My Movie Queen

Chapter 17

"By the way, where did you move?" Alice interrupted Yanna and Vanessa when she heard that they had to go back soon.

She needed to find the crucial information she needed. But Vanessa seemed to have seen through her and responded before Yanna,

"We can't say right now, let's just meet here again tonight."

Alice and Vanessa made eye contact, trying to figure out what the other party might be thinking. The tense atmosphere made Matthew a bit scared.

He looked at Yanna, but she seemed oblivious to the situation as she continued eating and appeared to be enjoying herself.

Matthew didn't know what to say or even understand what was going on. He looked at Yanna again, feeling that she should intervene between these two women. But how would he involve Yanna?

As Yanna enjoyed her food, a cold sensation ran down her back. She was just trying to enjoy the meal, something she hadn't been able to do in her past life. However, it seemed that something ominous was approaching.

She quickly swallowed the food in her mouth and then heard Matthew speaking to her.

"It seems you like fish, Ms. Rivera," he remarked.

Yanna sensed something bad was about to happen, but fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm. Nevertheless, she decided not to let her guard down.

She smiled as usual and fixed her hair before responding, while Vanessa and Alice turned their heads, eager to hear Yanna's answer.

"I enjoy all kinds of food. But due to my previous diet and my particular taste in food, it's often difficult for me to truly enjoy eating. Moreover, when I'm busy with work, I can't even find the time to cook for myself. The food I order usually goes to waste after just a couple of bites. So now, I just can't help it," Yanna explained.

Alice thought to herself, ' I guess Yanna doesn't want others to know the real reason behind her not being able to eat well before, so she made up a story.'

Alice knew that Yanna had been an orphan and that she loved the place so much that she had taken up part-time jobs and sent money to the orphanage. Alice recalled that Yanna had once asked her what kind of job would allow her to make money easily.

Alice had suggested acting, given how pretty Yanna was and how brightly she smiled. However, it seemed that Yanna had failed her audition back then. Eventually, her current company approached her, asking her to become their singer.

Yanna accepted the offer and started earning money. She had improved in singing and dancing, but her company had begun pushing her towards acting.

After a few years, Alice noticed a change in Yanna. She wanted to talk to her about it, but an invisible barrier seemed to surround Yanna. While Alice was troubled by her emotions, Vanessa had a different perspective.

She believed what Yanna had said and understood her. However, another question occurred to Vanessa. As far as she knew, Yanna hadn't been involved in any projects for the past two years.

Instead, scandals, rumors, and videos that didn't seem to feature the real Yanna had been circulating making her name known negatively.

Yanna and Matthew, unaware of their partners' complicated thoughts, continued their conversation

"Then you should eat more," Matthew said, placing a fish fillet on Yanna's banana leaf.

"Thank you," Yanna responded. At first, she hesitated to eat it because Matthew was a boy.

However, when she looked at him, she couldn't discern any hidden thoughts or ulterior motives. She smiled and began eating, but before she could take a bite, her hand was stopped by Vanessa.

Yanna looked at Vanessa, her face full of questioning. Vanessa didn't know what to do when she saw Matthew giving his food to Yanna. She hadn't expected Yanna to accept it, considering that Matthew was an omega and she was an alpha. Vanessa thought Yanna would avoid getting close to another omega, especially someone she didn't know well.

'How careless of me. I should teach Yanna that it's not always right to accept something from someone she doesn't know well,'

Vanessa thought to herself. She took the fish fillet from Yanna and placed it back onto Matthew's banana leaf.

Yanna looked at Vanessa's actions, her mouth open in surprise, but she didn't know what to say. Finally, she could only ask,

"W-why? He gave it to me." Yanna deemed Vanessa with a hint of accusation and a touch of genuine grievance.

Seeing Yanna's expression once again, Vanessa smiled and admitted to herself that Yanna looked adorable like this.

She bowed her head slightly, hiding her smile from the camera, and took her fish, giving it to Yanna.

"Matthew is an omega. He needs to eat more to have more energy," Vanessa explained briefly.

She wanted to say more, but she feared saying something unnecessary. Her selfishness had been evident in the past few days, particularly when it came to Yanna.

She was the first to recognize that Yanna wasn't the same as people portrayed her to be. She witnessed Yanna's innocence at times, her carefree attitude, and her warm personality. Vanessa couldn't let others influence Yanna or allow her to become the target of unnecessary trouble. She believed that Alice didn't know Yanna as well as she did.

"Besides, I have plenty more to eat, and I have a small appetite. You work much harder than I do, so you can just prepare a meal for me later if I get hungry," Vanessa said, stopping Yanna's attempt to return the fish.

Yanna paused, nodded, and continued eating peacefully.
