My Movie Queen

Chapter 8

No matter how low Vanessa said it, Yanna still heard her. She bit her lower lip and turned her back to Vanessa. Seeing her like that, Vanessa felt amused and couldn't hide her smile anymore. She laughed at Yanna's childishness.

Yanna heard her laughter and blushed, thinking about how she was acting. She turned around and smiled at Vanessa with a hopeless look.

"Yanna, let's go exchange items," Vanessa said.

"Alright, but please stop laughing or I will eat that rabbit," Yanna said while staring at Vanessa.

'Our protagonist is really pretty, even more, beautiful when she smiles,'

Yanna thought to herself, but then realized she was staring at Vanessa. She felt embarrassed, stood up, and got ready to go. But she was stopped by a hand holding her wrist. It felt soft and warm, with just the right amount of strength.

"What's wrong?" Yanna asked. Vanessa put away her hand and pointed at the fruits. "Let's eat first."

Yanna remembered that they hadn't eaten yet and sat back down.

"I'll cook first. It's almost noon, and you should eat. You didn't even bite a single fruit," Yanna said.

"I'm not hungry," Vanessa replied.

"Don't talk nonsense. Your fans might think I'm starving you."

"They won't," Vanessa thought, realizing her fans might be watching. She smiled and started eating, and Vanessa followed suit.

"We are in a survival show. The first word is survival. How can you survive if you won't eat? If you're worried about gaining weight, you should think about that later. Diet might not be a problem here," Yanna started the conversation.

"I understand," Vanessa said with her usual cold look as if she hadn't laughed earlier.

"Since you know, you better eat as much as you can and whatever's served in front of you."

" I know, just so you know I'm not a picky eater. It's just that sometimes, even if I like the food, the taste won't suit my liking," Vanessa mentioned this for the first time, shocking and delighting her fans.

"We're the same then. I'm a food lover, but sometimes the taste doesn't suit me either. That's why I started studying to cook, so I can make food that I like. What's the point of working so hard if you can't even eat the food you enjoy? You have work but no control over your meals. Asking a chef will cost too much and waste time. Seriously, sigh..." Yanna thought about how she wished they had wine to drink. "Vanessa, let's drink together sometime in the future."

Vanessa didn't expect that she wasn't the only one with this experience. She felt relieved that Yanna didn't think she was picky or proud. She nodded in response to Yanna, realizing that being friends with her wouldn't be a bad thing.

________

While Yanna and Vanessa already know what to do later, other teams are also doing their best.

" Sir Kai, do you think the team is doing okay?" Ruby asked while eating an apple.

Kai took his time to think and slowly shook his head.

"I don't know. Although Ms. Rivera has a lot of bad rumors around her, she seems reliable. Besides, she's an Alpha, and Ms. Rodriguez, even though she's an Omega, she's smart and strong. My only concern is their lack of experience."

"I'm worried about them too. They look like wealthy people. Will they be able to last in this kind of environment?" Ruby asked, still eating faster.

Kai thought he discovered something, but he didn't know if he should remind her to eat slowly or just stop her. In the end, he decided to let her eat. She looked cute anyway.

He changed the topic, saying, "Well, they are grown-ups. Let's stop worrying. We can just worry about ourselves. We already have 90 points, but we can't say that other groups haven't found a bag yet."

"It's fine, Sir Kai. It's just the first day. We already have inhibitors and stickers, one sleeping bag, a tent, three bottles of water, a pan, and a knife. We can exchange our 20 points for lighter and 55 points for a fishing rod," Ruby said, contemplating whether they should also exchange for canned food, but their points wouldn't be enough.

"We can exchange for a lighter, but a fishing rod maybe next time since we are far from the sea and there's no lake around," Kai finalized, then remembering their team name, he continued, "Why don't we think of our team name first? Our fans might be excited to know."

"Ah! That's right, I forgot. Do you have any idea, Sir Kai?" Ruby asked, tilting her head with her fingers on her chin.

"Hmm... how about 'Survivors of the Wild'? What do you think?" Kai suggested.

"Sir, although it sounds good, isn't it too long? And it sounds generic. Maybe you should think of something else," Ruby denied Kai's first suggestion.

"Then how about 'Winners'?" Kai suggested. It was short and conveyed their goal.

"I like it! We are winners!" Ruby exclaimed excitedly.

"Then it's settled. We are Team Winners," Kai smiled, looking at the camera not too far away from them.

"We are Team Winners, everyone!" Ruby enthusiastically introduced their group to the camera. Kai shook his head while smiling at how energetic Ruby was.

"Do you like our team name so much?" Kai asked. Ruby nodded her head and ate another piece of apple.

"I hope the other teams didn't forget to name their team, or it won't be exciting when there is an announcement later," Ruby said.

"I hope so too. I forgot to remind them before we parted ways," Kai replied.

"If they forget, then we can't do anything about it. What should we do next?" Ruby changed the subject, thinking about wanting to eat something. It was her first time on an island, and when she watched shows or read stories about surviving on an island, she saw that rabbits were commonly eaten by the survivors or characters in the story.
