Since there was no vacuum cleaner, floor cleaning was done by mopping instead. I also didn't have the energy to clean the entire house, so I had to be content with securing a minimal activity radius.

"Oh oh… …Dazzling sun!"

After organizing most of the boxes and clearing the kitchen to at least a usable level, the sun was rising outside the window.

There are no curtains on the living room window, so the only advantage is that I can see the outside scenery better.

"What about breakfast?"

I left the house and headed to the convenience store.

The items I purchased were instant rice and instant bean sprout soup, and as side dishes, I chose a small pack of kimchi and a glass jar of quail egg stew. As a bonus, I bought an ionic drink, water, and a hangover relief drink.

"Let's use the microwave."

Cook instant rice and instant soup using a convenience store microwave. It would all cool down by the time I got home anyway, but since there were no cooking utensils, let alone a microwave, there was no other way.

After finishing all the work at the convenience store, I went back to Cali's house.

"Cali. It's me, can you open the door?"

When I knocked on the door, I heard a rustling noise coming from inside the room, but it soon became quiet.

Hmm. What is Cali doing? Did I surprise her?

When I think about it, I feel like I was being overly naive. Even though she didn't ask for it, I cleaned the house, organized things, and got breakfast for her on my own. Besides, wasn't I a stranger until yesterday?

Maybe Cali is so drunk that she doesn't even remember who I am. Maybe she's quietly reporting it to the police right now...

"Cali, this is Ryker, the son of actress Evadne, who is filming a drama with you this time. We met yesterday, right? Do you remember?"

"…Mr. Ryker?"

A small voice came from inside.

Phew. Fortunately, she seems to remember.

"Yes. My mother told me to take care of you because she and I was worried about you since you drunk a lot. So I have breakfast for you, so can you open the door?"

Although mother didn't say much of it, it's great to say this to gain trust.

After waiting for a moment, the door opened slightly, and Cali stuck her head out through the crack in the door. Although she was a little messy, her face was still beautiful to the point of death.

"I have breakfast."

When I waved the convenience store bag in my hand, Cali, who was embarrassed, opened the door.

"It's bean sprout soup and rice. Since we don't have a table, let's at least use this."

I took one of the strongest cardboard boxes I had left for the dinner table and set the table on it.

It was a simple meal consisting of rice, bean sprout soup, and side dishes, including kimchi and quail eggs. The cardboard dining table made it seem even worse.

"It's already cooled down a bit, but eat it before it cools down any further. If the rice is hard, put it in soup and eat it."

Cali sat down and looked down at the table blankly.

She had an expression as if she had seen such a thing for the first time.

Well, a person as successful as Calista has probably never received a meal like this in her life.

I couldn't resist the look in my eyes telling her to eat it quickly, so she hesitantly picked up the spoon and took a bite.

"How is it? Is it okay? Taste good?"

"Taste… there is…."

Fuck... She just took bite, I don't think that's enough to know how does this taste. I am a bit nervous here. It's my first to bring food for someone other than family, and it's a famous actress.

"It is delicious."

Tears like chicken droppings fell from Cali's eyes as she repeatedly said it was delicious.

At first, I thought I had seen something wrong, but Cali's eyes were filled with tears as if a dam had burst.

"No, hey, if you can't eat it, don't force it."

"Ugh… Ugh… … Ugh… … ."

Cali shook her head and continued to scoop rice and bean sprout soup into her mouth. I couldn't help but feel nervous at such an unexpected reaction.

Cali is sobbing and stuffing rice into her mouth. That scene somehow felt like a scene from a drama. Does this mean that she is a born actress?

"Uh, um… … I will tell you how to throw away the leftover food after you finish eating. There is a food waste bin next to the sink, so all you have to do is put it in there, uh... … For now, enjoy it."

I tried to give her the basic information she needed to live as a resident of the same apartment complex, but I don't think it's the right thing to tell someone who's crying.

I left the room as if running away from Cali.

I really don't understand.

Even if she was drunk yesterday, shs would have sobered up today.

People say women's feelings are complicated, and I understand that I probably won't understand women's feelings until I die.

I sighed for the number of times today, facing the sun shining outside the window.
