NOVEL SIMPLE V1ーExChapter 1*
This is an Extra Story that happens in the background while our protagonist enjoys her daily peaceful life.
While the main story is a slice of life without much conflict whatsoever, this extra story is a bit the opposite. There are action and plot points here and there.
Have you ever wondered what would happen after death?. What would be awaited us at that endpoint?. Is it eternal emptiness, a new beginning? Or something else entirely?. Who knows what would happen?. Currently, I am about to find out. I died; the cause of death?... is by suicide. Apart from that, I don't have a recollection of myself.
The answer to that question earlier is a new beginning. Or maybe not, maybe I am a bit special. What is special about me is... I don't know. Anyway, I reincarnated to an alternated earth where the history is different from the earth I knew. First Russo Japanese-war outcome is entirely different. Although the Japanese still win, in this world, however Japanese win tremendously and manage to 'free' Siberia and make Mongolia its client state. Secondly, world war I, or simply the great war, end up in a stalemate and instability happening in the entire world. Mexico joined the central power so that the USA couldn't deploy any troops to Europe. Making the war lasting even longer, ending on 12 Aug 1925. The consequence of the war is a complete worldwide revolution. The Japanese were able to take advantage of the situation and 'liberate' much of South East Asia and form Greater East Asia's co-prosperity sphere. And third, world war II never happens, fearing world destruction if it ever happens.
Your guess is as good as mine; I imagine you probably assume the nuclear bomb is developed early. Well, that answer is the wrong one. Apart from history, there is something more different in this world than my previous one. That is the existence of an Esper, a human being with extraordinary power and an abyssal beast that comes from a dimensional crack. What is more surprising is that only Esper and the Head of government know the existence of this abyssal beast. Even more, the public has no clue about Esper's existence. It is forbidden to get ordinary people to get involved in Esper's affair. If you ever get caught revealing the secret to the public eye, the consequence is heavy. You will be executed, and the ordinary people around you will have their memory altered.
I myself am an Esper, together with my father and my little brother. My mother and my twin sister, however, are just ordinary people. Or so we thought... My mother is still ordinary, but my twin sister, Aria, is a bit special. She is an Esper, but the Esper association forbids to let her know her own power. According to them, her power is super powerful, and it is better to let it dormant and never be awakened. I don't know the detail, but apparently, in wartime, people like Onee-chan are being used as a weapon of mass destruction. And because of people like Onee-chan, large-scale war never broke out again ever since the great war. In a way, Onee-chan is like walking and living nuclear weapons.
But even Onee-chan didn't seem aware of her power; she occasionally leaked some pressure and intimidating aura. She also has a charismatic charm that makes people want to follow her. This part of her is actually a fun one. I already lost count on how many times Onee-chan almost accidentally made a secret esper organization because of that.
Well, Onee-chan is... I want to say a cute girl, but that's not right. She's more handsome and cool than cute. If not for the occasional silly thing she did when at home, I probably had long forgotten that Onee-chan is a girl. Now in middle school, her feminine side has shone quite a bit. She also grows her hair to shoulder length, and the school uniform makes you more aware that Onee-chan is a girl. And I think she's happy to be acknowledged as a girl. Even though she acts in an ungirly manner voluntarily in the past, she seems to be regretting that. I wonder why did she regretting that?.
"Irana... what are you doing?."
"I am following Onee-chan to write a diary too..."
"Eeeh... is that so... can I read that?"
"EH... nooo, this is my secret!!."
"Right right, sorry for preaching your privacy Irana..."
Onee-chan then smiles and pats my head.
Yeah, my Onee-chan is weirdly unique, but she is always the best Onee-chan in the world for me.
