The dining hall fell into a great confusion

“…I-I see.”

“Yes! I would never suggest anything else…”

“Mr. Takumi?”

Ms. Claire had asked me with an embarrassed expression, and so I nodded frantically. But then I looked towards Ms. Lyra and my voice trailed off.

It was not because I imagined anything.

Regardless, the whole misunderstanding was my own fault.

“Hoho. You sure are young.”

“Sebastian and Mr. Ekenhart. This is not funny. You should be helping me!”

“No, there is nothing for me to say…”

“You reap what you sow, Mr. Takumi. I remember panicking when I was in a similar position. …I was caught courting multiple women and…”

“…I don’t want to be compared to you, Mr. Ekenhart…”

“Mr. Takumi, that is rather rude, don’t you think? I have feelings too.”

I had seen Sebastian and Mr. Ekenhart laughing at my expense and with no intention of helping me out of the current situation.

And I was so flustered that I said something that was probably rude, but this was no time to be thinking of such things.

Besides, he was asking for it.

“Umm…well…it’s really nothing…”

“Mr. Takumi… Do-do not worry about it! I understand. And I am prepared to do what I can to help!”

“Did you really understand!”

“So Mr. Takumi was actually…”

“What, Ms. Claire!?”

“Oh…I could hardly say the rest…”

“You do misunderstand then! Or perhaps you… No, no, it’s not that at all…”

“…Ahahaha!”

“Alright, that’s enough! Really, Ms. Claire you…Lyra, was it? What is wrong with you? Causing such a ruckus…”

“…Ms. Anne?”

While the chaos was getting worse, there was a loud bang that echoed through the dining hall.

It was the sound of Ms. Anne’s hand slamming onto the table.

Everyone’s eyes turned to her, and all was quiet. And while Ms. Anne then raised her voice angrily, she was like a savior to me.

“…Making such a fuss over that. Are you not ashamed? You should learn to compose yourself.”

“You say that, Anne, as if you didn’t have thoughts yourself?”

“Of course, I did. And yet I did not make as much noise as all of you.”

“Well…that is true, but…”

“In any case, it is a natural thing. There is no need for such alarm!”

“…I suppose, but it does not sound convincing coming from you.”

“And she red in the face.”

“Sh-shut up!”

“Oh, she does not sound or look like a proper lady now…”

“Grr…!”

Ms. Anne was scolding everyone angrily.

However, Ms. Claire soon regained her calm and fired back, causing Ms. Anne to grind her teeth.

She could be quite aggressive when she wanted to… Well, when around Ms. Anne, she seemed a lot more like other women her age.

And in spite of all the times they were angry at each other, they also had a relationship similar to friends…

“In any case, it really is not a big deal! Just go and take a bath if that is what you want. I will return to my own room!”

“Uh, Ms. Anne… Thank you.”

Ms. Anne spat as she left the dining hall, clearly overwhelmed by Ms. Claire.

And so I called out to her and thanked her with a bow of my head.

Regardless of intent, she had helped to calm things down. It would have probably been worse if it was just me…
