Ye Qilan stared at Su Hongxing’s retreating figure, lost in thought. Even though he couldn’t see her face, he could tell from her rigid movements that she was resistant to him.

He thought to himself, his work was the most important thing to him, he shouldn’t spend too much energy and time on a woman.

He turned and walked to the door, but then couldn’t help but turn back. At the sight of Su Hongxing’s back, he blurted out: “How about this, I’ll stay further away from you, to avoid disturbing you. I’ll be just outside the door, call me when you need anything.”

Su Hongxing closed her eyes tightly, pulled up the sheet, and covered her head, seemingly in response to his words.

Ye Qilan received calls from the company from time to time, sometimes he had to participate in video conferences. Fearing that it would disturb Su Hongxing’s rest, he specifically went to the corridor during the meetings.

If this trip was indeed necessary for him, then he had to take Su Hongxing along.

Cao Shiyu and Ye Ling, noticing this, became increasingly hostile toward Su Hongxing.

Cao Shiyu held her peace but Ye Ling could not stand it. After dinner, she had Cao Shiyu lure Ye Qilan away under some pretext while she found Su Hongxing fora “talk”.

Su Hongxing stood by the window, cooling herself by the breeze. Suddenly, Ye Ling’s voice came from behind her, “What kind of enchanting trick did you use to bewitch my fourth brother? Su Hongxing, with your capabilities, why don’t you go ruin other men instead of clinging onto my brother? Can’t you just let him go?”

Su Hongxing stared out of the window seemingly oblivious to Ye Ling’s words.

Ye Ling thought Su Hongxing was intentionally ignoring her and walked up to her. But when she saw the vacant look in Su Hongxing’s eyes, she choked on her words, suddenly forgetting why she had sought Su Hongxing out.

“Don’t think acting pitiful can get you out of this. I’m telling you, a man as exceptional as my fourth brother, a woman as ugly as you, does not deserve him at all. Look at how outstanding Cao Shiyu is, she is the best match for my brother…” Ye Ling continued ranting at Su Hongxing, but finally fell silent in the face of Su Hongxing’s silence.
